My pc has recently died and whilst searching for a replacement tower for around ?300 I came across this Maxdata D Intel Celeron 3.06 complete pc! the main spec I want is at least a 3 Ghz processor.and 512 ram and my local pc shop was gonna build one for ?300 just for the tower and no CD or DVD drive, keyboard or mouse http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/116031/rb/22256080606

OUR newest computer is of course different in other ways, but instead of Intel Pent. 4 it is Intel Celeron.
I am running Windows XP Homedition. I have two drives inside, the regular C: drive and I have a Slave drive F: with all my photos and music and documents. The problem I'm having is that everytime I restart or reboot my system it say it needs to check F: drive for consistency. It haven't been doing that until now. Then once it goes through that the system comes up. I try to click on an icon like my internet or registry program, nothing comes up, its like a read only file or something. Its not executing the program. THEN all of a sudden I get a blue screen. It says this::"Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacture for driver updates. try changing video adapters. "Check with your hardware vendor for aany BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use SAFE mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advance SStartup options, and then select Safe Mode."

when i run chdisk for errors in win 2000 by right clicking the hard drive icon and then clicking properties of c: harddrive, then tools tab, then click the check now button, and in the check disk options ticking "automatically fix file system errors" and clicking ok I get this message "The disk check could not be performed because exclusive access to the drive could not be obtained. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer."If i chose yes to that above it performs the diskcheck at reboot and when windows loads i go back to the checkdisk and i get the same problem again.

It was working yesterday...Can anyone tell me how to check my Sound Playback device and playback programs? I'm using Media Player and iTunes I tried other speakers and there is still no sound Also, forgot to mention that my speaker makes a static/fuzzy noise when i turn up.

Error check runs fine, and makes 5 checks. At the 5th check at about 98% you better be there and when it hits 100% be a quick reader so you can see if there are any bad clusters. The screen stays there about 3 seconds and then disappears. If you have bad clusters the HD might be going bad. Question. How can I make the Error Check summary screen stay put while I read it or how can I make it "log" someplace where I can go and read it at my leisure?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've read the rumors about SP3 boosting performance substantially, and now the release candidate is out. So obviously I'm thinking about installing. In my own research I read that the reason that people reported such great results in the beta stage was because that XP never had support for Dual cores. The sticker on my laptop says Intel Centrino Duo but i'm not even sure what the difference is between duo and dual is or if there is a difference, but i tend to think there is one becuase intel produces stuff that says both. but is that the reason why people saw an increase in performance? I don't want to install the SP3 unless it actually does something besides "fixes security bugs". So what is your opinion on the new SP? To anyone who has install SP3 have you noticed any improvements? Also should i just wait for the official release of SP3?

ok this is also a problem for the intel graphics card i have which isn't being recognized by XP. when i do run>dxdiag the graphics card properties and the sound card properties dont come up.

Gateway E-3600, MoBo Intel D845PT, XP Home, SP3, I made same mistake as many others, I attempted to update my BIOS with Intel PAP08EB (not knowing that I should have used the Gateway BIOS update)( or better yet, not updated the BIOS at all). Everytime I start my computer the Intel BIOS update program comes up. I have figured out a work around so that I can start and use my computer, but it takes a lot of time and annoys me. I hit F1 to start the program (because nothing else works), then I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL (which kills the program) and tap F8 continuously until the emergency start program comes up.
View 14 Replies View RelatedIn Device Manager, under "Network Adapters", its got the following: Dlink Air plus which is my IE connection, and "Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Network Connection" - OK, I have tried to uninstall the Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Connection through the uninstall process the DM provides, but everytime I restart the computer, the system reinstalls it back on my system - I do not use the Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Connection Network, just the Dlink, and I am wondering if and how I can permenatly remove the intel PRO connection entirely from my computer, so that in my network connections, it will only show the Dlink and not the Intel Pro but also so that my computer won't detect the intel Pro upon restart and reinstall it again.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just closed a game i was playing using task manager because it froze, when i got a ballon notification saying my secondary drive was low on available space, when i opned up my computer to check it out the hard drive lable was " " the system was FAT, the total capacity was 7gb and the available space was 9mb; instead of being labled "Tv&movies" with NTFS as the file system and it's a 200gb hard drive that at last check had 14gb free, i whent to open it up and my computer just shut off so i gave it 10 mins and turned it back on only to get this wierd yellow check disk screen as apposed to the normal blue one. then my computer whent into a serious of restarts, when i switched it off removed my seconed HDD and restarted it, it works fine now and i can see the files on my 2nd hdd using a external usb device. and as long as i don't click that stupid ballon notification thingy that runs the auto drive cleaner my computer doesn't shut itself off.

The date is from late 2001(!) so I obviously want to update the thing.The problem is that I can't find an update file or driver anywhere! I don't know if I'm being retarded or what but there must be some update available since 2001.
