I frequently visited an investment site, then suddenly I started receiving "this page cannot be displayed" messages, and down in the lower left it said Unknown zone instead of Internet when I tried to connect.. do you know which setting has been changed, or could one of my kids accidentally have blocked this site
I did for a while activate the "prompt" alternative on Favorites/Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Advanced to block unwanted cookies. Then I blocked cookies from a site that I usually visit, marking the "always." option. The result was that I was blocked from entering the site. I then reversed all of my previous actions, letting the browser deal automatically with cookies as it saw fit (greying out all the rest of the alternatives on that window), restarted the computer and returned to the site. But all I get is a pop-up saying "You must activate cookies on your browser", at various stages, sometimes after I give the password and all, sometimes as soon as the home window comes up. I repeated all the a/m actions several times, but with the same result. I have XP with SP2, IE6, Pentium d. Any help will be appreciated - Amos.
I am currently running the free version of ZoneAlarm so that I can use the firewall. I am getting a blocked message that indicated that the firewall blocked something that seems to be coming from my cable internet provider.
I am having an unusual problem with my Windows XP computer. Occasionally when I am on a web site (any web site) all of a sudden the web site will disappear and the desktop will show up.
I ran AdAware, Spybot S&D, and AVG on a computer running Win XP.Upon completion I get an error message when trying to get on my banking site that says the browser cannot run Javascript, that it may be missing or disabled. How do I enable it or download it?

When I click on a desktop shortcut to access a program like Google or C Net I get a message that says the above (in the subject title) It says also "be sure you typed the name corectly and try again. If I do nothing, the site is accessed some15 or 20 seconds later. If I type the site (such as Google.com) into my browser the computer accesses the site immediately without the error message. Can I correct this problem? Computer information is in my profile. This has started recently. A scan for spyware and adware is clean.
Trying to copy my resume to cd rw drive and the file is html file the cd is a rw 650mb cd and file size that I am trying to copy is 14.1 kb it is a new cd every time I try it give me an error message.
I inadvertently blocked a Web site on my home computer. All mail from this site has images blocked and most links not working, and I can't access the Web site in Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Netscape browsers suddenly. However, if I read my email or try to access the site on another computer, everything is fine. I remember clicking something having to do with the content on this page being "unsigned," but I haven't been able to find a way to fix the problem. When I've cleared cookies, history, cache, files, and unchecked all security everywhere, I sometimes can access the Web site until I close the browser and re-open it (even with no changes made), but the images and links are still blocked in my hotmail.
I screwed around with some of the settings with my firewall and stuff and now when i go to surf the web, on most of the webpages this warning comes up ... "Security Warning: The Current Webpage is trying to open a site in your Trusted sites list. Do you want to allow this?"
For some reason every time I install anything related to Windows Installer I get the error that the access to the file is denied? So why is this happening?
Trying to open MS Outlook but when I try to I am getting the following error virtual memory too low. Windows is increasing virtual memory paging file" but everytime I try rebooting and opening it again, it still happens. I am using XP os.
I just switch hosts for one of my web sites. I change the name servers and they have propgated because I checked the DNS on a DNS report website and the domain name points to the new host. Everyone can connect to the new host and view my web site except for me. The only way I can connect and view my web site is if I go to it through a proxy. I tried flushing the cache. I tried clearing the temporary internet files and history. I tried disabling the negative caching through the registry. I tried restarting the dns client service.
I use Serif Page Plus 9 to create my web site and added sound files which used to work perfectly when published but now when previewing my site in webbrowser and publishing my site to the web there is no sound.
I'm having a problem here...I have zonealarm suite and norton antivirus on my com. But recently, I have switched my antivirus to kaspersky, the problem is, every time I start the com, zonealarm will warn me and ask me to enable zonealarm antivrus, which I think it should not be case since I have kaspersky load on every startup. I even check the 'Don't show this message....' in the warning message, but it didn't help. Hence, could somebody please enlighten me on how to switch off the warning?
Another problem I'm having is, I see something in msconfig, under startup, the item is %systemroot%system32dumprep 0 -k, I tried to search in google what this is but to no avail, search results shown only dumprep 0 -u, and not dumprep 0 -k. Is this two thing the same? Would disable it do me any harm? And what does it do to my com if I enable it?
I just remove a program using add/remove program. Only then I remembered that i put some files in that program folder. It seem add/remove also delete the folder with all it's contents. Is there anyway I can retrive my files back?
I am hoping someone can help! I did some disk cleanup and in add/remove programs, I deleted programs that, according to add/remove, had not been used in a few years and were taking up space. I did this b/c my PC was running super slow. (if anyone has advice for this ailment I will welcome all responses)Anyway, I inadvertently deleted my calculator, character map and iexplore.exe. I found a free download for calculator, but the other two apps I am at a loss for. I have searched for the files and looked under "all programs" and cannot find either one.
WINDOWSSystem32smss.exe and C:WINDOWSsystem32winlogon.exe were accidently deleted. How can I get them back. My system retore was turned off so no chance going there if this was any possibility.
Does anyone know how i can manually recover my files. I would prefer to do it myself cause its free or if you can point me to some good freeware that will help me recover my files.
I bought a 400 gig drive to move all my video data onto and in the process of repartitioning the few 80 gig drives in my external firewire enclosure I deleted the partition on my 400 gig drive with all my video. You can't delete a file in XP without it prompting you, then it goes to your trash bin, then it prompts you before emptying the trah in. But delteing a partition is a simple right click and no mesagebox to confirm.
I run Firefox 3.0.3 under Windows XP SP2 Home. I have downloaded, a new batch of .jpg files from a trustworthy site that I have been using without any problem for a couple of years. With the latest batch of files I find that whenever I try to open any one with PaintShop Pro, I get an Open File - Security Warning asking me if I really want to open it from an unknown publisher.
If I check the file's properties, I find it is blocked. I can unblock each file individually, either by changing the property or by checking an option on the Security Warning.
I can see no reason for this happening suddenly. I have found various possible solutions proposed (but for slightly different environments or file-types), but they do not work for me. Is there any really proven solution for either preventing the blocking in the first place or removing the block en block?
www.myspace.com is blocked from my computer, when i type it in this is what is says... 401 The website is blocked by administrator. i know for a fact that the website didnt block me, it was my dad who blocked it from my computer, how do i get it back, or unblock it without just using a proxy server or proxy website?

I am not sure if MS or IE or McAfee is doing this. I have been downloading a lot of files for my PSP program. I have notices in properties it is saying the file is blocked and I can unblock by clicking etc.
I don't know where this block is coming from or what limitations it is posing. I want to unblock all of them at one time.
when my computer starts up, my background changes into a blue color and im unable to chage it back, because when i rigth click and go to properties, the background chaging section is blocked and you can only pick some colors.
My internet connection is being blocked after roughly 15 mins, so i have to restart or disconnect to get it back, upon reconnecting another 15 mins pass and it does it again. I'm running zone alarm free firewall, avg anti virus and ad ware filter. i know i can do something with win sock but im don't know how to do it.
When i go to Documents and settings, i can see the inside of my own folder, the other administrator folder, my 12 years old limited-user folder - but not my 8-year old sister's limited-user folder! It pops up an "error" saying: Cocuments and settings/"Lisa" is not accessible. "No access"and it shows that the folder contains 0 byte. When I logg in to her account, then I can check what is inside.
All of a sudden I can not download any programs, music files etc. I just get the above message in my Mozilla Firefox download screen. The same thing happened when I tried Internet Explorer.
I am running Windows XP and using Firefox 3.0.1. The problem is that Download blocked by Security Zone Policy, I have gone into the Internet section of control panel and reduced the zone protection to the minimum. I have turned the firewall in McAfee off. These actions did not have any effect. I am not aware of any other program on my computer that would cause this to happen. I use Sypware Doctor, but I disabled that also. My computer is set to load Windows updates automatically and that would be the only software updated I might have loaded.
For some unknown reason my anti virus will not update as it says there is no connection that it could find to update with, which I find rather suspicious. I could neither access ANY antivirus websites either. ex www.grisoft.com, www.mcafee.com, www.symantec.com.
So I done a clean install formatting my hard drive fully and starting from scratch. And to my fear I still could not access ANY antivirus sites still.
I had only installed AVG Free and Firefox. Even before I connected the net to the computer I put AVG on just to be safe and it still would not update.
