I recently changed my .net framework to my computer administrator and my user account to limited account and when i turn on my computer it only shows my User account which only has limited access and I can't do anything about it. How can i change back my .net framework to limited and user back to computer administrator again?

Windows XP user account is in my wifes name. If I go into control panel user accounts it shows her name and says administrator .But when I go into safe mode it gives a choice of two accounts one with her name and one for administrator. Is that normal?

When I boot up, my desktop is blank except for the desktop background. In other words, no icons, no start menu, start up programs don’t load, etc. At one point, I got this error:
"Windows cannot find '/idlist, :400:2196,c:'. Make sure you typed the name correcttly, and then try again ..."
(I haven't been able to replicate this error, though. It showed up once.)

I have Windows XP Professional SP2, Dell Inspiron 4000.Ever since I got my computer I've been using the account "Administrator." So all my files and settings are on it. Today I randomly decided to make a new account, unaware that Administrator would disappear. (Apparently, says Windows Help & Support, Administrator is only available in safe mode or when there's no other account.) So now I want to go back to Administrator, but I can't figure out how to delete the new account.

They had no other accounts except for the default Administrator account that they had used. So the son made a new account which he also granted th permission of computer amdinistrator. since that overworte the previous Administrators account that was on there everytime they log in they get the new account and there is no way to delete the new one that has been created... Even when I tried to go into safe mode and log in as the default administrator for some reason it won't let me delete the account even though you are the Administrator and Microsoft even says."You must be an administrator to delete another administrators account" you can't even change it to a limited Account.

I was on it that morning and it worked perfect and i shut it down properly before school only to find that when i got home it wont let me logon to a windows user account. After booting the windows user account pops-up and after selecting my account the computer will shut down. A friend of mine said that there might be something wrong with the winlogon but i cant find any info about that online. Right now im using safe mode with networking and i also tried accecsing the boot menu and selecting "disable automatic restart after system failure". Now rather than restarting it gives me a blue screen that reads:

I have ran the CHKDSK /F with no problems found. And i hope that with this information you may help me fix this very annoying, and most random computer problem.
My main user account has disappeared from the welcome screen. I know all about pressing Ctr+Alt+Del twice and typing in your account and if that doesn't work, to use the "Administrator" account to enable your main account. The problem is that my administrator account doesnt even seem to have any administrator privelages... its just as useless as the guest account, or so it seems.I don't know what to think. If i go to computer management and check out the users i see: Administrator, Guest, and some other SUPPORT_388... but not my main account. IF i go to documents and settings, i see all the accounts, including administrator and guest and my main account. So what's happening?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's apparently a lot safer to use a limited user account, and that's what I'm trying now, but it's also a pain-in-the-a$$.I also don't understand why the XP installer forces you to create another admin account, when you could simply login as 'Administrator'.You're supposed to login to the admin account to install everything, but when you do, in most cases, the shortcuts seem to only be created for the account you're logged into at the time. Very messy.The list goes on, and these things have probably been discussed before, but why is there a single 'Program Files' directory, which all users have access to? Surely there should be a separate directory for each user, so user A cannot access programs installed by user B, unless of course it was meant to be shared?

Once I got it home, however, I discovered that when I tried to install the drivers for my wireless adapter, the InstallShield Wizard would come up and extract the files from the CD and then go away and nothing would happen. When I went to the Windows update site, it would not down load the activeX control to check my computer for needed updates. It did the same thing. It would show that it downloaded the file and then nothing would happen. I talked to a local computer shop and they said they have had a lot of trouble with "broken" Windows Installers lately. So I went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the updated Windows Installer (as they suggested) and this did not change anything.

A friend wanted to buy it so I purchased a copy of Windows XP so they'd have their own license, but instead of rebuilding the box, I wiped all the pertinent programs and info they didn't have licenses for and changed the license number to theirs. The problem is, I want to change the user account name under c:documents and settings to reflect the new name.I have created a new ADMIN account, logged in as this account and renamed the account "mitch" to "don". All this does is creates a new user "don" and moves the "my documents" (I have downloaded numerous pdf files that I've created instructing him on how to update antivirus, antispyware and general info on computer use, security, etc. and placed it in the My Documents folder) from "mitch" to don".

I realise that I will need at least one administrator account on my PC -- so I go into user accounts, create a new administrator account, then I try to change my current account to a limited account, but it will not let me.....
In recently restoring my crashed machine, I noticed that when the machine was
idle, it would go back to the user login screen. I found this tedious as I
just wanted it to go to screen saver but stay within the user session. I ran
'control userpasswords2' and de-clicked 'Users must enter a user name and
password to use this computer.' (It's a home computer so not worried). Now
when I reboot, it brings up a Windows login for Administrator and says,
"Unable to log you on because of an account restriction." I can bypass that
and log in as Owner or anybody else so it's more cosmetic than anything else.Question - who is this "Administrator?" The account doesn't show up under
User Accounts. 'Owner' is the Administrator. Do I care about this account

I'm trying to configute using Command Line (CMD) some local account configuration.
It must be configured by any standart windows command tools.
I need to configure the "Passworw Never Expires" option using the command line.
I had success by setting other options as "Account is disabled" and "User cannot change password". But this option is really making me sad.
what i want to accomplish is to set an user account type automatically after creating one. as you may know, when you create an user account the system ask you what account type to apply for that new user. the default choice are: Administrator and Limited. i want to create an account that is not too limited but neighter with same privilege as an administrator. i went to the Local Users and Groups at the Microsoft Management Console (now on MMC) and assigned a different Group to each users i desired. task accomplished. but...
the problem is that i don't know how many user the computer will have. the owner of the computer are primitive human that don't know how to configure the system. i neighter want any of them to have administrative right because they have internet access and they still on the experiment process. meaning that they're propense to click 'YES' to any message even if those are viruses (most of them don't read english). the solution i thought was to assign only one user the administrative right so they can install and uninstall software and perform other administrative task as creating more user accounts. there is anyway that after creating an user account the system automatically assign the user a specific Groups? for example the built-in object Power User. or among the choice on user account tool add an new item or modify the existing items. or if there is anyway to modify the privilege and right for an built-in object Group. the Limited account pertain to the User Group, so instead of automatically assign other group, the new account inherit the privilage/right/limitation from the default group.
Does anyone know the extension that windows uses when it saves a backup of user data when a user account is deleted in XP?

Two other accounts are normally available on the machine, Mine (named "RedCola") which is a passworded administrator account and a non-passworded limited access account.Tonight when trying to log on I accidentally typed the wrong password. When I entered the correct password on the second time it gave me a message that my account was locked and would have to contact my administrator. I rebooted just in case and the account was not available to select, but the generic Administrator account was now there. When I went into that account to check User Accounts though the Control Panel my account (named RedCola) was not even listed. I rebooted again. At the log-in screen I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del twice and typed in my account name and password. Again, same message about the account being locked.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently went into safe mode for something but I accidentally clicked on the Administrator account instead of my usual one (my username). I didn't do anything while logged in that account and quickly rebooted. Today, I noticed that there is a new entry in C:/Documents and Settings named Administrator, created the same day I went into safe mode. It has things such as Owner's Documents, Desktop, Start Menu, Application Data, Local Settings, etc. (much of the same things All Users and my user name folder has).My question is, is there any way to get rid of this - I'm assuming it's a new account - safely without harming anything in my computer? Is this something I should even be worrying over? The entire folder size is only around 16mb, but like I said, I can be obsessive about things like that.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a simple question but very complicated for me.I need to download software from HP,the only way that I was to download the software was to create a new user account, which I did and the software downloaded, but what happened is that my administrator account disappeared which is were I have all of my documents, pictures etc. I could not figure out how to keep my administrator account and a new user account, so I finally did a system restore which deleted the new user account and gave me back my administrator account and now I don't have the software I downloaded anymore. What is the best way to solve this problem?
