Cant Install TweakUI - Get Directory Could Not Be Located

Apr 1, 2006

Trying to install TweakUI in Win XP and get the following message.

"The procedure entry point GetDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNE32.dll."

Downloaded a new TweakUI.exe file from Windows PowerToys site thinking perhaps the file I had on CD was corrupted, but no joy.

Grouping Tasks Without TweakUI

Aug 12, 2002

Goto[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced]create a dword value named "TaskbarGroupSize"double click the new value and enter the number of open windows before XP groups them together.I prefer 2, but you can go higher.Log off and log back in. You should be good to go. Happy tweaking. (The latter was added after first submission)

Group Tasks In Any Number You Want Without TweakUI

Aug 12, 2002

This little tweak allows you to customize the grouping action on your taskbar. According to the default, if you have more than (ex.) 3 internet explorer windows open, XP will group them into a single button with a menu that lifts off the taskbar. You can change the number of windows that are open before XP groups them.goto[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced]look for the dword "TaskbarGroupSize"If it isn't already there, right click on the right pain, and create a new dword value. Double click the value, and enter the number of windows you want xp to allow open before it groups them. I personally like 2, because I like any related window to be grouped automatically, but, you can set this high if you wish.

Where Is SVCHOST.exe Located?

Jan 15, 2007

I deleted a file called svchost.exe because Norton said it was infected with a virus. I use WinXP sp2. Now I can't find my taskbar at the bottom and I can't go online.I made a full system back up a few days ago.If I can restore this file(s), I think there were three of them, I think I get my computer to work properly again. The problem is where are these files located? If someone could look on their computer and tell me I would appreciate it.There variations on svchost.I know one was svchost.exe. I also know one was located in Documents and Settings.

Ordinal 6663 Could Not Be Located In Dll Mfc42.dll

Sep 12, 2006

I know that most of us have had a dll issue at some time or another. However, with xp pro, I have been lucky enough not to have any at all.

A pc has been cursed with dllhell, so please suggest any ideas/solutions.

Before xp pro has finished booting (which takes ages anyway) the following message appears:-

'the ordinal 6663 could not be located in dll mfc42.dll' (related to launapp)

A possibly related issue to this is that some strange things happen with the system (windows explorer crashes and restarts if some programs are opened, or if I access the external usb disc drive. It makes sense to deal with one problem at a time.

Outlook Express Files Are Located Where

Sep 8, 2005

I'm trying to take a shortcut in Outlook Express using it's mail modification security feature to filter out spam emails. I would like to be able to copy and paste all of my "spam rules" from my computer onto the system of other family members using a USB storage device. This would end up saving considerable time by avoiding the input of over 150 words (this amount is always growing), one at a time, into each computers OE mail modification security feature. I've look in the WINOWS folder and can't find where the OE files are all kept, and specifically, the spam rules. I've been to the OE folder before but can't remember for the life of me what the address is.

No Access To The Temp Directory

Nov 18, 2008

All aplications that use the temp directory are crashing on my computer. It only happens when I am logged into my account (so if logged in as another user the system works fine). If I try to view the temp directory then explorer crashes as soon as the mouse hovers over the folder icon. I have tried disk cleanup, it crashes. Using cmd prompt "dir %temp%" it crashes too. I have run NOD32 antivirus and it finds nothing. I have tried XoftSpy and Search and Destroy but they both crash. I have tried safe mode and that is no good either! I have logged into administrator and tried to view and delete the temp folder but that also fails!.Have you heard of this before, I did read a forum (not here) where someone had the exact same problem but it went unsolved. Could it be a virus that NOD32 can't detect?
