Scandisk Starts Running On Every Restart - Disable Scandisk?
Jan 2, 2007Every time I restart the PC, scandisk starts running, inspite of a proper shutdown. I have a 200GB HDD which is partitioned into 2. Its the D drive (175 GB) which undergoes a scan everytime.

Dec 19, 2008For weeks now I've been getting an RUNDLL error message that pops up after i restart my XP machine.It says "Error loading C:WINDOWSsystem32urmonsag.dll" Now I'm pretty sure that this has been thrown up by some sort of virus that has done a bit of damage in the past but for whatever reason I can't get rid of it.Has anyone come across this particular dll file or can anyone tell me a way of sorting it without having to download some sort of "Reg Cure" style program? I'm sure there must be a manual fix.

Weird Mouse Glitch - Sort By Name
Oct 30, 2006here's one that has me stumped. My right click option on one particular thing doesn't work. That particular thing being when I choose All Programs and then try to access a program by right clicking on it nothing happens. How I found this was I was going to "Sort by name" and get the programs in alphabetical order but I can't. In every other aspect the right click option works fine.

Sep 21, 2008After a catalogue of other mistakes and errors, I've found myself in the following situation which I'm hoping one of you might be able to help with... I somehow managed to mess up my partitions so that when I used the Windows XP boot CD, it seemed to think there were two partitions, one which was unpartitioned space and another which was available. The unpartitioned space was actually my main XP partition with my current windows installation and all my files on it etc.
So - and this may have been a very silly thing to do - I went into recovery console and issued a 'fixboot' command. It succesfully did the fixboot, but then it didn't sort out my partitions. Now when I try to boot my computer, it keeps giving me the NTLDR Missing message.

This happens when you move items from your user start menu to the all users start menu. Here is the fix:1. Open regedit (Start -> Run. Type regedit)2. Navigate to Remove the order key by right clicking and going to delete.4. Log out then back in.I wish they would include a feature that was in Windows 2000 that let you resort the start menu!

Mar 20, 2006Out of no where my computer has started running scandisk each startup (after proper shutdown). On top of that, scandisk gets stuck at 0%, and won't budge. I've tried starting up in safe mode and I can't even do that. Currently I have to wait for the scandisk screen, and press a key within the 10 seconds so scandisk doesn't get stuck. I would like to be able to run it completely and have it not bother me every start up.

Jan 22, 2009When I delete emails in Outlook Express they move over to the Deleted file ok.
When I try and empty Deleted file I get an error message saying they can not be deleted and there may be some damaged section on the main drive. It then says I should run Scan Disk or similar.
There is no ScanDisk but I went control Panel, c drive, properties and ran Ckdisk.
It takes a while to run and I have done it several times, as well as Disk Cleanup

Blue Screen - Restarting And Skipping Scandisk
Apr 14, 2005My windowsXPpro has hung and given me a blue screen and it says smth like: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent any damage to your computer. "If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart i'm not too sure what the message is as my laptop will have restarted before i even get to read finish the screen.i knw this isn't helping much but until it happens again, i can't provide more information.
After restarting, it'll go into scandisk as normal after a crash. however, it will then scan VERY slowly until about 56% where it will hang. i think there is a last message but as it took me many MANY tries restarting and skipping scandisk
ScanDisk Hangs My Bootup: Screen Just Goes Blank?
Jan 23, 2006I run ScanDisk on a locked drive eg the drive with my op system and it suggests I run it at bootup, the bootup fails (and there is no Scan)- after the initial beep and basic b&w info, the screen just goes blank (no mouse pointer etc) - the red light flashes away on my PC box indicating a lot of hard drive activity though, but I've left it half an hour and it's got nowhere. Exactly the same happens if I instruct my anti-virus program to do a boot-time scan (Avast). My only recourse is to press F8 at bootup and select Start with Last Good Configuration and I can get back into Windows.
