I was doing some detailed drawings in photoshop, and I also had a generic photo up in photoshop as well. I went to save my drawings, but apparently accidentally saved the photo under the drawins name and then closed the program. This morning I discovered the bad news. Is there a way to get that drawing back? I do not know if it was ever saved before.
View 1 RepliesI recently had to do a system restore and now my .jpg and jpeg files have a bad file icon. They still do open with the windows pic program as I want them to - but only on the admin accout, I usually surf and play and do everything else with a user account, and even if I reset everything under folder options for the file associacions it somehow doesn't apply to the other account.
windows tells me in the file association menu that I changed the file association's properties and can set them back to standart "photo suite 6" - a program that I uninstalled ages ago
I'm a producer and was about to master a production when the hole town I'm living in got out of electricity very good timing. I had saved the file I was working with a couple of times and just before the electricity disapeared BUT the file cant be found it is deleted (?)Is there a way to get old files back (maybe a previous state).I really need this file but I dont want my hole system take a previous state just get/find files. View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently have begun having problems with my Outlook PST file. This has never occurred before over the many years I have been using the same Outlook file and I believe the problems started happening right around the same time that I put in iTunes onto my PC and started to allow iTunes to sync my Outlook contacts with my iPhone.
My Outlook file still more or less functions normally, but each time I open Outlook I get an error message telling me that the Outlook file was not closed properly the last time it was used and it much be checked for errors. It then does the check, which often it takes 20 minutes while running the check in the background, and each time it finds no errors.
Is there a way to remove or delete some files on the computer through the BIOS Set Up. Because my pc is not working properly as it keeps on loading because of the software/files that is currently saved on my pc...it really messed up my computer..won't even do some commands on the computer.

Doesn't matter what I do, I can't seem to get the icon to switch to a Winamp icon in my music folder. I can switch the icon in Options and File Types to the winamp icon, but when I go to my music folder the icon is still for Nero Show Time. Even after I reboot it's still the same.

My JPE, JPEG, JPG files are displaying the Netscape icon next to them even though I have gone to Windows Explorer Tools Folder Options and set it up so that Photoshop opens each of these file types. The Photoshop icon is displayed in the Folder Options as it should be, and the files do open in Photoshop, but if I go to File > Open in Photoshop, all of these files have the Netscape icon. How do I make it so the Photoshop icon is displayed for these?
View 4 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I noticed that when I tried to play a video file that I downloaded with VLC, it actually opened another video file on that hard drive (500GB Seagate, partition G: used for video files) instead of the one I selected. It had played fine earlier, so something must have happened to cause the file system to point to the wrong file.
I didn't pay too much attention to it at first, but then this morning I noticed that this wasn't the only occurrence of this weird error. When I tried to play a podcast episode with iTunes which is located on another partition and another hard drive (320GB Seagate, partition H: used for music files) it *also* was pointing to another music file on that same hard drive. Because this struck me as very odd I tried opening other files on these partitions. Some opened the right file, some opened wrong ones. I've done a chkdsk on both partitions. On the H: partition it did fix some errors, but G: seemed to be fine. Nevertheless, the problem remained. I've tried to google for this problem, but I'm having trouble finding a good search term. I've never had a problem like this before, so I'm unfamiliar with the terminology that might be used to document this problem.
Why can't I get XP to open every folder using the "Details" option? I do have it set so that it remembers (most of the time) to re-open that folder with the file view it was in when it was closed, but I want XP to open every new and old folder with the "file details" view. Seems like a simple thing, but I can't get XP to understand that's what I want.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my Toshiba laptop running W-XP SP2 it keeps getting 'locked up'. It locks up on shut down, booting, and launching programs. I had to wipe out my hard disk because I had to use the recover disk that came with this Toshiba junk Right now it is locked up with the Spysweeper screen up an the error message is "THIS PROGRAM CANNOT BE CLOSED BECAUSE IT IS LOCKED BY THE SYSTEM"!!! Got that when I did Ctrl/Alt/Del. When it locks on shut down I get same message, and same when locks on boot. Only way out seems to be UNPLUG!!! I've already lost everything anyways so it don't matter. Is this a TOSHIBA issue or a W-XP Home Edition SP2 issue?

Back at Christmas of 2002 I transfered all my files with a intellimover program. I found these files while clicking the Tools button on my browser window, Internet Options from there and then View Objects. The first thing in this downloaded list is a filed listed as and it says that it is damaged. It also has a date on it that is before my transfere. This file came from a HP Windows98 computer to my now Dell XP WIndows. It's only 4kb. It also says it was accessed today for some reason. Is my computer really using this file? Is this a file I need. I think its a windows update thing but now sure.

It is stored in an out of the way directory (not system directory of any sort) and I found it when I was doing some housekeeping. The name of the file is PKUNZIP.EXE and it would have been copied onto this computer a couple years ago with some other files. Now I know what pkunzip is, but xp pro this file certainly is not required. Alas when I try to delete it I get this: Error Deleting File or Folder Cannot delete PKUNZIP: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again. So I'm pretty determined to get rid of this guy, not because it's a problem, but because it's made me mad hehe. So I tried to boot up with a 98 boot disk and delete from DOS. No go, 98 boot wont recognize NTFS.

For the past few days, it kept saying that the file is being used by another person or program. Even though the list of applications in the Task Manager was empty, I still couldn't delete it. I wasn't familiar enough with the processes to know which process to end, but I've a hunch it's explorer.exe. Now when I try to delete the same file, it says that it is not a valid Win32 application. FYI, I've tried using Killbox to delete it but it didn't work. Is there a way to delete this file?

When I go to move certain .avi movie files on my hard drive from one directory to another, I get an error message that says: Error Moving File, It is being used by another person or program.The problem is, I don't know of any other programs using it.
