I was thinking about adding some memory to my computer tomorrow. Where on Windows 2000 would I find what type of RAM to buy or would I be better off pulling a stick out of the computer and taking it to the store with me? I have 196 megs of RAM right now and I can't run my virus and spyware without slowing to a standstill. I read somewhere that now a days you need almost a gig of RAM. Is that true? How much Ram can they put on one stick now?
When I right click almost anything I get the explorer has encountered a problem and has to close. always the faulting module kernel32.dll. Then immediately another box appears with the drwatson postmortem debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close, I then have to ctrl alt del to close the drwtsn.exe and get my desktop back. I have been having problems in psp7 with ntdll being the faulting module. I run the bare minimum start up programs and have ran all virus and spyware scans. I have googled this problem until. Im running windows xp pro sp2. AMD 2400 Have loads of disk space and plenty of free RAM.LV.
Every tme I am starting any new software on my windows 98 SE, I get an odd message error with black exclamation on yellow trian gle background: "Plik SWISHMAX.EXE jest polączony z brakującym eksportem KERNEL32.DLL:RestoreLAstError." And in English: "The file SWISHMAX.exe {the name of program} is connected to lost export KERNEL32.DLL:RestoreLastError".
Then I click ok, and there appearsnew error message: The device can't work.
I've been getting a lot of trouble with my computer lately; specifically, the desktop will disappear and show nothing but my background, then reappear, but some things in the taskbar tray will be gone, including Norton. Some programs reappear, but Norton never does until I restart. First off, is this Explorer crashing?
This error has been posted here before and Rollin' Rog has given me some pointers but to no avail. The problem that a friend of mine is facing is the following:
While she's surfing the net and a link opens a new window, the new window opens but the moment she closes this new created window, IE crashes which results in the following error in the eventlog (dutch Windows XP SP2
i've tried system recovery, system restore, deleteing the stupid thing and downloading it, i've tried deteling anything that might have ANYTHING to do with the program.i also tried to download KERNEL32.dll from somewhere to replace the one in my WINDOWS/SYSTEM file but they wont let me.

Both IE7 and Outlook crash when viewing certain websites. Both come up with a kernel32.dll error. I've tried many, many things with no sucess. Here's the IE7 error:AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.6000.165544 ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.3119 Offset: 0004b15d Outlook Error: AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 11.0.8169.0 AppStamp: 465f28e3 ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.3119 ModStamp: 46239bd5 fDebug: 0 Offset: 0004b15d
I am trying to design and get a Website up and running. I am finding this confusing enough. Then Dreamweaver told me I ought to check to see if IIS (Internet Information Server) was installed, so I did (it wasn't - no C:/Inetpub). Then, again following directions, I went to Control Panel/ Add or Remove Programs/ Add or Remove Window Components to install IIS.
Not an option. So I went to www.microsoft.com/downloads and could find all sorts of ancillary helpers to IIS (Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Resource Kit Tools, Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager for Windows XP, Internet Information Services (IIS) Lockdown Tool 2.1) but noplace from which I could just download IIS 6.0.
In Win-Explorer, whenever I right-click on a file or folder, then I get a dread message that "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close"; the error points to kernel32.dll and eventually a similar message comes up regarding Dr.Watson.
Q. Is there any way other than a re-install of WinXP to re-enable the right click function?
Q. Is there some utility that I might run to restore the capability that I had or perhaps to UNinstall something that I could possibly put back?
Since I'd don't right click very often, am not sure but believe that the problem may have resulted from the installation of Nero8Ultra.
Each time i start up my Windows 2000 proffesional pc, I get an error message "kernel32.dll" just in a grey box and no options or anything. I had a problem withmy pc a while ago, had it wiped, and the other day i went on, it came up, i wasnt sure what it was so i just closed it :s, then i did my weekly virus scan, however mcafee doesnt work, also the internet is unbelieveably slow and often just says this page is unavailable. Msn messenger still works fine though?
After installing xp home updates yesterday, my machine rebooted itself, then continued to reboot (xp would start to load then my pc would reset itself and start booting again)
Booting windows with the "dont automatically restart system on failure" option revealed I had a corrupt kernel32.dll, which was fixed by using recovery console to copy the file over again.
Once this is done, xp will boot. Then it tells me to update.
I play an online game and have played for 3 years. recently i havnt played because im getting a kernel32.exe failure. Well wow that really sucks. So im like. meh forget it ill just reformat. It starts the setup and what not and says. if you want to install windows xp press enter. or repair press r ok i press enter. Then it says that it cant find my hardrive. but all my files are there. i replaced the IDE cable and made sure my drive was set to master and was plugged in right. Nothing.i checked bios. so i get a new hard drive. my commputer gets a ndlr error on boot up.
I deleted the IE 6 because it was giving me an error when I tried to open it and got Mozilla because I was tired of trying to figure it out, yes I know, what a way to handle it heh. there are things I need IE for, MSN Messenger winks for one unless someone has found a way to make it work without IE. I installed IE7 on my computer, but it is doing the exact same thing that IE6 was, error when you try to open it Internet Explorere encountered a problem and needs to close.
I have been trying to fix an issue with a friends computer. Problem is I'm not very computer savvy :S So that's where you all come in :P I do have some knowledge of computer's and usually catch on pretty quickly. Basically I have been noticing my friends comp has become increasingly slow over the last week I have scanned with AVG and found a change in the following:
I have tried searching for the shell32.dll and found it only to be in the C:/windows/system32 folder as someone recommended in another post I had read on here..Those are the only items showing in a complete scan of the system so I have no idea what is causing this..Also she has been noticing an increased amount of pop ups even when explorer is not running? I believe they are CID or CDI pop ups.

I am running on a windows xp media center edition, and YES, I have went to Right click on desktop , Properties, Clicked on the desktop tab, Customize desktop, and I do not have the option to lock my desktop items checked, so I am not sure why they are staying locked in place?

The field seems to be missing and, the login administrators names is in its place. It cannot be used for the walk in public because we do not want people to use that system for the simple reason of security. Is there a way to bring up the login field? The password field opens up.Why does xp show the color user login icons when it comes to this window after loging in? I would like the user not administrators name to pop up in the login name field every time. and can group pilicy template be moved from one xp desktop to another for replication purpouses? I am a 'Novice' to Backups, but am trying to learn.Where is the best place to save Backup files? I am running XP Prof. and carefully ran the Backup utility. I noticed the different options on places to save the files. I noticed I can save it to the 'D' drive (external disc), or my 'C' drive (hard drive). What happens if I save it to my 'C' drive, and my pc crashes. How do I retreive my Backup files, if I cannot turn on my pc? Is it best to save them on disc?
