when i send a print job from a Windows XP computer, i do not see the printer icon that used to appear on the bottom right hand conner of the screen (where the time is displayed). What setting could have gone wrong?

I have a printer installed but when i try to print it keeps saying if i want to install the printer. And when i click yes it says: Operation could not be completed And when i try to delete my printer it says: Printer cannot be removed. The Print Spooler service is not running. And then i click RUN i type in services.msc and enter. Down the services list i go to Print Spooler and double click it. It says "Service status: Stopped". Well then i click start and after bout 10 seconds it goes back to stopped again

Then he had me download the latest printer drivers from Epson and them the subject title error message came up. The balance of the error message is: C:WindowsSystem32Autoexec.NT
System file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Applications. Chose Close or Ignore
Does anyone know what the problem could be with my printers not printing out envelopes? They will print out a letter but not envelopes though they act like they are printing but nothing prints when they come out in the tray? And, yes I have ink! LOL! Just curious as to what could be the problem.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a dell 2400 series PC running XP home edition. My Dell A920 printer stopped working. When I uninstalled and tried to reinstall it, I couldn't get it to reinstall properly. I used the original CD and I also downloaded a driver from dell.com. Neither worked. I tried to install a new Samsung ML-2010 printer. I used the included CD. It finished the install and when I tried to print the test page, it wouldn't print. It appears in the print queue as "printing" but never prints. When I reboot, I see a message on the system tray saying new hardware detected, there was trouble on the install and new device may not work correctly. I tried to do a repair from the enclosed Samsung CD but it didn't fix the problem. When it tried to print the test page, it said "not responding" in the blue bar across the top of the page

and I can create a shortcut to the desktop and run the program.But, I'd like my icon back.I believe the problem was created by having all my icons underlined so I only have to do a single Left click to bring up the program.
I've winxp Home with SP2 system, yesterday my daughter had installed the program 'MS Plus' from the XP Installation CD which was not installed earlier in the machine. My OS is original, but to-day on opening the system I'm seeing that the icon of Hard Drive(E : Drive)to which the program was installed went missing and in its place another icon (which generally represents for any unidentified file) has taken its place.

I have gone as far as I am comfortable with to locate and install the required .dll files. I authenticated the Windows XP. I downloaded 21 updates. I installed XPmedic, emailed them for support, and no response after 4 days. Below is the contents of the screen that stops the HP printer installation.

I went to the notification area where you can choose to place the icon on the taskbar, but it's greyed out and I can't change the gray so that I can highlight. The compaq people have me uninstall a driver and that didn't help. We selected default setting s and that didn't help. I found instructions on Microsoft.help but they work only if you've got the cd. My Windows XPHome ed. was preinstalled.

I have tried run>RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll> and sometime this will allow me to safely unplug a device, but not always. HP suggest reformatting the hd, but I prefer not to do this. Any suggestions?

I lost the Safely Remove Hardware icon and also the Volume Control icon from the Notification area of the System Tray. I do not recollect why or how this came about.
I realized that the SRH icon can be made to show up in the System Tray by:
Click on Start/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices and placing a check mark in the
'Place volume icon on the task bar' check box.
This immeditely places the two icons referred to above in the System Tray.....
Sometimes the icon is missing in the system tray.
I can get it back but next boot it's missing again.
On occasion it does show but not often.
Any ideas on why this happens and how to get it to shoe all the time?
I don't know what I did I think it was yesterday and I was rearranging the start menu.but now a whole bunch of icon images are missing and even if I right click into properties the box to change the icon is greyed out. I don't know what to do.now 3/4 of all my shortcut icon images are gone, and all my office documents, etc. are just the standard window icon. What do I do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the last few months my volume icon does not load in the system tray most of the time on boot up.I have it selected to show in the task bar properties and the control panel. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get this icon back. I have to bring up the Master Volume Panel to change volume settings. This is a real pain most of the time, as all I want to do is stop a web site from playing some anoying music or turn the volume back on when I need it.
