Remove Program Not Listed In "programs"?

Feb 12, 2005

I have xp home. I use word perfect 12. I installed word perfect 8 today just to see if it would help me open some files that wouldn't open in 12 (it didn't work.) Now I want to uninstall word perfect 8, but it is not listed in add/remove programs and I can't find an uninstall feature anywhere, whether on the wp program or on xp....how do I get rid of it?

Add/Remove Programs Containing Unknown Program Listed?

Mar 19, 2005

I found something in my Add/Remove Programs called "My Way Search Assistant", which I removed - evidently successfully,as there is no trace of it in registry or programs. My problem is, however, the entry in Add/Remove remains but only with the name "My Way Search Assistant" and when I click on it all that shows is "Used Rarely"It has no size and no longer has any option to change or remove.I have looked for registry entries there are none is there a program listed.

Removing Programs Not Listed In Add/remove?

Jan 31, 2009

I had a crash and felt like I had to reinstall XP. Obviously I didn't know what I was doing, but I did get the system installed and put programs back on that I had disks for. The problem is that I now have Norton, Nero and others on the hard drive that do not show up on the computer but when I do a scan I have to check through all those programs and they are taking up space on the drive. I cannot access any of them.

Add/Remove Programs Did Not Remove Program QuickBooks 200

Aug 23, 2005

I want to do a clean install of the licensed version of QuickBooks 2005 CD but not until the downloaded trial is cleaned from the HDD. Back on May 15th, Laura alt.comp.software.financial.quickbooks instructed me how to do this. Finally got around to starting the process a couple weeks ago, then put it on hold again because the uninstall didn't seem to work. I'm stuck. What I did: Uninstalled QBs 2005 Trial using Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. It appeared to perform the program uninstall successfully and it's no longer listed in Add/Remove. But, according to the HDD the program is *still* installed. Did not find an "uninstall" or "unwise" file in the QB folder. Nor did

Cant Find A Program In Add And Remove Programs?

I am trying to remove a program from my computer, its Superantispyware, however I cannot find the program listed in add/remove programs. Very weird! Has anyone ever heard of this happening before? Is this an issue with this particular program? It was recommended to me on this forum, but I decided to stick with Spyware Dr instead.

Removed Programs By Add/Remove Option But Still In Program Files?

Jul 3, 2005

I removed a program via the add/remove programs and it seemed as though everything was removed... no traces of it on the desktop or via the start up menu. However, browsing through, (is it still windows explorer?), I saw that the folder is still there and full of goodies. Can I just delete the entire main folder? I get nervous in and around there since something is always sharing something from somewhere else.

Viewpoint Is Not Listed As A Program

I have an entry in the Control Panel called "Viewpoint." Also under Add/Remove Programs I have a "Viewpoint Manager" and "Viewpoint Media Player." Viewpoint is not listed as a program. Can someone put me onto a reference that will give me a good explanation of this so I know what I have? So far I've learned that it's an intrusive piece of software put on my computer by something I've downloaded.

Wanting To Remove Unneeded Listed Items From The Msconfig Startup Tab

Mar 6, 2005

What I want to do is this:

When I go to START>RUN>"msconfig">startup tab I have many listed entries that I know are no longer needed on my computer, but have yet to find a way to delete them.

For example: My mom wanted me to download this TalkingBuddy program for my son, I did it, thought it was stupid so I uninstalled it. To me all components should be removed from the computer. However, when I go to START>RUN>"msconfig">startup tab I still see an entry for TalkingBuddy that can be checked to run at startup.

There are several other entries like this that I know I don't need and would like to know how to remove them. I also suspect that there might be some entries on there that look like they are needed but actually belong to other uninstalled or deleted programs.

Secondly, if anyone knows how to find and remove files that go to programs that linger around after you have uninstalled the program can you please tell me how to do that also. By this I mean for instance, that I have uninstalled Norton and now use Mcaffee, but there are still files that belong to symantec on my computer. I suspect that there are many other useless files from programs no longer on my computer that can also be deleted as well.

Change / Remove Button Missing In Add / Remove Programs

Dec 3, 2008

I have tried previously to uninstall my HP Officejet G85 printer from HP Pavilion a1130n running XP Media. There is no Change/Remove button in Add/Remove Programs but the program is there, 150 MB, and the file suggested on the HP website for uninstalling older printers from XP produces a message that it's "unsupported" can't remember exact verbiage, been a while since last tried. Even reinstalled in the hopes that a message would come up to the effect "this program is already installed, do you want install to remove it prior to completing this install," but it just installs the printer again with a number after it ... I'm up to "hp officejet g series - 3."
