Determining The Installed Service Pack
Mar 23, 2005A few ways you can determine what level of service pack you have installed: 1. Run WINVER. This will show the OS, the Service Pack and the actual service pack build number 2. WindowsKey+Break - Just the OS and Service Pack number 3. Control Panel / System - Same screen as #2. If you want to determine the service pack level of the files on a CD before you install it, there are a few options. One is to simply look on the CD itself. Another option is to simply look at the dates on the files: 1. The bulk of the XP files should be dated sometime around 2001 2. If you have SP1, there will be files dated around 8/2002 (or somewhere between #1 and #3 3. If you have SP2, there will be files dated around 8/2004.

My problem is, however, the entry in Add/Remove remains but only with the name "My Way Search Assistant" and when I click on it all that shows is "Used Rarely"It has no size and no longer has any option to change or remove.I have looked for registry entries there are none is there a program listed.

Aug 12, 2008I installed XP SP3 last night, and all was seeming pretty ok, surprisingly.But I've discovered that I can no longer switch between users. When I try to switch, the system freezes as it is loading the desktop for the second user and all I can do is reboot to get out of it. infuriating! There's no problem at all if I log out of my user account, and my wife then logs into hers. but they just won't run at the same time as they used to. I've tried checking to see if Terminal Services and RPC are running in the services list, and both are, so it's not that.

After installing it and making sure the "modem-on-hold" feature worked right I then proceeded to test it in his children's limited user accounts to make sure they can get on the net also. Now, while his children were also able to log onto the net, the modem on hold program (which until now was quite impressive) will only work for users logged on as administrators.
This fact was verified by one of USR's support technicians who informed me that they had no immediate plans to change it so it would work in limited accounts. Now this is a problem because he and his children all spend a lot of time on the net, and until his name comes up on the broadband waiting list, a modem is all they have between them and the net......

Feb 12, 2005I have xp home. I use word perfect 12. I installed word perfect 8 today just to see if it would help me open some files that wouldn't open in 12 (it didn't work.) Now I want to uninstall word perfect 8, but it is not listed in add/remove programs and I can't find an uninstall feature anywhere, whether on the wp program or on xp....how do I get rid of it?
