Created New User Automatically - Regular Administrator

Mar 14, 2008

I have Windows 2000 with the normal administrator id setup as well as one other. I logged in today and noticed I had no background which tipped me off. I tried my email program and it was asked me to set it all up. I then went into mydocuments and it was empty. So if I go into my drive and look at Documents and Setting I normally only had Administrator, AllUsers and my other ID motopsycho. Now I have the following....Administrato Administrator.Chris
Administrator.Chris.000 AllUsers AllUsers.WinNT motopsycho Now if I go into just the regular Administrator I can see all MyDocuments, MyFavorites etc. but I seem to be booting up with the Administrator.Chris.00

Automatically Created User Account

Dec 29, 2007

I can't seem to find this easily anywhere, but this morning I started my comp. and I was taken to the welcome screen to select my user account - only, I never created a user account because i'm the only one using my computer and don't want an extra step between me and the desktop. Today is the first time this happened - automatically. Created A Second Administrator Account - Can't Open Control Panel

Dec 12, 2008

My desktop started acting strangely so I closed down programs and did a reboot which took a lot longer than normal - and later found out that my disk was full. During all of this, Windows somehow forgot where the administrator account was and created a new one that has no access. Can't open any programs, can't open Control Panel or IE. The folders for my old Administrator account are still on a second hard drive where they've always been, but Windows created a newly named Administrator account on my C: drive. I've tried the CTL ALT DEL twice trick to log in as administrator and still have the same situation. No programs work, control panel doesn't work. All give same error message, either it can't find the path or I don't have priv to access. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."I've fixed the full C: drive issue since I can still access Windows Explorer, but can't seem to get my old Administrator account back. I can't delete the user since I can't get into Control Panel. I've started in safe mode and still have same issue.

Corrupt User Profile: Uncorrupt My Regular User Profile?

Jul 9, 2008

I have a corrupt user profile. A program would not work (Avery DesignPro 3.5) and their support told me to create a new user profile.I did, and the program works under the new profile. The problem is that nothing that I use all the time is under the new profile. How can I uncorrupt my regular user profile, or do I need to switch back and forth when I want to use that program?

Created User Account

Jan 10, 2009

I just moved in to my buddy from work, and decided to put a pass on my PC, since a lot of people go thru the house on weekends. I set up an account, gave it admin privileges, but when setup asked: "would you like to give that account access to files?" (or some similar question) I selected NO. When account loaded I couldn't get access to any of my files! The problem now is that I can't delete that new account, because it's the only account! I tried setting up another one with administrator privileges, but it doesn't ask that question anymore (would you like to give that account access to files?), so I can't get access?

I restarted the computer - no error message - but now it appears to be logged in as a guest (my settings have all gone - no icons for my files on desktop, etc.). When I look at the users in control panel it shows just main user and guest (i don't use the users options on windows - only me using the computer).

Can An Invisible User Account Be Created?

I have a few customers who are determined to screw it up or continually allow others who will. A couple of times recently, I have made service calls that if I could have gotten into the Administrator's account, I could have fixed it; but, some fool had changed passwords on both the user account and the Administator account. Is there a way to create an invisible account with administrator privilidges that can be accessed in some way but that doesn't show up in the log-in screen or under Users and Passwords?

Windows Created Password For User Accounts

Apr 8, 2005

the closest we have found to our same problem is number on thread t350665..background one of our customers has run into a problem: they have been using XPhome for about a year, SP2 installed smoothly and has run well for a few months, they turned on automatic update, it installed, then next boot:problem it asked them for logon password where there was, previously, no (more specifically, blank) password. We tried booting into safe mode as admin, it also asked for a password where there was none. We have not found a default password, none of the defaults we knew for other microsoft products seem to work. The closest thing to a solution we have found is KB321305, but this article assumes they made a password disk (which they didn't, I think because they were not as suspicious of microsoft as I am), nor have admin priviledge, because the OS (or some updated part of it) seems to have forced a password on ALL accounts where they were all previously blank, so we can't even start in safe mode. They do not relish wiping their OS and starting over, and neither do I.

Created New User Account / Now Desktop All Messed Up

Oct 17, 2006

My computer was working fine. I would turn on the computer and it'll go straight into my desktop and I'll see all my files and icons on the desktop. Just 2 days ago, my son decides to "create" his own user account and he happens to set it him up also as the "administrator". When ever we turn on the computer, it would go to a screen and it would ask us to select a user to log on as (only one avail, it's his). We'd click his user account and it goes to a desktop, however, there is only 2 icons (recycle bin and adobe reader), nothing else. Where are my files/icons? How do I fix it? I rather undo what he did but it appears that I can't delete his user account because he is the administrator.

User Administrator - User Login Screen

Aug 30, 2005

In recently restoring my crashed machine, I noticed that when the machine was
idle, it would go back to the user login screen. I found this tedious as I
just wanted it to go to screen saver but stay within the user session. I ran
'control userpasswords2' and de-clicked 'Users must enter a user name and
password to use this computer.' (It's a home computer so not worried). Now
when I reboot, it brings up a Windows login for Administrator and says,
"Unable to log you on because of an account restriction." I can bypass that
and log in as Owner or anybody else so it's more cosmetic than anything else.Question - who is this "Administrator?" The account doesn't show up under
User Accounts. 'Owner' is the Administrator. Do I care about this account
(which appears to be hidden? Should I allow it to log in under the covers? If
so, do I have to re-click 'Users must enter a user name and password, etc."

Deleting User Administrator

Jan 27, 2008

Following the installation of a new motherboard a new copy of Windows XP Pro was installed on my computer. I am the only user of this computer. Two user accounts were created: "Administrator" and "Peter". All my programs were reinstalled on "Peter". The computer would only reboot into "Administrator". I called back the engineer and he managed to disable "Administrator". Now when I reboot I get a dialog box telling me that "Administrator" has been disabled and asking me if I want to continue. After clicking "OK" I then get the user accounts screen, I click on "Peter" and the computer boots into "Peter". How can I get the computer to start immediately in "Peter" without all this extra malarky?

Confused Over Administrator User - Memory

Jul 24, 2005

I've read that if there is a User profile other than Administrator existing, then the Administrator user will not show at the signon screen _unless in Safe Mode_. I am using WinXPpro SP2. My memory does not serve me well enough, but I now have: Admin, Another Username, and Guest showing at the signon screen when in Normal mode. I might have changed the first User account five times since getting this PC in January,; it presently shows as Admin and I have assigned a password to it. How can I prove that the "Admin" user actually is or is not the Windows XP administrator account? Need to clarify this issue before going through with copying data files from the existing "Admin" user profile to another profile for my daily routine usage. Perhaps I need to go into Safe Mode and search for an ADMINISTRATOR user profile there?

Computer Administrator User Accounts Messed Up

To mess around and make a new account on the PC as he was logged in as the Administrator of the computer. They had no other accounts except for the default Administrator account that they had used. So the son made a new account which he also granted th permission of computer amdinistrator. since that overworte the previous Administrators account that was on there everytime they log in they get the new account and there is no way to delete the new one that has been created... Even when I tried to go into safe mode and log in as the default administrator for some reason it won't let me delete the account even though you are the Administrator and Microsoft even says."You must be an administrator to delete another administrators account" you can't even change it to a limited Account.
