Apr 21, 2008A few days ago I noticed that when I tried to play a video file that I downloaded with VLC, it actually opened another video file on that hard drive (500GB Seagate, partition G: used for video files) instead of the one I selected. It had played fine earlier, so something must have happened to cause the file system to point to the wrong file.
I didn't pay too much attention to it at first, but then this morning I noticed that this wasn't the only occurrence of this weird error. When I tried to play a podcast episode with iTunes which is located on another partition and another hard drive (320GB Seagate, partition H: used for music files) it *also* was pointing to another music file on that same hard drive. Because this struck me as very odd I tried opening other files on these partitions. Some opened the right file, some opened wrong ones. I've done a chkdsk on both partitions. On the H: partition it did fix some errors, but G: seemed to be fine. Nevertheless, the problem remained. I've tried to google for this problem, but I'm having trouble finding a good search term. I've never had a problem like this before, so I'm unfamiliar with the terminology that might be used to document this problem.

Now a days it is insisting to install "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)" first to proceed for downloading update files.Is it a FORCE or I can bypass this tool. I do not want to install it, as somebody told me this is a tool by MS to takeout personal information on my OS (XP) and MS Office and other MS Software.I know I use genuine legal copy.But why should I allow MS to take more information ? prompt by typing cmd in the run box, I always got XP''s cmd prompt aka dos
emulator with a name bar and right clicking on it gave me tools to configure
it's appearance and functions. I am not using cmd in full screen mode. I can see it by right clicking the minimized cmd on my task bar, using properties or I can use edit from that right click context, but I want the name bar back. When I go to the right click context>properties and click normal window it should restore this but it doesn't.

Tool Bar Is Hidden
Mar 8, 2010Upon hitting a sequence of keyboard keys in error, my tool bar at the bottom of the screen has disappeared. The space for it remains, but I cannot find the correct path (or set of keys) to bring back the tool bar at the bottom of my screen.
