For weeks now I've been getting an RUNDLL error message that pops up after i restart my XP machine. It says "Error loading C:WINDOWSsystem32urmonsag.dll" Now I'm pretty sure that this has been thrown up by some sort of virus that has done a bit of damage in the past but for whatever reason I can't get rid of it.Has anyone come across this particular dll file or can anyone tell me a way of sorting it without having to download some sort of "Reg Cure" style program? I'm sure there must be a manual fix.
In using Windows XP Explorer seaching for files Win XP is sorting the files alphbetically..z to A with subfolders at the end. How do I reverse the Folder Sort from A to Z with subfolders up front?
I've noticed an error in the sorting of files in Windows Explorer. It appears that after the filename gets to be a certain size, it no longer uses just the actual sorting of the filename, but starts to consider the size of the filename.
If you change the file "ExtraWork0507.xls" to be named "ExtraWork05071.xls", it shows after "ExtraWork05052-050601.xls" file as expected (but maybe if this bug was consistent, these two would show in the reverse order). If you change the "ExtraWork05041.xls" file to be named "ExtraWork0504.xls", it shows above the "ExtraWork0507.xls" file.Haven't tested enough to see at what file name length this behaviour occurs. I'll leave it up to Microsoft to do the extensive testing on this, but we have a couple applications that process the files in a directory, expecting them to be in alphabetical order, and this may affect others with similar applications as well.
I had installed RegCure last night and then uninstalled it since it wasn't working properly. This morning when I turned on my computer, I found out my system font has changed dramatically. The font appears to be a spin off of WingDings, but I can't tell. I can get on the internet and IM no problem, but as for finding something on my start menu, or trying to navigate to my system preferences is an impossibility. Also, on the internet and IM, everything is bold and the font is larger.
I'm looking for a way to sort out a list of stuff into alphabetical order. The list is in notepad, but i could put it in RTF if that would help.Or into wordpad.
here's one that has me stumped. My right click option on one particular thing doesn't work. That particular thing being when I choose All Programs and then try to access a program by right clicking on it nothing happens. How I found this was I was going to "Sort by name" and get the programs in alphabetical order but I can't. In every other aspect the right click option works fine.
After a catalogue of other mistakes and errors, I've found myself in the following situation which I'm hoping one of you might be able to help with... I somehow managed to mess up my partitions so that when I used the Windows XP boot CD, it seemed to think there were two partitions, one which was unpartitioned space and another which was available. The unpartitioned space was actually my main XP partition with my current windows installation and all my files on it etc.
So - and this may have been a very silly thing to do - I went into recovery console and issued a 'fixboot' command. It succesfully did the fixboot, but then it didn't sort out my partitions. Now when I try to boot my computer, it keeps giving me the NTLDR Missing message.
When you move programs around in your WindowsXP start menu, the OS will stop arranging it when you add new software. This happens when you move items from your user start menu to the all users start menu. Here is the fix:1. Open regedit (Start -> Run. Type regedit)2. Navigate to Remove the order key by right clicking and going to delete.4. Log out then back in.I wish they would include a feature that was in Windows 2000 that let you resort the start menu!
My "Recycle Bin" will not display the files within it with the correct filters while in the "Details" view. For example, I have the "View" set to "Details", and the two columns I have showing are "Name" and "Type", with "Name" selected as the preferred sort order. With those settings in place, the "Recycle Bin" is not displaying the files in the correct order.I am not sure of the order that it is displaying them, as I can't pick-up on any pattern.
I'm trying to get rid of abetterinternet.aurora which I believe to be some sort of adware or spyware. I get appeox123 problems from it everytime I run Spybot. Spybot get rid of the problems but they keep coming back
I want to "sort by name" the PINNED items in the XP start menu. I know I can rearrange by dragging, but this is cumbersome. How can i quickly sort them?
when I start my ms outlook 2007 I get this error. "Errors have been detected in the file 'file_path'. Quit all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox Repair Tool." I tried to scan with scanpst.exe but it went in vain.I tried it with other applications it worked fine. But,the problem is they all are demo versions and I gets back only 5 to 6 mails for more mails i have to buy that applications. Do we have any free tool that can fix my problem or any other way to fix this.
Running Disk Cleanup, when this Windows File Protection comes up saying a system file has been replaced with a unrecognized one. It wants me to put in my Operating System CD, but I don't have one. I bought this computer and the required files are already on the computer. So what should I do?
I'm in the process of repair/recovery of my machine (Dell Inspiron 8500 with Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2). I'm following exactly the instructions in:
http://attachments.techguy.org/attac...chmentid=62075, but a problem has developed. The "software" file (which is the file that the original blue screen error message says is "corrupt, absent or not writable") will not copy to the new tmp directory to create the backup. My understanding from the article is that this backup file (software.bak) will later be used to restore correct settings for various software applications. Since I can't copy it, it appears that I am screwed,
I recently had to do a system restore and now my .jpg and jpeg files have a bad file icon. They still do open with the windows pic program as I want them to - but only on the admin accout, I usually surf and play and do everything else with a user account, and even if I reset everything under folder options for the file associacions it somehow doesn't apply to the other account.
windows tells me in the file association menu that I changed the file association's properties and can set them back to standart "photo suite 6" - a program that I uninstalled ages ago
I read the advice to start in safe mode to delete files that gave the errror message cannot delet file - source file not found. They wouldn't delete in Safe Mode either. I am trying to delete mp3 from my c drive because I have an external disk where I have my music library. I can delete them one at a time without getting the error message but not a bunch of them. Some of them I have been able to delete in a bunch.
PC wont boot up any more , it says there could be a currupt or missing file , it says its config system and says it might be able to repair the file using the install disc. i have a System Recovery CD-ROM
I have files in my recycle bin. My recycle bin shows nothing when I open the folder but there is 6 items in the folder. I have tried to delete them through C: ecycler but when I try that I get an error on the bottom of my screen that says The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
I have a user with a home driectory that has created a folder with mutliple folders within it. I am not sure how far the direcroty goes, but I have counted to at least 26 directories deep. I cannot delete the parent folder in either explorer, or from the prompt. At the prompt I have tried RD foldername and it says, "Folder not empty". Tried del foldername*.* with no error and still cannot delete it.
I am running windows xp sp3. I tried to uninstall Frost Wire, via add or remove programs. I noticed that after it supposedly uninstalled from the a or r file the shortcut was still listed on my desktop. So I searched for F W and found a few references that popped up after my search. When I right clicked on them and tried to delete, that is when I received the above error message
What I want to do is create a .bat that will copy a file to several locations(all within the same folder, however with different names).
I have a folder that contains the master copy of my db and I want to run the batch file to update the users db files. The reason being is they each use thier own front end.
I was doing some detailed drawings in photoshop, and I also had a generic photo up in photoshop as well. I went to save my drawings, but apparently accidentally saved the photo under the drawins name and then closed the program. This morning I discovered the bad news. Is there a way to get that drawing back? I do not know if it was ever saved before.
I usually backup my weeks work on Friday afternoons. What I do is run a "search" for all files created or modified within the last 7 days and then "copy" all relevant files to a folder on an external hard drive, and then burn a CD.
Everynow and then, I get the following message. "Cannot Copy File: Cannot Read From the Source File or Disk"
I have a laptop, and a file named 1.tmp has appeared (how or why I do not know) in my c/windows/system32 folder that throws up an error message window saying it cannot find the program to run the tmp file, and that appears on my screen every time I log on.So; I thought I could simply go into the sys32 folder and delete the 1.tmp file by putting it in the trash can, as it obviously does not belong there.BUT it will not let me, if I try I get an error message telling me I do not have access or the disc is full even when I use the administrator level so now I am completely at a loss and I do not understand.
Running xp home sp2. I cannot get it to recognize the program Quick Par for par2 files. When I right click a par2 & select "open with", it defaults to the wrong program, and the correct one (Quick Par) is not listed. When I try using the browse option from this point, it ignores my selection of Quick Par's .exe. When I go to WE/tools/folder options file types, I get the same dialogues with the same result. When I try to delete the par2 association from here, hoping to reset it the file to the right priogram, the delete button is dimmed. If I open Quick par & select the file in question, it performs normally, but I want the much more convenient right click context menu option. How can I associate these files with Quick Par, which the pc seems determined to ignore?
after installing acrobat on my machine, I realised that my FILE print port for postscript printing had been deleted. Need help to reinstall the print port.
