View 8 RepliesIn Windows XP, fully updated, I have several folders full of mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.
But all the figures in the "Duration" column appear to be in "hours" and "minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03", but what I want is "minutes" and "seconds".
Tab "File", "edit" an "view" in navigation bars are not "active" and not working and either on click or with mouse over into any of my applications.(Firefox, msn Word etc..)?
(history, bookmarks, tools and help tabs works perfectly)
There. when i double click "my computer" , it gives me a error message like this:
Microsofe Visual C++ Runtime Libuary
Runtime Error!|k`Kd
Program: C:WINDOWSexplorer.exe
This application has reqrested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way
Please contact the application's support team for moue information.
when i try to open "IE" it gives me another message:
Microsofe Visual C++ Runtime Libuary
Runtime Error!
Program: C:Program FilesInterent Explorerieexplorer.exe
This application has reqrested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way
please contact the application's support team for moue information.
Other software is working, the netscape browser don't have such error.
i've try to use mcafee ant-virus to scan the computer but nothing seems wrong
and i use "spyware doctor 4"to san and delete all trojan but i still can not open "my computer"and "IE" then i uninstall the "IE" but the error is still remainn.
on openinig any one of this folders a window appears with this content
cant have acces to C:Documents and Settings Mike Local Configuration{one of these folders} acces denied
this affects my IE i cant download nothing through IE all my files on that locations i cant set dispaly pictures on WINDOWS LIVE messenger and all thinks that has anything to do with those folders
I have searched to see if this was asked before without any success. Maybe someone has run into this problem before. When I open "my computer" or "control panel" after I close it...it automatically goes into Internet Explorer as a blank page. Most of the time, when I close the IE blank page.it stops responding and I have the control-alt-delete to "end the program"
View 3 Replies View RelatedI right clicked on the Taskbar and checked Quick Launch and hit the Apply button. This put the Quick Launch toolbar on the Taskbar with the Show Desktop and Internet Explorer icons. I deleted them and now I can't duplicate this action. I can get the Internet Explorer icon back. But I can't get the Show Desktop icon back.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere are 4 users on this computer. My user ID works fine but all the others do not. When I try to select "Start" I get the Windows Explorer has encountered a problem ...." , then I get a Dr. Watson failure error message.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhenever i clicked on a large video file in explorer (running xp sp2 on inspiron 6000), explorer would crash. i found a tip online to run "regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll" and that fixed the problem completely. however, this fix created a new problem - - now all the info that used to be under "artist" or "album" is gone! any fix? "date modified" is still there, but i like to sort my mp3 folders by artist, and now it does me no good.

I used this "hide a folder" program called "folder lock,".It unhides the folder containing the files, but the files are still hidden. They're still there, because when I copy and paste the folder, it shows that the files are being copied, but in the new folder they will be hidden again. Checking the "property" of the folder shows the correct size as well. How can I get windows to reveal them?
The hidden files are listed in this folder called "n|+|-n" or something like that I think, but when I type that in dos or windows it won't let me access them.
I have had the Ad Watch bug and get the "create an association in the Folder Options" error message when trying to open a program. Nothing will open and all exe.and lnk. files are missing from Folder Options. When I try to create new exe. files and new lnk files, the "apply" button is not highlighted so it will not save. I can make other changes and the button is there but it still won't save the exe changes

Im looking for a way to re-create two folders, 1 my pictures, 2 my video. i have tried TweakUI, but that can only move a path. I tried repair (not Repair console) with XP SP2 CD, and ended up with a chose OS screen (which i found out can be avoided with msconfig.) but still regedit has a big whole where my pictues and my video should be. Ive both a SATA and an IDE drive, IDE is used as storage and SATA is partitioned and computer management say Extended partition, with boot on it and system is on the IDE one.
Before it got messed up i had my documents on the ohter partition, which is how i want it.
When a download is complete, the dialog box opens, announcing "Download Complete" and when I Click the "Open Folder" button the "Download Complete" dialog box closes but the Target Folder doesnt not open. First noticed this after SP3 in this XP Home environment.
Wheres the Honor the 'Open Folder' button setting to get this functionality back?
I have my entire hard drive backed up to an image file. I had to format and put a new hard drive in my machine. All is fine and dandy, but when I try to access my user's folder in "documents and settings" on the mounted "image" all I get is "access is denied"

Now when I do a Disk Clean Up, it doesn't have the option to "Compress Old Files."
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I open "My Computer" and then click to open one of the local or mapped drives, instead of opening that drive I get a "Search" window launched. I can open the drives by right clicking and selecting "Open", but I'd much rather just be able to open them normally! The strange thing (to me, anyway) is that this only happens in "My Computer" - not in any other folder or window...
All thoughts and offers of help welcome!
If I open "My Computer" and then I double click on the C: drive icon (or any drive), it opens up a new window with the Search panel on the left. If I right click on a drive, the menu comes up and "Search" is the in bold, indicating it is the default. How can I change this so it is no longer the default, but opening it up with "Open" as the default?
View 2 Replies View Relatedhere a stumper for me. . . maybe one of you knows how to fix it...when in my computer, if i double click on any of the drives, it opens up a search window instead of opening the folder! its sooo annoying. I have to right click and select 'open' every time. if i right click, the menu opens there and 'search' is on the top in bold instead of 'open'.
Sometime today, the listing under "My Computer" in Windows Explorer has changed from listing only drive (floppy A, hard drive C, and CD-RW E), shared files, and Liz's documents to listing "Control Panel" with the other items. I did not do anything that I'm aware of to put it there, and the checkbox under Tools, Folder Options, View for "display Control Panel under My Computer" is NOT checked. I have tried checking and unchecking it, rebooting, using GoBack to go back to the settings in effect when I booted the computer this morning, to no avail.

We are having some minor problems with a system at work. I was wondering if someone knowledgable about these logs would take a look at it, and see if anything stands out, or needs fixed.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with my CPU Usage being around or at 100% for the past few days. Tried spybot and that didn't help. Here is my HijackThis log.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDone multiple virus scans with Norton, scanned with ad-aware SE, spybot s&d, re-upgraded the xp pro install. For some reason, Yahoo Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer, and Hijackthis, all crash immediately when opened, and give me that stupid blahblahblah has caused a problem and needs to close. Also, trillian has the same problem, as does OE when trying to check my MSN and hotmail accounts, but works fine for my pop3 accounts. AIM works fine, as does firefox. I haven't recently installed or changed anything. I have done 2 system restores, and all attempts to un-install, re-install these programs has failed with the install wizard closing due to some insane problem.
