RUn XP Home, using RUN command line I notice when I enter a letter, such as "t", a list appears that includes http URLs and others that contain t. How can I clear this list of names I apparently typed into other searches, some of which come from using my browser (Firefox)?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI doubled the size of the Taskbar to accomodate the shortcuts to web pages, and I drag URL's to the Taskbar. After a few days of use, the icons are replaced by IE default icons.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a BSOD (registry corruption) yesterday (well, closer to today) and i fixed it within the hour (i.e. as soon as i found a windows disc) however, all web browsers and related programs (firefox, lynx, wget) are now strangely unable to access the internet (also μtorrent b/c it cant access trackers), everything else works fine, including Apache.

Do you think there is a problem with my browser or my CPU. Can anyone else tell me if they have the same problem viewing it also and if you have a fix it would be greatly appreciated. View 5 Replies View RelatedI de-infected a windows XP system with SP3 and IE7. Once I did that, http no longer loaded in IE. It does not work in portable firefox either. I can type in ftp:// ftp address and IE works. Likewise I
can use https:// and the page loads! What is going on: I tried:
1) Reset ie7 as per MS
2) Removed IE 7
2a) IE6 would not load http either
3) reapplied SP3
4) Repair install win winxp cd.
5) Deleted and re-installed network card
This is where I am now. Still no http://. Since multiple applications are affected, I do not think it is a browser helper.
Recently, my XP windows drop down bar has taken on a ghostly apperance (non-apperance). When I right click on a menu item, I see a ghoast of the right side and bottom line of the dropdown list, but no choice text. Only after I mouse over each of the dropdown choices does any text appear. I find this somewhat concerning, because I don't know what caused the change.Where can I redefine the appearance of the dropdown. I tried looking in Display but don't know the location to adjust.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running window XP Pro and suddenly I am having some major issues. Not sure if it's a virus, spyware or something else. I've run AVG free virus scan and AVG free spyware and got nothing out of it.I've also formatted my hard drive and re-installed windows and STILL have the problems. Here's what's happening if ANYONE can get this fixed for me, you're a real pro.First off, I can't drag and drop anything.I can right click and copy (or cut) then paste elsewhere, but I can't move desktop icons around, or drag them to the recycle bin, or any sort of drag and drop.
Also, very frequently, all the sudden, I won't be able to click anything. No shortcuts, no quick launch icons, NOTHING! My computer acts kinda like it's hung, but the mouse works fine, just when I mouse over a button or icon, I get nothing, same thing when I click the button or icon nothing. however, I have oddly noticed that if I press CRTL+ALT+DEL, then simply close down the task manager right away, without doing anything, my PC will let me click icons and buttons again, but still no drag and drop after a few minutes it'll mess up on me again, then CTRL+ALT+DEL and close task manager again to get back in business.
When accessing different web sites that has a drop down menu (i.e. trying to buy something online and the web site is asking you to input your CC information and provides you a drop down menu to select which country your from and/or a expiration date), the selections are blank. It appears that there is something there for me to select (As if it's White Font on a White Background

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty with text diplaying in bizarre fashion. The machine is a Dell Optiplex tower operating Windows XP Pro. When I am in an application or browsing web pages and choose one of the dropdown boxes, the box drops down and shows the outside lines of the box. Then when you swipe your cursor over the dropdown it will display the text that is invisible. All that I have to do to show the text is pass the cursor over the area. If I do not swipe the are with the cursor the text will be there, I assume, but never display.Has anyone encountered this issue before.

I did all my spyware software and cleared out all the adult crap, but all of a sudden, they are showing up on my address dropdown list!
