I have a win2k server with an adaptec 2410 raid controller with sata drives.
Today I get a blue screen that says inaccessible_boot_drive when I try to restart the server. I was going to haul it down to my local computer shop as I need it back up quickly.
After an entire weekend working on this project, I am beat. I have a client who has a Windows NT Server and is replacing a 4 GB SCSI hard drive with a 20 GB IDE. System sees the new drive. I have used Ghost to create the clone of the original drive from the 4 GB SCSI to the 20 GB IDE. That worked fine. However, after removing the SCSI drive to boot from the 20 GB IDE, I repeatedly obtain the STOP: 0x0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. I have been in contact with Symantec and they have not been of much help. I have seen the article from Microsoft regarding the error as well but have not had much luck.
My question is by chance, has anyone else experienced a similiar situation and what has been your resolution? I would be extremely grateful to anyone who may have an answer to this problem.

The procedure is as follows:
Right-click databases -> Restore Database
I mark 'from device', click the '...' button & select 'File' in the dropdown, then brows to the file itself. Under 'select the backup sets to restore' I check the only checkbox there, then in the 'To Database' I select the name of the database in the file (a new DB name appears there as you select the file).
Am I right in thinking that they are both pretty similar except that server has support for multiple processors and extra network related tools and facilities. The reason I ask is that if a piece of software works on Windows 2000 server, is it extremely likely that it will work on Windows 2000 professional too? As a bit of background information: I work for a small company which supplies temperature monitoring equipment which needs to be networked. I've been told that it has been tested on Windows 2000 server but not on Window 2000 professional.

I have two hard drives, both of them with Win 2000 Pro. The First has been the master in machine one from the start. The second HDD has been in machine twoand that machine has crashed so bad that it is not worth the time, energy or money to fix it. This second HDD has important data on it that is only accessable through older programs that are only on this drive. (It is a church membership data base program and a church financial record program) I have the added problem that no one in the office has a clue where the install disk are for these programs and they are not where they are suppose to be (this was before my time). I would like to place the second HDD in the first machine and set up a dual boot so the user can choose which drive to operate from. There is the added problem that the computers only have a restore disk that came from Dell and not a full Win 2000 Pro CD.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe other day on boot up I received an "lsass.exe error, invalid parameter" screen. Clicking "OK" just continued the boot up and error message in a loop. This has been a common problem for folks. Although I could not determine (due to the state of the system) if in was a virus or a corrupt file, I was finally able to coerce, after many varied attempts, an overlay install of XP Pro. However, all that was on my hard drive dissapeared (programs, settings, files).
Although, when I went to reinstall some items (Adobe Acrobat, for example) it stated that it was still resident on drive. Further, when I went to do a defrag, it stated that it was not needed (probably because of the small amount of recent installation) but the graph showed 20 gigs of space taken up (my original 18+ gigs and the new install). So, the original installed volume is still on the drive yet I can not see it or access it.
I need IIS.dl_ ISS.in_ from a windows 2000 CD or windows 2000 server CD, a trial CD will be find. They're in the I386.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am running server 2000 in my home as and server. i just recently put it in. sense i have put it in i have not been able to run my backups for all of my stuff. have a drive that i call apps on my server and it has all my setups and other stuff. when the backups start copying from that they lockup on files it seems some what random on the file although now that i am thinking more on it i seem to rember seeing the same files over and over. when it lock up it locks up the whole computer. and my backups are run by a batch script

I configured the ISA Server to allow the ftp requests. I tested the connection using web browser as well as cute ftp and I have no problem in connecting by entering static IP Address from web browser and cute ftp.

I want to have a domain with 3 accounts: administrator (of course, me) and two other users. I want it so if I change my desktop on one pc, I can log off that pc and walk over to my other computer and log on and theres my new desktop. They then logged on the site that way with a username and password. It was being used as a Citrix server in our environment. The server was put in before my time here and I saw that somebody had changed the C: to a M:We have since taken the server off the network and plan on using it as an internal file server. For some reason, I am unable to install a clean copy of Windows 2000 or 2000 advanced server on it.I have tried to wipe the disk clean with DBAN and KILLDISK and WIPEDRIVE but all just hang on the system.I have a Windows 98 startup disk that I was able to boot from and ran an FDISK.I was also able to format the C:.When I am in DOS and switch to the C: I type in Dir and it comes up with no files found.I checked the partitions in FDISK and it shows the Primary Partition as being active and shows the correct amount of disk space. Whenever I try to install Windows 2000 Advanced Server the system goes through the process of checking the files and gets to the point to begin installation. When I try to install the operating system, the next screen comes up saying it cannot find the hard drive.This is very frustrating as I know the C: is there as I can see it from DOS and it looks to be configured properly.

I went to defrag and the Bar was solid red. Windows defrag won't touch it so I tried installing Diskeeper's new 2007 version only to find out it wasn't compatable with 2000 server. I have several accounts and would like to configure them to be administrators on the local workstations, but not a domain admin. I can't quite figure this out. It'd be nice to be able to do this all from the server. I'm assuming it's a domain policy.
I am adding a computer to my home network. All computers connect to the internet and each other through a wireless router, and belong to the same workgroup. All computers are Windows XP Pro SP2, except the new computer, which is XP Home SP2. A Firewall is enabled on all computers--the Windows firewall on the new computer, and Norton Worm Protection on the others.
If I run the Network Setup Wizard on the new computer, this completes successfully. But after rebooting, when I select View Workgroup Computers in Network tasks, I get a message saying that the workgroup is inaccessible.
I recently baught a new hard drive and intalled windows xp pro sp2 on it. I made 2 partitions on this drive, one for the system and on the other one (D) I put the majority of any user files I might have had (inc. mp3's, avi's, mpg's, jpg's, etc.). Everything was fine at first, and after a week or so, my D partition shows up on my computer but is inaccessible. I get "Disk is not formatted" whenever I try to access it.I have a lot of recordings on that drive that have no backup anywhere.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe main problem is this; in reguard to the dvd drive: the shortcut for the destination you are trying to access is inaccessable. I have no cd/dvd drive icon in my computer and when I insert any cd/dvd into the drive, autorun does not take over from there. Toshiba tech support says its caused by a corruption of the windows files because I can get the ram image of the restore disk to show once windows is not attempting to access the drive. I'd like to learn how to resolve this issue without reloading windows entirely. I think it can be done, I mean there has to be a way to debug the system. NTLDR: couldn't open drive multi(0) disk(0) rdisk(0) partition(1) As some of you suggested in other potings, I made sure that the boot from CD was the first option in BIOS. I tried installing Windows 98. NT4, 2000, and XP using bootable CDs and startup disks but didn't get anywhere. I booted in DOS and formatted the HD and used different partitions sizes and formatted them in FAT and NTFS, and I still got the same result. The cable is connected properly to the HD and there are no apparent damage/problem with anything inside. Linux works like a champ on it, but windows doesn't.
My computer had been running slow ( It is a 610 Compaq EVO laptop) and I had been getting memory dump occurences all along here. I tried cleaning up my PC doing defrag and using Adaware, etc. prior to my final dilemma. I had been in safe mode doing some of this cleaning up and now I have this problem after rebooting.

It was freezing at the windows screen ( after the bios loading and the f8 option to choose ).
I tried to boot
1. from the emergency repair disk failed
2. from the original win 2000 Cd succeded but when reboot from the HD failed.
I also tried the repair option but wasnt able to boot from the HD.
At a point wasn't able to boot anymore neither from the win 2000 CD.
I decided to install win 2000 at the same HD without making a new partition and now i have win2000 at C:WINNT1 ( the new ) and C:WINNT ( the old )
The file systen is NTFS.
Now i can boot to the second installation.
Is there a way i could transfer or merge the old installation to the new one ?
My nightmare is to do all the programm installations from scratch ,configurate the varius programms and so on.
I'd like to repair the first installation of win 2000 and after that i can boot to it , delete the second one.
