My "Recycle Bin" will not display the files within it with the correct filters while in the "Details" view. For example, I have the "View" set to "Details", and the two columns I have showing are "Name" and "Type", with "Name" selected as the preferred sort order. With those settings in place, the "Recycle Bin" is not displaying the files in the correct order.I am not sure of the order that it is displaying them, as I can't pick-up on any pattern.
I have Windows XP Pro and Office 2003. Whenever I use Windows Explorer or do "File-Open" on Office, for some folders I see the "Details" view, for others when I click on them the "Tiles" view, etc. Is there any way to force it to say "Details" view for all programs and folders?
Using WIndows XP, I have my music files folders set to details view. Recently the ID3 information has not shown up. I can view it through winamp file info or through my tag editor. However file properties does not give any info either. All other information in detail view is available, date modified, type, size.
In using Windows XP Explorer seaching for files Win XP is sorting the files alphbetically..z to A with subfolders at the end. How do I reverse the Folder Sort from A to Z with subfolders up front?
Ever since I did a factory reinstall 3 months ago, every time I close my machine down and restart, my Windows Explorer settings keep getting reverted back to ICON view instead of my saved DETAIL view.I'm using the button under tools and folder options, View Tab, and Apply to all Folders. Is there something else I'm missing?
When I click on the Windows Explorer icon, it opens up with the left side being the blue bar with File and Folder Tasks, Other Places and Details showing. I have to manually click on the Folders button at the top to get the view I want. Is there a way to make this Folders view be the default view when I open Windows Explorer?
Whenever I save a picture from IE 6.0, the "Save Piccture" window always opens in a thumbnail view of "My Pictures". Is there any way I can make it open in the list view instead?
For weeks now I've been getting an RUNDLL error message that pops up after i restart my XP machine. It says "Error loading C:WINDOWSsystem32urmonsag.dll" Now I'm pretty sure that this has been thrown up by some sort of virus that has done a bit of damage in the past but for whatever reason I can't get rid of it.Has anyone come across this particular dll file or can anyone tell me a way of sorting it without having to download some sort of "Reg Cure" style program? I'm sure there must be a manual fix.
I'm looking for a way to sort out a list of stuff into alphabetical order. The list is in notepad, but i could put it in RTF if that would help.Or into wordpad.
alright, i got mad last time iw as here and swore i'd never comeback but well i'm desperate I have managed to somehow recycle my recycle bin. Can't find it in a search.
My system is set up with three harddrives and multiple partitions on each drive.I know that if I just delete a file, it's stored in the Recycle Bin and not actually deleted, even if I empty the bin. However, since the Recycle Bin is on the C: drive, if I delete a file from another drive's partition, and then I use Eraser on the Recycle Bin to overwrite the files inside, are the files still on the partition and the empty space on it now has to also be Erased?
here's one that has me stumped. My right click option on one particular thing doesn't work. That particular thing being when I choose All Programs and then try to access a program by right clicking on it nothing happens. How I found this was I was going to "Sort by name" and get the programs in alphabetical order but I can't. In every other aspect the right click option works fine.
In lieu of non payment of an invoice I have been given an IBM R50e with XP Pro installed. The big problem is that I cannot log on due to no details of the existing Password that has been set up. how to overcome this? I have no software discs and really want to keep the installed software as its all legit.
After a catalogue of other mistakes and errors, I've found myself in the following situation which I'm hoping one of you might be able to help with... I somehow managed to mess up my partitions so that when I used the Windows XP boot CD, it seemed to think there were two partitions, one which was unpartitioned space and another which was available. The unpartitioned space was actually my main XP partition with my current windows installation and all my files on it etc.
So - and this may have been a very silly thing to do - I went into recovery console and issued a 'fixboot' command. It succesfully did the fixboot, but then it didn't sort out my partitions. Now when I try to boot my computer, it keeps giving me the NTLDR Missing message.
When you move programs around in your WindowsXP start menu, the OS will stop arranging it when you add new software. This happens when you move items from your user start menu to the all users start menu. Here is the fix:1. Open regedit (Start -> Run. Type regedit)2. Navigate to Remove the order key by right clicking and going to delete.4. Log out then back in.I wish they would include a feature that was in Windows 2000 that let you resort the start menu!
I'm trying to get rid of abetterinternet.aurora which I believe to be some sort of adware or spyware. I get appeox123 problems from it everytime I run Spybot. Spybot get rid of the problems but they keep coming back
This past Monday morning, I started having trouble with my desktop PC (WinXP Pro SP3 with all critical updates). I was getting frequent errors "spooler subsystem app has encountered a problem and needs to close." As part of troubleshooting the problem, I looked at what System Restore Points had been taken around this time. I found one suspicious entry that I can't explain. There is a Restore Point entry with the description, "Unsigned driver install."I don't remember installing anything that morning, so my question is how do I find out what "unsigned driver" was installed using the date/time stamp of the Restore Point?
I run all of my anti-spyware/malware programs, disc defrag, chkdsk every week. I then create a restore point.Today, for the first time ever, I needed to restore my computer to a previous date because my XP view changed to Classic view and the option to change it back to XP view wasn't available. But the restore points that I saved were not available. I was given a choice of July 1,2,3,4 and 5. The last time I created a restore point was last Monday, June 27th,but when I clicked on the << arrow to go back to the month of June, it wouldn't go back. What happened to the restore points that I created and why couldn't I access them?I know that they were saved because I received a message that they were created. And I have no idea why my XP view changed to Classic View when I turned my computer on yesterday.
A folder full of PSD files. I have the folder on thumbnail view so I can easily find a look I wan't and choose it instead of opening up each one. The problem is that the folder is not generating a preview of the file anymore but instead shows the PSD icon. I just got a new computer and it is since then that this has stared, as on my old computer the previews showed up fine. Is this a setting I need to change somewhere?
This should be an easy one, so just humour this dim-wit. When organising folders, how do I change the details? I have the folder in the details view, and know how to change which details it shows, but can't for the life of me figure out how to actually change the individual details of each folder. eg add the 'Year' detail column, how do I input the year for each folder? this seems like the most obvious, simple thing but is alluding me at the moment.
I am having a constant problem with my XP installation. The "Folder Views" will not retain "details" setting even though I constantly reset it to "details" and have that set as default in all folders through folder options. This does not happen on an old computer with a really old Windows XP installation. Set it at viwe "details" years ago and it has stayed set. Any ideas on something else to get this to stay as I reset it?
I want to "sort by name" the PINNED items in the XP start menu. I know I can rearrange by dragging, but this is cumbersome. How can i quickly sort them?
I need to track down drivers for my Packard Bell Imedia 3082 XP Pro service pack 3 desktop. I have been to the packard bell support/drivers site and found 5 out of 7 missing drivers. I had tried the suggested site previously but when i clicked on download products i kept getting a "server not found message". Tried it yesterday again and it worked so thanks to the people who suggested that. Problem now is I am still missing my ethernet controller driver and my multimedia controller driver. I dont know the exact device details in order to download the two missing drivers. to tracking down the ethernet and multimedia controller. I have downloaded and installed the multimedia driver from the Pack Bell Imedia 3082 site but still it is yellow with exclamation mark. And i still cant connect to my Belkin router. So in brief: I need the device details to my ethernet controller and multimedia controller so that i can track down the drivers.
I have the following problem: Explorer doesn`t show any details for any media file type like artist or album, when choosing Details view. Additionally, clicking on file properties doesn`t show any info either, nor simple, nor in advanced view. The files are fine, and other software reads the media file info correctly, including WMP 11 and Winamp.
the windows will freeze after running 2 hours with doing nothing. when it is booting up, there is a messages says: Hardware Monitor Found an error, Enter Power Setup menu for details. Now, I enter the BIOS in Power Menu, everything seems fine.I took out one memory stick, It ran fine until I reformatted the harddisk. and all the mistakes come out after i formatted the hardisk? How can there be an explanation?
I have a client whose computer has stopped reacting to "alt-tab" hot key (ie. switching between screens).Let's say you are in IE (any app does the same)Currently, if you hold down Alt (like you are getting ready to hit tab), it will highlight the File option from the menu screen. It acts just like it would if you clicked on "Alt" once. If you hit "Alt-Tab" it doesn't do anything different.Things we have done: 1. Tried using the other alt button - same thing 2. Tried installing MS Power Tool for Alt-Tab - same problem 3. Tried installing an app called Alt-Tab Thingy - this was interesting but I didn't catch the full message. It said something like Hot-Keys not enabled or cannot access Hot-Keys. 4. Reboot - same problem..Since then, we have uninstalled the Alt-Tab Thing application and are still stuck with this strange issue.
i have a collection of pictures on my pc,tranferred on to hard drive from a digital camera.they cover sep-dec'06. i have put them all, individually, in a folder, having renamed them to a,b,c, --- etc,to get them to burn to cd-r in sequence. i use xp's 'burn to cd' facility.however, they still come out jumbled and not in sequence as desired. i believe there is a way of correctly renaming them for this purpose but i can not remember how. i seem to remember some article suggesting using 0000/0001/0002 numbering etc to achieve this.is this correct/ correct numbering sequence?
I have an E6600 Dual core CPU, 2 gig ram and 36 gig raptor drive and an Antec True Power 550 watt PS. Everthing seems to work great but I can't seem to get my comands to work correctly when programing in VB4.My old computer had Win XP Media Edition and it worked well. Is there any way I could run this computer with only 1 Core. The intel Motherboard has Single Core disabled?
