Msconfig Options - Processs Automatically Connect Internet
Jun 1, 2008
new to the site, but not computer related headaches. i have a problem with my computer startup, and tried taking everything off, but, then my internet didn't connect automaticly. i was wondering if anyone could help me figure out which processes automattically connect to my internet via wireless router, so i can leave that one on and take off all the others.
I was on my computer yesterday, and all of a sudden, my quick launch buttons are gone, and the accessories option from my start menu is gone (you know, the one the has system tools, volume control, calculator, and all that under it) I don't know what happened!
I'm setting up my friends home network. They have 2 PCs connected via ethernet and one laptop on wireless. The router is a wireless router / modem from 2wire. PC number 2 and the laptop both connect with no issues. PC number 1 is weird though. I can go to 192.168.1.254 and it opens up the router system page and I can go through and change and view settings. However when I try to go to any websites it immediately goes to "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." I have tried netscape and the iTunes store and nothing can connect to the web. I have linux ubuntu on a Live CD and I can boot from that and it connects to the internet just fine.
My computer have following problem, can you please give me some advise how to fix it ? when connect to boardband (cable modem), the computer hang up or sometime reboot automately. (if disconnect boardband the computer work fine) Also IF use 56K dail up to connect internet, there is no problem at all.
After long periods of my internet connection being idle (2+ hours usually), all programs requiring internet access are unable to connect. By idle I mean I leave to run some errands with no programs other than Zone Alarm running. My DSL modem still has all lights flashing and active. There are a couple other scenarios where this occurs as well. Ex. I'm playing WoW for extended periods but not using the internet through any other program, then upon alt-tabbing no other applications are able to connect to the internet even though WoW is still connected and functioning. Rebooting the router/modem doesn't fix it, but rebooting the comp does.
do internet users get assigned a unique ip address everytime you connect to the internet? and what is the difference between a ip address and a mac address? different types of a networks?
I read that in TOOLS--->Internet options--->Advance, there's a setting that I can make the pulldown manu not be truncated. I can't find it for the life of me.
When I start PC, it automatically takes me to the startup options part to reboot in safe mode, safe mode w/ networking, safemode w/ prompt, last known good config, & normal startup. Getting Stop c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file) SystemRootSystem32Config

I am on a cable modem running W2K pro sp2 on a Dell 4400. My cable modem checks out OK as well as my ethernet card. There are no viruses or spyware in the computer as I checked that today. I've been thru level 2 tech support with my ISP and they are saying that the problem lies within the computer. When I open my browser I get the error msg page cannot be displayed and I cannot access any web page
In IE7, when I click on Tools>Internet Options, the Internet Options box will appear for a split second, then disappear. Does anyone have a solution for this?
my computer crashed and I reinstalled windows xp then used the duracom recovery disc. Now i can't connect to internet, they tell me to copy drivers to disc, but don't understand how to do this or what to download to disc to reinstall to my other computer
I have Windows XP SP3 and I did some updates two days ago: I allowed a java update that was hanging around in my lower tray for a couple weeks, updated my adobe to the latest version and I updated to Internet Explorer 8. After having IE8 for less than 24 hrs, my husband and daughter said they didn't like it, so I did a system restore to three days ago and now I can't connect to the internet at all. From the small amount of research I've been able to do here at work, it seems that once you download IE 8 you can't revert back to a previous version? Could anyone tell me if that's true? I can't even open the internet options tab from the control panel to see if there is a settings problem.
i am having trouble connecting to the internet on my xp pro. i am using a wired connection and it detects the connection and connects but then it crashes right away and error message pops up and it asks me to submit a report
Upstairs, I have a desktop and a laptop. They are connected to my wife's computer, downstairs, via wireless. Both my wife's downstairs computer and my laptop, upstairs, will connect to the internet just fine, but the desktop will not, even though it shows that there is a strong signal being received. I am running Windows XP Pro, version 2002, with SP2. The computer has an AMD Athlon chip. It used to be a Tiny computer, but after having a major meltdown, about two years ago, I took it to a repair shop, and they installed an ASRock I/O K7S41/K7S41GX motherboard, as well as a new power supply, so I don't really know what to call my computer, now. I guess it's just sort of a mongrel, Heinz 57 Variety.
I have tried using System Restore, but it won't allow me to restore to a former point, no matter how far back in time I go. I started it up in safe mode, then ran AVG, but no viruses were found. When I go to Control Panel, then "Network Connections," it shows that the wireless network is up and running. Even so, I tried repairing the network, by right-clicking on "Repair," but got the following message: "Windows could not finish repairing the problem, because the following action could not be completed: Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection. Cannot proceed. For assistance, contact the person who manages your network." Unfortunately, that person is me, who is totally clueless
I formatted my pc, and when I go to My Network Places->Add a network place or set up a home or small ofice network, nothing happens and I cannot connect to the internet.I dont see the internet icon on my tool bar
Trying to connect my uncles's pc to the 'net, with no success. pc config is as follows: windows xp home sp1 celeron 2.4ghz 224mb ram conexant soft 56k internal modem trying to connect to the 'net via tesco isp, device manager shows modem connected to com 3, only com3 dosen't show in the ports section of device manager. the problem is the modem tries to dial but then a box pops up with cant detect dial tone( phone line working correctly) the computer says the port is already in use(?). the modem fitted is the second one i've tried, with no success.
I need some helpadvice about installing 2 operating systems on 2 different hard drivers. I have Windows XP x64 bit on one of the HDD, and I have bought a new HDD,I would like to install the same operating system on the new HDD,how do I do it? Just plug-in the new HDD and install a new OS on it?Or do I need to detach one and then install the os on the new one?
I can't find in the internet information about installing the same OS on different HDD only about different OS.
Internet Options won't open in Windows Xp Pro Sp3 from Control Panel or anywhere else. I have checked SYSTEM32 and there is inetcpl (control panel extension file) and inetcplc.dll. I have tried opening Internet Options in Run, no luck. I have also run a VB script written by someone on the web to Remove Internet Restriction. Didn't work. Here is the error message I get when trying to open Internet Options from within Internet Explorer 8 (I usually use Firefox BTW, the latest, and this update was two days ago.
It doesn't mater if I use IE tools or control panel, when I click (internet options) it doesn't open. I'm running windows XP and I have not installed anything new. I have all the anti stuff, ( SuperAntiSpyware -Trend Micro - Advance System Care - Easy Cleaner) I've even turned them all off, but it still won't open.
I am trying to load win XP Home edition service pack 2 onto a laptop that currently has no internet. It runs all the way through and right at the end it says "Access Denied" or something of that sort, then it uninstalls automaticlly. What is wrong? Or how do I fix it and bypass whatever problem it may be having.

I can't connect to the internet or network b/c my computer is not recognizing my network card (among several other devices) in my device manager. How do i get it to recognize it? i can search for drivers on my other comp but I dont know what network card i have.
It shows the available "unsecured" wireless connection but I am not connecting to it. I have tried the repair connection option but didnt do any good. Everthing was working properly until last week. I tried to roll back my computer settings but am unable to do this.
My son was just using his computer last week, it was working fine. He goes to use it the following day and he cannot connect to the internet. We have multiple laptops in our home along with a desktop. We all can connect just fine. We can't figure out what is going on with his. I've tried to reboot,we've tried connecting to the hard line, we've checked out the wireless router and the signal is fine. We've played with everything that we can play with and nothing works?
