2.99 GHz 512 MB of RAM
OUR newest computer is of course different in other ways, but instead of Intel Pent. 4 it is Intel Celeron.

SP3 And Intel Centrino Duo

I've read the rumors about SP3 boosting performance substantially, and now the release candidate is out. So obviously I'm thinking about installing. In my own research I read that the reason that people reported such great results in the beta stage was because that XP never had support for Dual cores. The sticker on my laptop says Intel Centrino Duo but i'm not even sure what the difference is between duo and dual is or if there is a difference, but i tend to think there is one becuase intel produces stuff that says both. but is that the reason why people saw an increase in performance? I don't want to install the SP3 unless it actually does something besides "fixes security bugs". So what is your opinion on the new SP? To anyone who has install SP3 have you noticed any improvements? Also should i just wait for the official release of SP3?

I have just put together an i7 930 with an Intel DX58SO using XP Pro and USB K/Board and Mouse. How do I make it come out of sleep mode? Even the power switch doesn't do it.Reset is the only button that works but that resets of course.

How To Change Intel Pre Allocated Memory

laptop has a pre-allocated memory for it's graphics, that i want to change coz i did a memory-upgrade, so it allows me to do so. however many times i try to restart the sound doesn't come on, on my newly installed XP proffesional SP2. this also used to happen to my other operating system media centre edition but not as often as SP2. in media centre edition i used to go to the control panel> sounds and then exited and restarted and everything was ok, but now nothing gets the sound up?? i cannot increase the sound level cause it tells me that the device is not found.

ok this is also a problem for the intel graphics card i have which isn't being recognized by XP. when i do run>dxdiag the graphics card properties and the sound card properties dont come up.

Intel BIOS Update Program Won't Go Away?

Gateway E-3600, MoBo Intel D845PT, XP Home, SP3, I made same mistake as many others, I attempted to update my BIOS with Intel PAP08EB (not knowing that I should have used the Gateway BIOS update)( or better yet, not updated the BIOS at all). Everytime I start my computer the Intel BIOS update program comes up. I have figured out a work around so that I can start and use my computer, but it takes a lot of time and annoys me. I hit F1 to start the program (because nothing else works), then I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL (which kills the program) and tap F8 continuously until the emergency start program comes up.

In Device Manager, under "Network Adapters", its got the following: Dlink Air plus which is my IE connection, and "Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Network Connection" - OK, I have tried to uninstall the Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Connection through the uninstall process the DM provides, but everytime I restart the computer, the system reinstalls it back on my system - I do not use the Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Connection Network, just the Dlink, and I am wondering if and how I can permenatly remove the intel PRO connection entirely from my computer, so that in my network connections, it will only show the Dlink and not the Intel Pro but also so that my computer won't detect the intel Pro upon restart and reinstall it again.

A HDD With An Identity Crises - Intel D865 Perl Motherboard

I just closed a game i was playing using task manager because it froze, when i got a ballon notification saying my secondary drive was low on available space, when i opned up my computer to check it out the hard drive lable was " " the system was FAT, the total capacity was 7gb and the available space was 9mb; instead of being labled "Tv&movies" with NTFS as the file system and it's a 200gb hard drive that at last check had 14gb free, i whent to open it up and my computer just shut off so i gave it 10 mins and turned it back on only to get this wierd yellow check disk screen as apposed to the normal blue one. then my computer whent into a serious of restarts, when i switched it off removed my seconed HDD and restarted it, it works fine now and i can see the files on my 2nd hdd using a external usb device. and as long as i don't click that stupid ballon notification thingy that runs the auto drive cleaner my computer doesn't shut itself off.

Updating Intel Integrated Audio Sound Card

I'm trying to upgrade my sound card so I ran DXDIAG (log at end of post) and it says that my sound card is an Intel(r) Integrated Audio and the driver version is 5.10.0000.3523 (English). The date is from late 2001(!) so I obviously want to update the thing.The problem is that I can't find an update file or driver anywhere! Summary: XP Pro System crashes with stop code after being booted from a different CPU family. Old CPU=Intel, new CPU=AMD. Hardware abstraction layer issues? Existing system is an Intel CPU 2.6Ghz on a Gigabyte GA-8SIMLH-P motherboard. It is working well and has all the latest software patches and driver updates applied.It is used in a small office environment, mainly as a type of server, having lots of customisation to the security attributes for different shared folders across a LAN, FTP server, custom IP addressing, user attributes on secured folders, etc. Rebuilding the software from scratch is not a viable proposition - it would take too long and I'm sure I would miss something. System is fully backed up daily and has not been having any problems of note, but is starting to buckle under the load.

Along comes a AMD CPU running at 3.4Ghz on a Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-SLI motherboard with added oomph in the way of extra RAM and a faster graphics card. Clone the drive and put it in the new motherboard system and fire it up. During startup up comes the blue screen of death with the stop code as shown above. Popping in a new drive on either system and doing a fresh full install works fine with no problems the hardware is 100% functional on both motherboards - no questions of unreliability as diagnostics have passed with no errors on the drive, CPU and all other components.I want to change the XP drivers to recognise the new CPU and at least boot up so that I can do a refresh update, add the appropriate device drivers, or patch the appropriate driver files and registry entries directly.
