Abnormally Slow System / Mouse Clicks Not Recognized
Jun 20, 2006
My system has been running very slow, mouse clicks are not being recognized. I've run all of my spyware/virus software, deleted all temp files, deleted all temp internet files and have run a defrag. I don't know what else to do.
I have an older Dell with windows XP and lately when i double click on something either on the desktop or elsewhere, the computer won't pick up that the mouse is clicking on it.Then other times it's perfectly fine.it seems to be slow at "thinking" sometimes when i open firefox and clicking in Firefox web pages it doesn't notice that i'm clicking on stuff...so there are times when i'm constantly clicking on an icon to open it!
I've used AVG Free 8.0, Spybot - Search and Destroy, Windows Defender, firewall on, all my anti-virus stuff updated, so I don't know what's wrong. I've physically checked my mouse, cleaned it etc., didn't find anything wrong. I also played with mouse settings, and did the little test thing to open and close the folder, and it still double clicked. I also play Call of Duty 4, and my weapon will like 'jam' up. I have found some suspicious things, like some 'Virtumonde' and 'DoubleClick' thing on my virus scans, and the DoubleClick one says it is like some tracking cookie. (No matter how many times I delete it, it comes back.) I can't tell you how annoying it is when I have a window behind a window and it exits them both out because my mouse suddenly double clicks. I also know I am not PHYSICALLY double clicking it instead of clicking it once.
I need help with an XP desktop setting issue. I had a mouse issue and in the process,I clicked or right clicked on or near the task bar by the clock. Now I've got a colored box on the left quarter of the desktop which has "folder tasks"on top, "other places" in the middle and "details" on the bottom. This doesn't affect using any other program......its just on the desktop taking up space.
im back again and again I have a problem.. I am curently using my mothers computer and it is loading extremely slow? For instance, im re-downloading yahoo messenger and it normallly takes 7 minutes whereas now its taking up to an hour. Whats going on?
I own a Dell Dimension 8400 system. I recently tried to download the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility for the chipset from the Dell support website. As the installation of the software was completing, the computer froze and I turned it off. Now, when I reboot, the mouse and the keyboard aren't recognized after Windows XP loads. The mouse and keyboard do work before Windows XP loads.
First off i downloaded video ax object a few days ago and i then read up about it and realized it was a virus. From everything i read, it should show up in add/remove programs and in programfiles folder. It showed up in neither, the only thing i found was a folder named video ax access or something like that in programfiles folder but the folder was empty and no hidden files in it so i deleted it. When I downloaded setup.exe of the video ax object and double-clicked on it and agreed. Then it quickly installed without specifying where to save it?? Computer was totally fine for about 2-3 days no problems.
Well I about had enough with my computer messing up on me, so I backed up all my important files and reinstalled windows all over again. Everyone suggested I tried to do sfc /scannow, but that wouldn't work and no one gave me an alternative idea, so I just fell back onto my last resort: Starting over. However, it seems even starting over has brought me a headache. The good news is, all my important files have been saved and I can easilly grab them. The bad news is, everything else isn't working the way I wanted it to.The scroll bar is slow. Very very slow. It's supposed to be smooth in scrolling up and down the page whether it be on the internet or in file folders, but it has incredible lag to it, scrolling by doing "screen wipes" I guess would be the best way to call it.
Ignore the siggie info; the problem is on a separate computer, a Compax laptop. There is 256MB physical memory and 2GB virtual memory. The C: disk has heaps of room on it. It has Avast AV, Spybot, Adaware and Spyware Blaster and uses the XP firewall. All are up to date and all come up clean when checked. I do a monthly defrag and have Easy Cleaner and empty unnecessary files and surplus registry entries monthly. Despite all this it seems to run abnormally slowly, particularly when bringing up onboard stuff like OE, IE and other programs. Downloading internet sites seem pretty reasonable.
I get random/frequent clicking any time that I'm logged on to my user name on our family computer. I'm running XP Media Center. I went to ''control panel/Sounds/change sound scheme'' and identified the clicking to be ''Start Navigation''. I know that I could just turn the click off, but I was hoping to figure out what was causing this anoying click. I ran Adaware and did a virus scan but neither fixed the problem.
My Epson scanner suddenly won't work. I keep getting this error message: RPC connection with ScanManager terminated abnormally then escndv.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.I've been back and forth with Epson, who advised me to uninstall the program, download their newest driver, and reinstall.
What happens with the MBR on a disk which was used before as system disk and has not been formatted, but only files deleted. Is it still recognized as a system disk?
I'm now praying that this will get fixed--my computer isn't recognizing any cd's I put in my d drive. It won't show up anywhere and when I go to my device manager there's a red x on top of the cd icon. I don't have any viruses or anything-I've run everything- and I've tried unplugging some of the wires and replugging them. I don't even know what that;s suposed to do or which wire is which. If anyone can help I would be soooooo grateful. my dad'll blame this on me if it doesnt get fixed asap. I have windows xp. and when I type in D:/ into run, I get the message:
D:/ refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it stil cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.
I've got a IBM ThinkCenter that just won't boot. It powers on just fine, and I even tried installing a brand new power supply, so power isn't the problem. When I turn it on, I almost immediately get the IBM and Intel logos on screen but that's all. The machine does not seem to try to read from the hard drive, CD ROM or A drive. It never allows me to enter the BIOS or try to start Windows. I'm not even sure if the keyboard and mouse are being recognized. Is this a hardware problem? if so what? or can I still get this thing to boot somehow?
i bought my daughter a toshiba t e 2000 laptop and when she hooks her printer up to it says printer not recognized i was told the usb drives not loading up [i need usb drivers] and i can find any drivers for it i have tried everything i called toshiba tech support and by my warranty ran out last month they couldn't help.
My computer is being slow at whatever I do. Sometimes it works just fine but about 50% of the time it is slow in everything. even the mouse gets slow. opening folders, deleting, copying, everything. its also starting to affect my games and making them glitch its so slow. any ideas. I have a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+. I also have the latest drivers for my Nvidia 8600 GT video card and directx 9.0c. Can anyone help me. I have thought of everything that I know of. Which in this catagory isn't much.
I'm posting this for a friend so please bear with me.My friend was online last night with no problems. Then when trying to go to a game room he was told to update his Java VM. When he clicked ok, he received a message "error has occured, click ignore to continue or close".He closed and everything turned off.Since then, he gets a blue screen each time he starts the computer up, or he gets as far as the Desktop and gets the error as soon as he clicks on his AOL icon.
My computer freezes up. No keyboard, mouse, ect. The mouse arrow disappears. I have to "power off" the computer to get things working. Now here is the strange thing, if i move the mouse around "quickly" the computer will work OK. This is on a new install of Windows XP + sp1. If I am moving the mouse slowing as in solitare the system will lock up in about 10 mn
My USB External Hard Drive suddenly decided to stop working monday before last, it is weird, like it will turn on and all, but it doesnt get recognized and while its on none of my programs will load like Ventrilo and games(ventrillo will half load but not all the way) and the computer wont shutdown while its on. but the moment i turn it off they all start running smoothly agian and the computer will shutdown immediatly (if i am at the shutdown screen). Any idea why/how this happened and how to fix it?
I set mouse pointer speed (speed cursor moves over the screen) set to max (in control panel)This was fine until I upgraded from a 19" screen to a DELL 2405, this being a 24" widescreen. Now the screen is massive (I run at 1920 res) and the mouse is just too slow when in XP. Is there any way I can tweak XP to speed my mouse pointer up even more.
I have a HP ze5568cl laptop (Windows XP SP2). For a few years we've had trouble with the power connector. We've just wiggled the power cable to keep it connected and lived with the problem. It also gets very hot and the fan runs constantly. Yesterday when I powered it on there was no power, absolutely nothing. My husband has some electronic knowledge so we took the laptop apart and he soldered the loose part of the power connector. While he was doing that I cleaned the fan (couldn't believe how much dust was in there. When we plugged in the power cable the orange light came on so we were excited. When we powered it on all the keyboard lights lit up so we thought we had fixed the problem but.that's all it did. It went no further except that the fan kicked on.There is a clicking noise coming from the cd drive about every second with the green light flashing. I suppose it is checking to see if there is a bootable cd in the cd drive. I have attempted to change the boot order by holding F1, then F2 but it still continues to try to read the cd drive. I can't get to the screen that will allow me to change the boot order.
I also put the OS disk in the cd drive, hoping that it would start with the disk but it just clicks. Hubby removed the cover of the cd drive and I could see that the cd is spinning. There were no problems with this laptop prior to the power problem. It was really working very well especially considering the age of it. The information in my sig is not for the computer with the problem. It's actually for an old computer which my son now has at college.
Every mouse Ive tried to get working on a system that I just installed XP on will not work. Note these mice are ps/2 but it isn't the port because I used a Ps/2 to USB converter and that didn't work either? Note Ive rebooted the system every time I tried a new mouse so it isn't the restart needed.
I got a new computer and I have been having problems with my mouse. I have a simple optical wired mouse. During random times, my mouse click freezes, although my mouse can move and I can use the key board at this time, I cannot click or focus anything. To fix the problem I can control alt delete and exit the Task Manager, this fixes the problem.
I have a Sabrent SBT-EKU25 external enclosure with a 2.5 inch hard disk in it. This is a USB 2.0 drive and whenever I connect it to USB 2.0 port, it is not recognized (or "recognized" as an unknown device" ) on all my machines. It however is recognized as a drive and works fine on one laptop which has only USB 1.1 ports.I have tried separately powered USB hubs as well without success. So I don't think it's a power issue.I have even tried deleting all USB devices in Device Manager and let the machine rediscover them.
I started loading my games onto it. Insert the CD, and Winamp would hiccup. Then, when it actually starts installing whatever game I try, Winamp plays at half speed, pops and hiccups, and becomes unlistenable. Firefox takes between 10 and 30 seconds to load an instance, and typing is slow, and shows up on screen in bursts. Furthermore, even my System sounds (right clicking, for example) become slow and broken.
when i first start up my PC it seams slow. like when i try to use a program. its slow to starting up. but after a while things seams to speed up to normal
Following removal of a few trojans worm and a viruses. My system is now clean and I have MS anti spy, spyware blast spybot and Norton Anti Virus. This lady has learned the lesson. However all is not well with my dell laptop. I connect to the internet but when online the following happens: System hangs can't get the mouse to close a window, save as in a document or change a web page. In fact the cursor is stuck on the hour glass. The only way out is to turn off the power and restart. Dont seem to have any problems off line.
I used System Restore to restore my pc to a previous date. It restarted and updated, then when I turned on my pc it started up normally and went to the log-in screen. Except both the keyboard and mouse weren't functioning. I read some other forums and posts about this, but it seemed other people who had this problem were able to use the kb/mouse during safe mode. I can't use them in either normal nor safe mode, so I can't even log-in. I have a Dell desktop pc, any ideas on how to fix this?
