Unable To Install PC Guard Form Virgin Media
Aug 30, 2007I have been with NTL now Virgin Media for a year, and have used there Sec package for the same amount of time with no problems, within the last two weeks, I had to uninstall and then reinstall PC Guard, I had a problem with the activation page, it was there fault they had a problem, I now can down load it, but at the end of the install it says, unable to load required security drivers [pkt] and then this no. 2146500093.

Jan 4, 2007I installed a brand spanking new HDD into a machine. Used the XP setup disk to format the HDD and ran thru the complete installation. It as too late before I noticed that the boot drive was designated as F instead of C. I thought it had to do with the way the IDE cables or the power plug are sequenced inside, but apparently you cannot change the drive letter for the boot drive. It is not too late to re do the install, but how can I designate HDD as C instead of F.I don't even know why it would do that.Would there be any problems with keeping the boot drive as F instead of C?I am giving this PC to someone since I don't need it, but I have never had the boot drive other than C before.

Apr 29, 2008my pc broke down so i reinstalled windows xp with a disc, i lost all the files on it (not a prob) but i cant get my internet to work on it. its says there is no connection but i know there is cos i have it running on this one. its a cable modem for virgin media. i get a message saying registry for internet is corrupted?

Oct 24, 2006We had pcguard as the defences provided by blueyonder, our broadband provide,r for about a year and it worked very well. They then announced a new version and when I downloaded it, the windows were too small for the screens behind them and the procedure was unusable. I asked blueyonder for help but ended up with a frozen pc. I managed to restart it myself and then, tried to uninstall the new pcguard but it won't go away. There is a possibility to instal a new version of the pcguard, but it will not install because the former version will not go. The computer has been behaving strangely since. e.g. :
1] Saying it has to configure HP1Z423 for some things like email or internet, which it did not do before.
2] Starting up in something which looks a bit like safe mode screen, but when enter is pressed, it starts up normally.

Jan 10, 2009This is a malware disguising as an anti-virus software. This thing is pure evil, it simply can't not be gotten rid off. I have tried restoring my system, I have used LavaSoft's Ad-Aware, AVG, SpyHunter and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which has worked the best but still has not eradicated the vermin. I have found the Registry line for this thing but it can not delete and I have full permission on the computer and it is set to permission for everyone. Anytime I try moving or deleting this thing I just get an error message. Worse yet I hooked up my ipod to the computer and now I think the virus is is my Ipod. So will I have to toss out my Ipod because it might infect any thing I hook it up too?

Nov 4, 2009a Dell XPS 400 w/ Windows XP Media Edition, became infected with Personal Guard spyware.....Tried to remove with MalWare Bytes but it wouldn't let me get to the .exe file for it.... Tried deleting the files, and registry data for it....still didn't work....Finally the machine shut down and now wil not boot up..... The Dell POST screen loads, but then it sticks trying to load Windows.

At that point we tried the trail scan, it identified 200 threats and advised to remove the threats.We removed the threats, however since then Spyware Guard continues to pop up and scan during every start up. Dec 18, 2008a program called "System Guard 2008" has installed itself. It slowed down quite a bit and eventually crashed on me. Now it wont boot up all the way. I turn it on, it will get all the way to the Windows password screen, then once I enter my password and click on the green arrow, I get a warning message that my paginf file is either non existant or too small. Then once I click "OK" on that warning message, the screen blacks out, restarts the boot process, gets to the password screen, and that cycle just continues over and over. Review each security warning to ensure that the content is signed by Microsoft, and then click Install or Yes to install the software.and that is where it stops. It will not go any further. Page says 'done'. I have let is sit for hours and still nothing. When I go to Control Panel and click on 'Windows Firewall' the message I get is: Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings. I am not sure if this is part of the problem or not. I have recently done a Compaq System Recovery, but not a destructive recovery, just to restore the original files that were loaded when machine was new. Since then I have not been able to download windows updates. Everything else seems to work fine. If anyone has any answers I would be very grateful.My computer is Compaq Presario P8654T S3000T (OEM) running window XP, 2.40 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4, 512 kilobyte memory, on a cable modem.

Feb 17, 2007Ever since I downloaded Windows Explorer 7 I have serious problems with ordinary functions, like double clicking on URLs or highlighted items. In hotmail it won't let me delete spam, but other clicks it allows me. Copying and pasting is also non-functional. I also use Firefox, so now I do almost everything on it.
Another problem is that my computer won't let me download programs that require Active X., not even its own Windows programs. How can I change that? I think that although I've always owned the computer, the pc doesn't recognize me as having administrative powers. That may because my computer repair guy tinkered with the controls.

Sep 13, 2005actually at my work place i'm trying to download some hindi mp3 music files but somehow it not working. as I'm trying to right click on the song link and by selecting 'save target as' its openning the dailog box to save it but at this point it trying to save as HTML documents instead of mp3 format.if i try manuaaly to change file extension from html to mp3 than i can not play this file as it gives error about class-file of media player.I checked on Internet explorer tools internet option and security tab and verfied download file is enabled.

While long formatting process is going on I want to ask: Will SP2 download automatically once I have disc installed on my new HD and connect to internet? ebay seller said SP2 was included but package says nothing of the kind.
