When I use an online search engine as soon as I start to type the content in the search box I get a dropdown box with umpteen different possible solutions as to what I am typing. How do I stop this box from droping down

This freezing problem has been happening for over 4 Months ( Or even more),First of all My Computer started off with a 768 MB RAM with Intel Pentium 4 Processor.My Computer will freeze at random times and at random moments. For instance like if I was Scanning my computer for Viruses, And I go somewhere to do something by the time I come back My Computer would Freeze like the Cursor wouldn't be moving and No buttons will work. And at the moment I have to press the Reset button on my CPU. I've Tried multiple Solutions. I even went with my dad last saturday to go buy 1GB of Ram and It still freezes
View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently, my XP windows drop down bar has taken on a ghostly apperance (non-apperance). When I right click on a menu item, I see a ghoast of the right side and bottom line of the dropdown list, but no choice text. Only after I mouse over each of the dropdown choices does any text appear. I find this somewhat concerning, because I don't know what caused the change.Where can I redefine the appearance of the dropdown. I tried looking in Display but don't know the location to adjust.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running window XP Pro and suddenly I am having some major issues. Not sure if it's a virus, spyware or something else. I've run AVG free virus scan and AVG free spyware and got nothing out of it.I've also formatted my hard drive and re-installed windows and STILL have the problems. Here's what's happening if ANYONE can get this fixed for me, you're a real pro.First off, I can't drag and drop anything.I can right click and copy (or cut) then paste elsewhere, but I can't move desktop icons around, or drag them to the recycle bin, or any sort of drag and drop.
Also, very frequently, all the sudden, I won't be able to click anything. No shortcuts, no quick launch icons, NOTHING! My computer acts kinda like it's hung, but the mouse works fine, just when I mouse over a button or icon, I get nothing, same thing when I click the button or icon nothing. however, I have oddly noticed that if I press CRTL+ALT+DEL, then simply close down the task manager right away, without doing anything, my PC will let me click icons and buttons again, but still no drag and drop after a few minutes it'll mess up on me again, then CTRL+ALT+DEL and close task manager again to get back in business.
When accessing different web sites that has a drop down menu (i.e. trying to buy something online and the web site is asking you to input your CC information and provides you a drop down menu to select which country your from and/or a expiration date), the selections are blank. It appears that there is something there for me to select (As if it's White Font on a White Background

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty with text diplaying in bizarre fashion. The machine is a Dell Optiplex tower operating Windows XP Pro. When I am in an application or browsing web pages and choose one of the dropdown boxes, the box drops down and shows the outside lines of the box. Then when you swipe your cursor over the dropdown it will display the text that is invisible. All that I have to do to show the text is pass the cursor over the area. If I do not swipe the are with the cursor the text will be there, I assume, but never display.Has anyone encountered this issue before.

I did all my spyware software and cleared out all the adult crap, but all of a sudden, they are showing up on my address dropdown list! Why doesn't Microsoft see this and drop it's prices. Everytime they release a new version of windows they talk like now finally all problems are over while in some cases of the platform the problems even got worse. I'm really curious if private pc users for example still have to give away their half month salary when Windows Vista arrives in being able to buy it. No wonder there is so much illigal activity going on. Many people cant afford it due to the Euro economy in Europe. I think that when microsoft drops it's insane high prices they will sell a lot more copies and in the end make more profit out of it.
