This freezing problem has been happening for over 4 Months ( Or even more),First of all My Computer started off with a 768 MB RAM with Intel Pentium 4 Processor. My Computer will freeze at random times and at random moments. For instance like if I was Scanning my computer for Viruses, And I go somewhere to do something by the time I come back My Computer would Freeze like the Cursor wouldn't be moving and No buttons will work. And at the moment I have to press the Reset button on my CPU. I've Tried multiple Solutions. I even went with my dad last saturday to go buy 1GB of Ram and It still freezes
Recently, my XP windows drop down bar has taken on a ghostly apperance (non-apperance). When I right click on a menu item, I see a ghoast of the right side and bottom line of the dropdown list, but no choice text. Only after I mouse over each of the dropdown choices does any text appear. I find this somewhat concerning, because I don't know what caused the change.Where can I redefine the appearance of the dropdown. I tried looking in Display but don't know the location to adjust.
I am running window XP Pro and suddenly I am having some major issues. Not sure if it's a virus, spyware or something else. I've run AVG free virus scan and AVG free spyware and got nothing out of it.I've also formatted my hard drive and re-installed windows and STILL have the problems. Here's what's happening if ANYONE can get this fixed for me, you're a real pro.First off, I can't drag and drop anything.I can right click and copy (or cut) then paste elsewhere, but I can't move desktop icons around, or drag them to the recycle bin, or any sort of drag and drop.
Also, very frequently, all the sudden, I won't be able to click anything. No shortcuts, no quick launch icons, NOTHING! My computer acts kinda like it's hung, but the mouse works fine, just when I mouse over a button or icon, I get nothing, same thing when I click the button or icon nothing. however, I have oddly noticed that if I press CRTL+ALT+DEL, then simply close down the task manager right away, without doing anything, my PC will let me click icons and buttons again, but still no drag and drop after a few minutes it'll mess up on me again, then CTRL+ALT+DEL and close task manager again to get back in business.
When accessing different web sites that has a drop down menu (i.e. trying to buy something online and the web site is asking you to input your CC information and provides you a drop down menu to select which country your from and/or a expiration date), the selections are blank. It appears that there is something there for me to select (As if it's White Font on a White Background
I can't get the drop down menus to open up. When I click on folder icons, nothing happens. I've run Spybot, my virus program and System Mechanic. Nothing.
When I am saving a file I often use a single letter for example X If i wish to continue using the X's for example XX or XXX etc etc I used to get a drop down box telling me when I had used that name. This has vanished. I now have to manually count the letters how can I get this drop down box back please.
To delete a url i have visited from the address drop down field of my home page and from the drop down field of dogpile or any other search engine for that matter.
I was wondering how to remove web addresses from the dropdown bar in IE. After going to clear history, there always remains one web address and i have no clue how to delete it.
When you right-click on a folder or file you get a dropdown menu that has a list of options. i.e. Open, Send To, Properties, etc.My questions are, Does this menu have a name? What is it? Where does it reside? How can it be modified to remove unwanted items? (Some programs put an item in this menu when they are installed)
I am having difficulty with text diplaying in bizarre fashion. The machine is a Dell Optiplex tower operating Windows XP Pro. When I am in an application or browsing web pages and choose one of the dropdown boxes, the box drops down and shows the outside lines of the box. Then when you swipe your cursor over the dropdown it will display the text that is invisible. All that I have to do to show the text is pass the cursor over the area. If I do not swipe the are with the cursor the text will be there, I assume, but never display.Has anyone encountered this issue before.
I have done a search in the newsgroup and come up empty. Is there a way to clear you search list in google. Everytime I go to do a search, is provides a NOW large dropdown list. This is not necessary, is there a way to clear it?
I had gone to a couple of gaming sites researching on some games and out of nowhere, it had popped up adult sites all over the place. I did all my spyware software and cleared out all the adult crap, but all of a sudden, they are showing up on my address dropdown list! Even after running the software, I thought that would clear them off the list.Is there anyway besides clearing out all of the history that I can get rid of the one or 2 individual adult web addresses?
A minor problem. When my "Favorites" list becomes crowded I highlight items and delete them. Simple. Now the dropdown list from my Address Bar has become crowded and I realize I don't know how to delete old items. Can't highlight and delete like the Favorites.
RUn XP Home, using RUN command line I notice when I enter a letter, such as "t", a list appears that includes http URLs and others that contain t. How can I clear this list of names I apparently typed into other searches, some of which come from using my browser (Firefox)?
How do I get my visited websites to remain. Twice in the last week, I've lost the recent websites I've visited. I have IE6 and when I click on the drop down for the address bar, the box is empty. People usually want to delete this, but I want to be able to keep it.No viruses or spyware.
Normally, when I use the drop down arrow on the address bar, it still has recently visited sites saved that I can easily navigate to. In the last day or so though, when I click nothing happens and everything has to be re-typed. Does anyone think they know what the problem is?
I am using Windows XP Pro (OEM). How do I CLEAR the drop down completion menus? Some of mine have 4 or 5 options with most being old email addresses or errors. I want to clear them all and start from scratch.
I recently started having problems with my laptop running XP. The drop down menus in all applications as well as the pop up menu from START do not stay up. They flash onto the screen, but dissappear.I don't know too much.I restored the system to a known good operating point, but that did not help.I've defragmented the hard drive.
I may not be asking this right but here goes for win xp. Let's say you are going to log in and you type the letter " D " for example and any name that you use in the pass shows up in a drop down below, then you can pick a previous typed name. OK My question is can you clear this list? It's annoying because I left out a letter from a e-mail address,
Why doesn't Microsoft see this and drop it's prices. Everytime they release a new version of windows they talk like now finally all problems are over while in some cases of the platform the problems even got worse. I'm really curious if private pc users for example still have to give away their half month salary when Windows Vista arrives in being able to buy it. No wonder there is so much illigal activity going on. Many people cant afford it due to the Euro economy in Europe. I think that when microsoft drops it's insane high prices they will sell a lot more copies and in the end make more profit out of it.
Typing the letter "c" into I.E.'s location box produces a list of previously typed sites that begin with that letter, as an example. Clearing HISTORY or TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES does not affect this list. The names therein do not appear in the registry or MRU lists. What's the secret to remove them.
I need to add a printer using TCP/IP but when i click on local_printer > create a new port...the standard tcp/ip option is not there.Local Port is there but NOT Standard TCP/IP. Can this be restored and replaced?
I am having problems with my keyboard. In device manager under the General tab the device usage box is 'greyed' out so I cannot enable my keyboard. I have a logitech mouse and keyboard and the software is installed. The mouse works fine but the keyboard..mmm frustrating.
I keep getting the following message everytime I boot-up:- There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a diskharddisk3dr15. The only way I can get rid of it is to keep pressing the cancel button until it disappears. How do I remove it?
Its been quite sometime that i have been looking into this thing but now it really annoys me as i have to use mouse to go to favourites and open them up using a mouse. earlier they used to pop down whenever i use to type in a letter.
