Installer Screen Asking Me To Put In The Disc To Install
Jan 13, 2007
When I booted up I got a windows installer screen asking to put in the disc to install paint shop. Since I was on the road and did not have the disc with me and don't use Paint shop I uninstalled it. when I boot I get a screen that just says windows Installer and it is very hard to cancel it
I have a windows XP box with SP 3. Once booted into Windows I immediately start getting Windows Installer trying to install something. Clearly there is a failed installation in there that windows installer keeps trying to install but can't. When try to intall something new I get the "This happens with windows in running in safe mode or windows installer is installed incorrectly" message. I tried installing windows installer 3.1, but it tells me it is already installed and quits. I tried installing the Windows Intaller Cleanup program that RProffit linked to, but then I get the windows installer is broken message and it can't install. Seems like I am in for a reformat and reload?
windows installer not working tried downloading it and reinsalling it but still no joy, can't install any new programs. I have also reinstalled windows xp
i was trying to install an application from its installer. And i accidentally went to "open with" and selected another program, thus the installer package always opens in the other progam and does not run. I was wondering if there is a way to undo this process
I had a virus problem which was solved in security forum. Later a fresh problem started with MS office 2K. When ever I started any office application windows installer window popped up & the application started freezing up.I tried to un-install the Office Suite through Add/Remove programmes but same problem occured. So i tried un-installation by eraser2K programme, which did the un-installation.Now I am unable to re-install Office suite.
I can't install windows installer from the Win update site. I get the Error Code: 0x80070005. I am trying to install 893803 (v2) as selected by win update. It will start installing then quit about 3/4s way through. I also get these messages...KB893 803 v2 Setup Access is denied. And KB893803 v2 setup installation did not complete.I have win xp home sp2. I recently reinstalled the OS and am trying to update it.
i pulled out a program disc halfway through installation, which jammed up windows installer (every time windows was started, a message came up saying to please put in the install disc). I fixed that by finishing the installation (putting the disc back in 4 or 5 months later, we don't get to visit much), but during the time she had the problem, which was right when she got the computer,97 or so Windows Updates downloaded to the computer, but couldnt install.
These files include everything from the service packs (which are supposed to install by themselves), to critical updates. The computer is very slow at startup, and wants to install the files at shutdown. No error messages, but the files remain there wanting to install.
Right, I've uninstalled Windows Installer and installed the latest version, but it didnt install properly and I have no add/remove programs and cannot install the Windows Installer.
I've tryed reinstalling in safe mode, rebooting about 9 times and I cannot install it
I have tried to install adobe reader 9 but as i get to the end of the process i get the following message The windows installer could not be accessed.this can occure if you are running windows in safe mode or if windows installer is not correctly installed.
I had noticed that I could copy but not paste. For example, I could right click an icon on the Desktop and copy it, but using Ctrl-V or right-clicking on the Desktop to Paste did not work. In fact, the option is not even highlighted in the shortcut menu. Even to drag and drop an item from one folder to another is not possible. However, I can copy and paste text, like copying and pasting a sentence is MS Word. I also found out that I cannot install any programs on this same computer. This is the exact error message I get when trying to install Ad-Aware:
"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance. "
I use earthlink DSL and the offered a clean up system for free (PC finetune) so I tried it because my computer was a little slow. Well, after installing and rebooting up dates came up. I let in automatically install updates. I know 'stupid'. I now have it set to notify me before installing. Anyway, one of the updates was some version on windows explorer. It is always attempting to Install. It doesn't say what what it is installing. I look on the internet and one told me how to find out what it is attempting to install. It came back as "3.1.400.5512" I'm think that is internet explorer 3.1 not sure. It slows my computer, won't let me go online because it interfers with the sign on window pop up.
Have a Dell E510 with Wind XP Home. Well meaning friend tried to speed it up by installing Firefox and deleting Internet Explorer. Managed to also delete WordPad and when I start up - a message box labeled "Windows Installer" appears with the note - "Preparing to Install." Notice goes away and I do whatever I need to do online. However I need to reinstall a printer and am getting the message that the installer is missing. How do I fix that.
When I turn my computer on there is a long pause/ delay before windows initiates at start up. It lasts about 1 min until Windows finally boots. Immediately after Windows starts up a window pops up titled: Windows Installer - Preparing to install. This started all of the sudden tonight, not really sure why or what caused it but has anyone ever heard of either of these errors? I have ran an updated version of Adaware6, AVG Anti Virus, Ccleaner, CWShredder, Ewido, RegCleaner, Spware Blaster, Spybot. Also, I have been using Avg Free Editon Virus Scan and Windows Firewall and still managed to get 2 viruses today while they were running. Can you recommend a top of the line virus scan and firewall. I have been told that Pc-Cillin is a good virus scan because it has an integrated virus scan and firewall.
This is an odd problem that just won't go away, I have a friends computer who has win XP sp-2 they had Norton 2005 on it and uninstalled it cause it is just junk anyway. But the problem is that any program that needs to be installed or updated now gives the message that you need to install the norton disk in CD drive for unknownname install. In event viewer is says "Source: MsiInstaller, Type: Warning, Category: none, Event ID: 1001, Description: Detection of product '{C6F5B6CF-609C-428E-CA83176C021B}', feature 'Complete' failed during request for component'{A07EA0AF-E117-4A34-8D54-5D826F12988C}' for more help & support" blah, blah no help at web link. Also I cannot get windows update site to even load with anything in it all no message just blank, other websites seem fine.
can I stop xp from trying to install an old programme? which doesn't work and I can't delete? I have a copy of roxio media creator which doesn't work since I reset windows to an earlier point, the prog can't find a certificate and questions the system date so won't install. it won't delete either for the same reasons and every time I try to copy files it tries to install the damn thing, unsuccessfully
Every time I boot up I get the following error: Found new hardware wizard Cannot install this hardware There was a problem installing this hardware Logical disk manager An error occurred during the installation of the device The class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device
I installed Windows Vista 64 at one point, but my wireless usb adapter didn't have any drivers for windows vista 64 so I reformatted my entire hd and reinstalled win xp home. anyway, the problem is I cannot install the new version of iTunes, openoffice, and Steam. There's probably more programs out there that I cannot install, so I really want to resolve this issue as it is very annoying. everytime I try to install any of these programs i get this message. "The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
I have recently bought a new computer that came with windows vista as you may have guessed the experience mostly has not been a good one, with lots of compatibility issues. I want to dual boot Vista with XP but the problem is I have heard windows XP does not have the SATA drivers on the disc. I understand that you just need to insert a floppy and push F6 I think but the problem is I don't have a floppy drive! Is there anyway I can slipstream the drivers into the install or something?
I just purchased a 74G western digital raptor drive and want to use it as my system drive, however, I have the PERFECT installation of windows (XP Pro) on my current system drive (a mostly full 320G sata drive).Make the raptor be bootable/system drive, basically move the install of windows (documents and setting folder, windows folder, program files folder, MBR/all system files and folders) to the new raptor and then re-assign the raptor to be drive C (so all references would be correct). The windows install I currently have is ancient but perfect, and I dont have the discs for many of the programs on the system (TONS OF THEM). So I really want to avoid re-installing windows (the obvious way to do this). I also cant use Norton ghost because the old drive has 280G of stuff and the raptor is only 74G.Is this possible? If so are there and tools/hints that could help me?
I'm sure this has been asked 100 times before but my computer randomly shuts itself down so I don't really have the time to look for it. I need to reinstall Windows XP. I want to do a clean install. I have the disc and the reg code. What I don't have is the BOOT FROM DISC option!! How do I get it or how do I do it?
Have WindowsXP Home (OEM generic) installed. Can I purchase a "license" and use the disc to install on another unit? Second unit has Windows98se installed. Will I be able to install WindowsXP using this disc?
i have a custom computer build, working fine for a year and a half, system crashed while online. inserted windows XP system/boot disc, goes to mobo screen, goest to a blank screen. shows press any key to boot from cd. then verifying/inspecting system components etc. then a blank screen, system wont do anything.
A friend has XP Pro on their computer with the product ID tag stuck on the case. She doesnt have the disc. She needs to reinstall (Her box is past help). Does anyone know if its okay to use another disc with her product ID? I think it must be, cuz its the number thats unique, right? If its okay, my real question is does anyone know a source of XP Pro without a product # on-line? Initial searches didnt turn anything up.
the Windows Installer screen opens telling me it is trying to install a program that is already installed,(usually driver for HP 4110 printer drivers). If I don't cancel it immediately, eventually an error screen appears telling me the file I'm seeking is not available and to insert the installation CD. I've tried re-installing the drivers by inserting the CD, but then an error message appears saying the drivers are already installed. This is getting frustrating?
I have an HP computer that only has the system recovery disc and not the full xp disc. SP2 came with the install. I have an XP disc just with SP1a can I do a repair install with that and then just install SP2 after?
