View 1 RepliesTrying to install TweakUI in Win XP and get the following message.
"The procedure entry point GetDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNE32.dll."
Downloaded a new TweakUI.exe file from Windows PowerToys site thinking perhaps the file I had on CD was corrupted, but no joy.

You should be good to go. Happy tweaking. (The latter was added after first submission)

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis little tweak allows you to customize the grouping action on your taskbar. According to the default, if you have more than (ex.) 3 internet explorer windows open, XP will group them into a single button with a menu that lifts off the taskbar. You can change the number of windows that are open before XP groups them.goto[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced]look for the dword "TaskbarGroupSize"If it isn't already there, right click on the right pain, and create a new dword value. Double click the value, and enter the number of windows you want xp to allow open before it groups them. I personally like 2, because I like any related window to be grouped automatically, but, you can set this high if you wish.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHI, I just installed windows 2000 professional onto my computer. Everything works fine except that the resolution is really grainy. On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. Does anybody know a way in which I can get around this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I right click almost anything I get the explorer has encountered a problem and has to close. always the faulting module kernel32.dll. Then immediately another box appears with the drwatson postmortem debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close, I then have to ctrl alt del to close the drwtsn.exe and get my desktop back.
I have been having problems in psp7 with ntdll being the faulting module.
I run the bare minimum start up programs and have ran all virus and spyware scans. I have googled this problem until.

Every tme I am starting any new software on my windows 98 SE, I get an odd message error with black exclamation on yellow trian gle background: "Plik SWISHMAX.EXE jest polączony z brakującym eksportem KERNEL32.DLL:RestoreLAstError." And in English: "The file SWISHMAX.exe {the name of program} is connected to lost export KERNEL32.DLL:RestoreLastError".
Then I click ok, and there appearsnew error message: The device can't work.
I've been getting a lot of trouble with my computer lately; specifically, the desktop will disappear and show nothing but my background, then reappear, but some things in the taskbar tray will be gone, including Norton. Some programs reappear, but Norton never does until I restart. First off, is this Explorer crashing?
This error has been posted here before and Rollin' Rog has given me some pointers but to no avail. The problem that a friend of mine is facing is the following:

"The procedure entry point CreateDirEctoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"
Now I'm no genius, but I think something has gone horribly wrong... is there any solution?
Can you help me get the KERNEL32 back in it's right place? This is the messege that popped up on the desktop on Windows 2000 OS:

Both IE7 and Outlook crash when viewing certain websites. Both come up with a

I just purchased a used Dell Dimension 4700, it came without the OS installed or the resource cd with all the drivers. I installed the OS this afternoon, but in the device manager serveral yellow ? came up. The flags are listed for the ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, PCI modem, SM Bus controller, unknown device, and the video controller (vga compatible).
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter suffering months of freezing PC and blue screens (primarily the dreaded kernel stack error. I have done tried all the recovery tricks from here and MS website, done chkdsk /f & /r repeatedly over four days without using the PC in between, and all the other stuff from here and Microsoft. Bought an expensive Reg cleaner and run it repeatedly. No luck. No recently installed soft or hardware. New Dell desktop. 1 year of trouble-free life until this. I now boot from the recovery XP CD (it includes SP2) to try to reformat the whole shebang and it gets as far as loading setup files OK, then as usual tries to start load windows installation and ... blue screen. STOP error 0x0000007B (OXF78D2524 OXC0000034, OX00000000, OX00000000).
Decided to buy a new HDD and install XP on that. (3 weeks from Dell!) and in machine. Old one disconnected. Tried installing XP from disk. It stalls at exactly the same moment as before (loads up preliminary files, gets to ""starting Windows" and then the dreaded blue screen with the same error message as before. 0X0000007B (OXF78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000). So presumably not HD (although always good to have one). Have downloaded Memtest and run it for 24 hours. No RAM errors reported.
In Win-Explorer, whenever I right-click on a file or folder, then I get a dread message that "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close"; the error points to kernel32.dll and eventually a similar message comes up regarding Dr.Watson.
Q. Is there any way other than a re-install of WinXP to re-enable the right click function?
Q. Is there some utility that I might run to restore the capability that I had or perhaps to UNinstall something that I could possibly put back?
Since I'd don't right click very often, am not sure but believe that the problem may have resulted from the installation of Nero8Ultra.
Each time i start up my Windows 2000 proffesional pc, I get an error message "kernel32.dll" just in a grey box and no options or anything. I had a problem withmy pc a while ago, had it wiped, and the other day i went on, it came up, i wasnt sure what it was so i just closed it :s, then i did my weekly virus scan, however mcafee doesnt work, also the internet is unbelieveably slow and often just says this page is unavailable. Msn messenger still works fine though?
View 14 Replies View RelatedAfter installing xp home updates yesterday, my machine rebooted itself, then continued to reboot (xp would start to load then my pc would reset itself and start booting again)
Booting windows with the "dont automatically restart system on failure" option revealed I had a corrupt kernel32.dll, which was fixed by using recovery console to copy the file over again.
Once this is done, xp will boot. Then it tells me to update.

I deleted the IE 6 because it was giving me an error when I tried to open it and got Mozilla because I was tired of trying to figure it out, yes I know, what a way to handle it heh. there are things I need IE for, MSN Messenger winks for one unless someone has found a way to make it work without IE. I installed IE7 on my computer, but it is doing the exact same thing that IE6 was, error when you try to open it Internet Explorere encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have been trying to fix an issue with a friends computer. Problem is I'm not very computer savvy :S So that's where you all come in :P I do have some knowledge of computer's and usually catch on pretty quickly. Basically I have been noticing my friends comp has become increasingly slow over the last week I have scanned with AVG and found a change in the following:
Shell32.dll, kernel32.dll, hosts, user32.dll, ntoskrnl.dll
I have tried searching for the shell32.dll and found it only to be in the C:/windows/system32 folder as someone recommended in another post I had read on here..Those are the only items showing in a complete scan of the system so I have no idea what is causing this..Also she has been noticing an increased amount of pop ups even when explorer is not running? I believe they are CID or CDI pop ups.
ive installed a game called big city adventure but wen i go to run it i get - the ordinal 947 could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll. ive tried reinstallin the game but still get it, ive even updated my directx n also deleted the game shortcut on desktop n resent it to desktop from the game folder but nothin helps. y am i gettin this error msg n how can i resolve it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had some problems with my system that resulted in me wanting to format and reinstall Windows XP. I booted from the install CD and after the program loaded the drivers at the beginning, the program shut down during "Starting Windows" and I got a blue screen error. Your typical XP error, "Your computer has been shut down before any more harm is caused to it." and something about pci.sys and then a memory location at the bottom of the screen. I tried installing 2 different versions of Windows from 3 different CDs and all froze at the same with the same error. I also attempted to run a diagnostic program from the hard drive manufacturer (Seagate) which freezes whenever I run it (I get to a prompt but I'm unable to type anything). I was able to install Windows onto the hard drive fine when I hooked it into a friends' system but when I put the hard drive back in my system I got "Error loading the operating system." (I assume you need to install Windows on the system that will be using it? It ran fine when hooked into my friend's computer) So, here I am unable to load an OS onto my system and I have no clue as to why. My computer is a Dell Dimension 9100 P4 system.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am installing Windows XP-Home full Edition on a formatted hard drive (C). When I insert the XP CD into the CD ROM, it goes through a setup process, but continues to go through the same process over and over, restarting the computer and copying what seems to be the same files over and over. Is this
normal? If so, how many times does it take to complete the setup? Is there
another process?
I've just recently lost an old HDD to mechanical fault/corruption and so invested in a new 250GB one to replace it [including a switch from FAT32 to the NTFS file system]. I've been through the standard process of installing my copy of Windows XP Home SP2 and it seemed to work fine at first. An important point to note is that my %homedrive% (boot drive), on which my copy of Windows is installed is I:. I'm not as knowledgable when it comes to booting and system files as I am in other areas, and so I need help. I realised this straight away but thought little of it and went on installing my required drivers that came on the other CD I got when purchasing my computer originally (separate drivers CD to the Windows installation disk). For my graphics card drivers (NVIDIA GeForce 5300 drivers) [both latest downloaded version and version from my drivers CD], the installation causes an error just as it begins to install the files/components/etc.:
Windows - No Disk
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive .
After multiple times of clicking any combination of the three options (Cancel; Try Again; Continue) I receive:
NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP Display Drivers
There is not enough space on drive C: to extract this package.
Please free up 20.28MB and click retry.
[Clicking retry tosses back the Windows - No disk error again which in turn tosses back the NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP Display Drivers error etc.]
At was when I first came across this I realised some programs/operations I may wish to run in future will obviously run into problems such as this. I was searching for an easy way to rectify the problem by changing my boot drive letter to C:, though realising that without a full reformatting and reinstallation of Windows this would most likely cause major boot errors and such, and if not, problems with associations in the registry and etcetera...[I did find an article in the Windows Knowledge Base explaining this could be done but my computer told me otherwise] I'm more than prepared to reformat and re-install... But I don't understand how a drive letter is assigned in the first place. If anyone could please take the time to refer me to a resource that will describe how or give an explanation as to how I've ended up with my boot drive as I: and how to rectify, I would be very grateful! [I'm guessing it's because it's the last piece of hardware that was inserted into my computer and I followed the standard proceedure for Installing windows... But I couldn't say for sure.
I've also consulted the customer support section of the NVIDIA site, also google and this forum's search feature with little luck.
