I have a new PC that has XP Home sp2 on it. I have only had it since December but twice it has "crashed" whilst I have been downloading stuff. When I reboot it I get the message "your pc has recovered from a serious error" but I cannot find out what this error is. Everyhting then runs fine.
I was browsing the internet and suddenly my internet stopped receiving packets and wouldn't work at all. So I restarted my computer and then as soon as I connected, ZoneAlarm appeared with a message saying:
ZoneAlarm Security Alert - Dangerous Behaviour:DrWatson Postmortem debugger is trying to communicate with SVCHOST.exe -k netsvcs by opening its process.
I have the following - XP.Professional + SP2. Sound Max audio digital integrated system My computer is not a special make, it is a tower that has had items built into it. Recently, when playing CDs or listening to any sound, the sound has been sounding as if it comes through water! It is like listening to a voice talking whilst gargling.I am not able to find a reason, neither am I able to find a way to correct this. I am not too 'good' with computers and I do not have a CD for Sound Max with which I could re-install it if I were to remove the programme.

I have been having problems with my computer and a frend told me to download Windows XP OEM SP2 using a torrent website and UTORRENT. However, i'm not sure if my computer is OEM or not, so if I downloaded OEM version, would this mess up my computer even more? Or shall i just download Windows XP SP2?
I want to download Microsoft's antispyware beta. But I've never downloaded anything before.I've started a few but I get confused when I'm suppose to click on "run" or "save", so I end up canceling. I'm pretty new to all this computer stuff but I was able to figure out that I can probably do either one. What I need to know are the steps to take for both. I hope I'm making sense. If not I'll try again.
I have a laptop beside me that i had to do a recovery on, since then it has not allowed me to install SP2, It just hangs when it gets to the registry key bit.
I have a Dell computer, running Windows XP my ISP is Sympatico., that about all that I have learned recently.I have Norton Anti-virus installed. What steps to do I take before I download anything from a website?Someone said, I have to disable my anti-virus program, is this true? Also, when I go into a website, my screen freezes. I hit CTR+ALT+DEl., then Microsoft asks me if I want to send a report, I say YES.What does this mean? I still get the computer screen freezing after sending a report.
is it possible to download a file straight to the E (cd burner) drive? i don't know what i am doing, so playing around i just downloaded a file to that location, but it says the files are ~ready~ to be written to the cd and i don't know what steps to take next. i would be grateful for any guidance (oooh, and question - if i do manage to get files directly to the cd like that, will they still leave traces just as if i'd downloaded them to the hard drive?)
So just recently whenever i try downloading anything, when i click run it asks me to choose a program and i dont know what to do. For instance i tried to download the Photoshop free trial but once it tells me to choose a program i don't know what to do.
Recently my computer just started restarting itself. I haven't quite pinpointed when yet but it seems that it does it when i'm running IE or downloading something. It just does it randomly.
Everytime I try to download and run anything I get a message saying that the path (c: bla bla bla ) is valid. But it is for a machine other than this one.
I want to have the hijack this link because my yahoo toolbar had been replaced by something called freepod. These popup windows would come and it would be saying another toolbar was installing itself without my downloading it. Also, as of lately when I log onto the PC if it just freezes up & doesnt let you type or click on anything.
I have at home a desktop connected by dial up (snail version), and a laptop in the office, connected by DSL.If I want to update Win XP, or others programs (all licenced, don't worry), can I download on my laptop, save on a stick, and install on my desktop?

Has anyone had problems with their computer after downloading Internet Explorer 7? I was going to try it until I was told by a friend that he's had nothing but problems with his computer since he downloaded it.I've read that this IE 7 is a beta version which means that all the bugs haven't been worked out yet? Maybe that might have something to do with my friends computer problems, I don't know.Just wondering what the public response has been about this new version of IE.
I got a new computer a few weeks ago and downloading anything causes whatever else I'm doing to lag and stutter. Its especially noticable in sound and movies but if its a fast download even the mouse will skip around. Even loading websites causes this. Offline everything works fine. Any idea what I could do to fix it?

I downloaded Sony Vegas Movie Studio and clicked the installer as I would normally do with any program I would download and a window comes up telling me that my Temp folder (CDocuments and Settings/"name"/Local Settings/Temp) is write protected. I can't do anything >.< I right clicked the Temp folder and unchecked 'Read Only' and applied it, right clicked it again, went back to properties to see if it worked and the box is rechecked again I'm stumped.
I run Windows XP professional sp2 on a P4 2.4GHz/512DDR/845MotherBoard/300GB 7400rpm HDD. I have noticed that if I keep my system running at night, which is when I generally download stuff from rapidshare and some torrents, it shows some kind of low virtual memory message when I have a look at it in the morning. Why is it happening? The applications that keep running throughout night are firefox, uTorrent, McAfee Security Center, and my DSL connection tool.
