Microsoft Antispyware Events - Cannot Change User's Defined Shell Folders

using win xp IE6 w/ sp 2 running microsoft anti spyware .. It popped up saying it was moving my favorites to a different shell folder. I was not doing anything so I took it as a spyware ,so I block it ....Bad move .now when I click favorites I get nothing. I found it it microsoft antispyware events...( has decided to prevent a change to the user's defined shell folders from Favorites to %USERPROFILE%Favorites.)but it shows no way to unblock it or change
In an XP-Home, one user system, what shoul be the defautl values found in the following registry entry: HKU.DEFAULTSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerShell Folders ??To make a long story short, there are entries pointing to a non existing user's folder (eg: C:Documents and SettingsTEMP....) and I want to get rid of this TEMP user and folder.This is the only section of the registry where this folder is referenced.
Just upgraded to the new beta version of Microsoft Antispyware that was released in June 2005.It keeps downloading and installing the same definitions, and reports that the new definitions are installed. When I click on updates, it does the same over and over again. I don't believe the new definitions are actually being installed. Is anybody else having the same problem?I uninstalled and reinstalled the MS Antispyware software and the same problem remains

my web search is trying to install on my computer but microsoft antispyware is popping up asking if i will allow it or remove it i click remove then when i restart it keeps coming back i got 3 xp usernames and it only comes up on 2of them and if i ran hjt will it matter what username i run it on??Here is a description that pops up with mas spyware alert.

Have not done any updates lately, nor anything unusual, however, suddenly laptop displays two error messages re/Win logon.exe and Isass.exe failure. Part of the solution noted in the forum was to restart "using last known good configuration", but this doesn't work. It simply attempts to start again and comes up with the error messages again.
Alright, so, I have tried searching All Engines, IE every search engine and some. And I have not been able to find one web site, including Microsoft that has backup files for Windows Explorer and the Shell files.Is there a XP SP3 user that can archive the Explorer and Shell files for me? It would be much appreciated, as I have some bugs that are very annoying.
as soon as i log in instead of welcome screen to choose logins i go to a dialog box where i have to give my password and usernam... i tried to change this by going to control panel and user accounts. as soon as i clicked on "change the way user logs in or logs off" i get a error as 'A recently installed program has disabled the welcome screen and fast user switching . to restore these features , you must uninstall the program. the following name might help you identify the program that made the change - KLGina.dll"
so i tried to delete i couldnt ... eventually it got deleted by software "unlocker" but as i log in again an error as "please contact system administrator as klgina.dll is missing'.. i got that back again by system restore..
I have windows xp. When I click on start, all prgrams - the list of programs shows up but alot of those folders are empy. Games, System tools, Microsoft Money, Microsoft Office Tools and many others are all empty. I apologize if this is a stupid question.I'm afraid I've done something by mistake to mess these folders up. Any help would be appreciated.
Dumped Vista and installed XPP. Went smoothly, except get this message on start-up. Adapter 1 -no array defined -no hard disc detected continues on and windows starts, no problem.
I put my documents in microsoft word and now for some reason they are in word pad, How can I change them back to microsoft word with out retypeing them all over again. Useing windows XP home-SP2
I just logged into this forum...I was working on saving a template that I could use to start a website...but, by mistake when I went to save the image, it saved the image as my wallpaper on the desktop. My question is how do I restore the desktop to the factory Microsoft wallpaper?
When I install Microsoft software or patches, the contents are being extracted to my external hard drive, and the install is being run from there. You can imagine this is pretty slow.If I detach the drive first, Windows just picks another random data partition on my hard drive. It never looks to C:. Does anyone know how to change this? I've tried searching the web for info, but when you enter theterms "extract", "folder", and "patch", you get a lot of useless information on where to download patches and how to run them.I'm sure this is a registry setting some place, but searching for my external hard drive's letter isn't getting me anywhere.
I had a registry problem, in that when I booted up my laptop, it said a hive file for the SOFTWARE key was damaged. I fixed this by going into recovery console and restoring the registry backup. So now Windows starts again and everything is good. All of my files are still in tact. However, my settings are all gone. Even though my files are on the hard drive, the appearance of everything is as if Windows has just been installed. In Documents and Settings, the reason is revealed.
It seems that the default view for all folders is the view with folders open on the left side of the folder. Clicking the X on the left pane or click off the Floders button on the tool bar changes the folders view to the Windows XP style folder view. Then going to Tools>Folders Options and cklicing the View tab, then clicking on the button, Apply to All Folders does not apply this change to all folders and resets the folder back to what it was before I made the change.
Using Outlook 2003 to keep open an email message while I respond to it. Now, the message I received goes away when I hit reply Let me do repetitive tasks by returning to the same folder, same view, same place? have to upload photos to some funky website that allows only one photo at a time. Even though the photos are all in sequence in a folder, for each upload I have drill down into the folder, change the view from the default "list" to the "details" view I need, sort that list by "date" and then select my photo to upload. Windows folder view and folder options has proven unreliable at best or useless, reportedly because I have more than 4,000 folders. I don't think I have that many but it never has worked and my tech support guy for my home office can't get it working Let me colorize or change icons for all folders so that when they are open at the bottom of my screen I can readily distinguish them from the email messages that are open
I use Microsoft Fax from the Microsft Windows XP Home Edition. On my account the fax preview uses the Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer. I have added another user account to XP. When they use the Microsoft Fax, the preview uses Kodak software and I not seeing the way to change it to the Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer like it is on my account. Any help on getting the preview to use the Microsoft Picture and Fax
I recently performed a system recovery after getting a rather nasty virus. Everything else seems fine apart from these multiple instances of my administrator folder:
I'd like to delete all these un-necessary folders but when I try it says they are necessary for windows to run properly.
I did more than one system restore and each time the process created a new user folder. I first thought all my settings were lost but since discovered I had several new user folders and the computer was no longer using my original folder when I logged in.
As the Administrator of an XP Home computer I am not able to view any of the files of one of the User Accounts.I set up 3 Limited Accounts at the same time, when the computer (HPzd7000) was new. When I use Windows Explorer to view files, I can see all of the user files except for folders and files for the account named "Brett", even though the account type is Limited; I get an "Access is denied" message. If I open My Computer, Brett’s files do not even appear in the listing of folders and files; all other user accounts do.
This should be an easy one, so just humour this dim-wit. When organising folders, how do I change the details? I have the folder in the details view, and know how to change which details it shows, but can't for the life of me figure out how to actually change the individual details of each folder. eg add the 'Year' detail column, how do I input the year for each folder? this seems like the most obvious, simple thing but is alluding me at the moment.
i have a p4 2.6 ghz pc running xp that i want to reformat because its pretty slow and clunky these days.My question is how can i clone the hardrive onto an external drive, reformat and than just migrate the user folders over from the disk image?I own acronis true image and wonder if i can do this with it?

Windows XP. In the sound/program events section, there used to be alot of choices in the scroll bar. Now there are just a few. The full list is still in the rgistry. Is there an EASY way to re-populate the events section?
Just today I have noticed weird thins happenin with my computer. Unwanted events happen when I press certain keys on my keyboard. For example...The key being pressed & the event that occurs:R - Opens calculator N - Mutes all soun CTRL - Selects all or page These are jsut three that I've noticed in the short time I've used my computer today. Is there some setting that I need to turn off? Is my keyboard messed up?
My 'computer guy' installed WinXP Professional SP2 on my newly-constructed computer last week. I was disappointed to note that he registered the end-user license agreement under my nickname, rather than my given name, hich I would have preferred. Is there any way at this point to change the 'registered to' name to my correct name.
I have recently moved house and came across my ex wifes' old IBM Thinkpad 600. I am trying to change the user name and password but only know the user name. I have tried to access the operating system (XP Pro) in safe mode but am still asked for the password. Would uninstalling the existing operating system and installing a new one work. I am bewildered if I can do anything with this laptop and need some advice as to whether I am 'flogging a dead horse'.
