Tool Tips Show Behind Task Bar

Why do the tool tips sometimes appear behind the task bar? I like to hover over them for a brief description of what they are.

Sometimes tool tips are usefull, but I hate them popping up in those 3 places I listed above because they contain no usefull information and are just plain annoying.

Windows XP, using explorer, if you look at a list of files, and hover over a filename, Eplorer will display a yellow tooltip with file type, date modified, size, etc. The information seems to be related to the file type : .EXE files show different information in the tooltip than .DLL files. How can this be configured ? How can I tell Windows which information to show for which type of file? I'm using two different PC's, and one just stopped showing the "Date modified" in the tooltip. I'm looking for a way to restore that.

Tool Tips Part Of Shell32 Dll Or Explorer Exe?

The Windows tool tip isn't the problem. When I connect to the internet the tool tip says 'Connected at 2.2mbps. However when you close the tool tip it's hidden, not actually terminated. Are tool tips part of shell32.dll or explorer.exe?Is it possible to terminate it? I don't mind RCE either of the files.

Task Bar Icon Tips Buried

About half the time I float the cursor over an icon in either the quick launch section or the system tray section of the task bar, the icon info window is buried underneath/behind the task bar.I have an NVidea card and have played with the various desktop settings through the NVidea display utility. but it changes nothing.I have experienced this on three separate machines using three separate display adapters, so I am thinking this is an OS problem.

Clear Websites From Task Bar Address Tool Bar

How do I clean out the list of sites that build up in this tool bar? I've tried unchecking and rechecking the address option in the toolbar selection popup menu from the taskbar. I've also cleared all the sections under tools --> options --> privacy from the Firefox dropdown menu. Maybe I need to do something from within IE rather than Firefox? Maybe this post belongs under browsers/internet rather than XP, but the toolbar in question is unique to XP, or XP and ME, is it not?

Show Icons And Task Bar In SP2

I am working on a machine where the machine boots up fine. I log into XP Pro SP2 and it starts to load but never finishes. I have a wallpaper but icons and no taskbar. The only I can open the task manager and try to start the explorer.exe process, but it never starts. It does the same thing in safe mode. I have cleaned some trojans, spyware and a ton of adaware by slaving the HDD and ran a defrag. I performed a CHKDSK /r using BARTS's PE and it fixed a few errors. I then ran a sfc /scannow. I updated all windows updates. I ran a repair on XP. I checked the startup and found nothing suspious. When I go into the add remove programs it locks up the PC.

Every time I turn on my computer it will load and everything everything is ok...But when it load my programs in the beggining some programs won't show up on my task bar such as DAP ( Download Accelerator Plus ) and my volume contols When I close and start the program again it will appear again on my task bar. Also when i restart it will all appear no problem... I never USED to have this

I have a strange issue. I have a couple of processes that do not show in task manager at all. The strange part is they do on my other PC's.If I start Word I don't see word.exe if I start some games I don't see their *.exe's I find it to be strange that htings aren't being listed in here. Uninstall and reinstall of offending softwares is not changing anything.Mind you Process manager is not empty it has a fair amount going on... just some never show up.Also no rhyme or reason as far as application opening times I can start up word first and it not show up but then start up internet explorer and see the iexplore.exe.

Desktop Icons, Start Bar And Task Bar Will Not Show

I get an error message saying that An exception occurred while trying to run " "C:WINDOWSsystem32mfyuv.dll" DllGetVersion", only the .dll file is a different one each time I reboot the system. And I can't find any of the .dll files online at all. Not only that, but when the computer is starting up internet explorer is using up all of the memory, even though I can't see anything on screen. This slows everything down and I have to turn it off using the task manager to give enough memory to the System Idle Process.

I am using windows home edition without an internet connection, first the welcome logon screen doesn't show even though i turn it on in my account. the second thing is that, my taskbar isn't showing any icons at all, every other toolbar on the start menu works besides the task bar,the only way i can switch windows is via CTRL + Tab. Not Responding - Start Bar - Task Manager Doesn't Show Up

I have Winodws XP on a Compaq nc6120. I opened my laptop today to get it working and clicked on Google Chrome's shortcut, and nothing happened. The hourglass cursor came up and it stayed that way for about a half hour, then I tried to turn it off and back on the same thing keeps happening. I have also tried other programs. The task manager doesn't show up and the start bar does not even respond. I ran an HDD self-test and it said that all tests were successful. I use Avast Anti-Virus Free, and tried to download Comodo, but something went wrong, this was the day before theses issues started happening. I'm not very intelligent when it comes to 'under-the-hood' problems with computers, so I have no idea what could be happening.

Now a days it is insisting to install "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)" first to proceed for downloading update files.Is it a FORCE or I can bypass this tool. I do not want to install it, as somebody told me this is a tool by MS to takeout personal information on my OS (XP) and MS Office and other MS Software.I know I use genuine legal copy.But why should I allow MS to take more information ? Any Tips To Speed Up A Slow PC?

My HP Pavilion 750n is running really slow online, and I have a high speed connection. It's not too bad when I'm not on the Internet, but websites open really slow, and some of them just quit before they even load. I was gonna run a registry cleaner, but then I saw on here that it isn't recommended! I was using Norton, but recently uninstalled that and installed AVG, which I ran as well as Adaware; neither found any major problems. I posted a HijackThis log a few weeks ago, but no one responded so I assume there wasn't anything there either. My used space is 19.1GB and my free space is 50.6, so I don't imagine that is the problem either. I'm running Windows XP. Any suggestions on how to speed this thing up, or is it just suffering from old age?

Missing Ballon Tips

I cannot get Balloon Tips to work. I have tried editing Registry and added "EnableBalloonTips" to registry and set value =1. I have also disabled firewall, VirusScan and as many other active icons running in System Tray. I have looked in Tweak UI as well as Control Panel/Security Center and still cannot get Balloon Tips working. What else is there to do? This is my desktop PC. My LapTop works fine and they are both using the same Win XP Pro OS. Anyone have any suggestions aside from hand grenades? I have rebooted each time following changes to be sure they took effect.

Tips For Windows Reinstall HD Replacement

my system is running SLOOOW and it's annoying me. I think it's about time that I reinstall windows and, since my HD has become quiet noisy lately, I've been thinking that maybe I should kill two birds with one stone and replace my HD at the same time. I recently purchased a big external USB HD. I have the Windows CD that came with my Dell notebook, but I've never reinstalled windows. I don't want someone to walk me through the entire process...what I would really appreciate though is some suggestions re: the best way to go about backing up/recovering my settings and etc.I don't really care about most of the programs and etc. (except my anti-virus program whihc I paid for).
