Buttons Changed Performing
Oct 6, 2007Rebooted the pc with the discs and now the @ button is number 2 .it shows the @ button middle row of letters where it always was . how do i change it back .

Cannot Log In After Performing Scheduled Chkdsk
Jul 30, 2009ASUS F5VL laptop running XP Pro
I used "my computer", tools to schedule a chkdsk. It asked if that should be done when the system next booted, and I then proceeded to reboot.
The chkdsk ran clean, and reported same just before Windows started. I'm now at the login screen and when I click on my user it does not open the login form. I can move the mouse pointer around but when I click the login form does not appear.Any ideas?

Oct 15, 2009My external hard drive has suddenly stopped working.My computer can see the drive (but not the drive label) and the shortcut I have for the drive will open it but when it does there is nothing there.I have downloaded a few so called free data recovery pieces of software and they can all see the data on my drive with no problems, even stuff I'd previously deleted seems to be available for recovery, however, as soon as you try to recover the data these "free to use" tools need to be registered and paid for.

May 20, 2010I was trying to do a OS recovery (Repair) using a Dell XP pro SP3 disk on a Dell Dimension 8400. When I try to boot XP it goes to the XP boot screen Then I get a blue screen. I was hopeing just to do a repair but I keep getting no HDD found! The HDD is a seagate 160 gig SATA it is present in setup as 0 drive. I have ran a seagate test it sees the HDD. So does Ubuntu in fact thas how I got to this point.

Mar 1, 2005I changed from a dial-up connection to cable (Road Runner). Since then, my search engines have changed (when I search from the IE address bar, it uses MSN search now), and many pages that load, although faster, have the message "error on page" at the bottom. Outlook Express became my default email with the Road Runner email address, but most of the time it does not respond. Also, several games are slow to respond or do not respond at all (specifically CSI games and Hunting Unlimited). I run adaware and spybot at least once a week if not more, and defrag regularly. Are there extra precautions I should take with a cable connection?

For example if you bring up display properties all the tabs at the top, and all buttons on the screen are not drawn, nor are the text labels. And it is not only display properties, anything that uses the same draw tecniques no longer draw. And even stranger, it is this way even in safe mode.

Completely vanished without a trace. Instead, I just have a silver title bar across the top, with the Minimise, close and maximise buttons, and the name of the program. But it's most annoying, particularly when i get lost in a folder tree and can't back up without using the backspace key!

Dec 29, 2006In folder options - view- advanced settings- hidden files and folders, both radio buttons are selected, for about a month now. Normally "do not show hidden files"is only selected.
