i bought my daughter a toshiba t e 2000 laptop and when she hooks her printer up to it says printer not recognized i was told the usb drives not loading up [i need usb drivers] and i can find any drivers for it i have tried everything i called toshiba tech support and by my warranty ran out last month they couldn't help.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm now praying that this will get fixed--my computer isn't recognizing any cd's I put in my d drive. It won't show up anywhere and when I go to my device manager there's a red x on top of the cd icon. I don't have any viruses or anything-I've run everything- and I've tried unplugging some of the wires and replugging them. I don't even know what that;s suposed to do or which wire is which. If anyone can help I would be soooooo grateful. my dad'll blame this on me if it doesnt get fixed asap. I have windows xp. and when I type in D:/ into run, I get the message:

I've got a IBM ThinkCenter that just won't boot. It powers on just fine, and I even tried installing a brand new power supply, so power isn't the problem. When I turn it on, I almost immediately get the IBM and Intel logos on screen but that's all. The machine does not seem to try to read from the hard drive, CD ROM or A drive. It never allows me to enter the BIOS or try to start Windows. I'm not even sure if the keyboard and mouse are being recognized. Is this a hardware problem? if so what? or can I still get this thing to boot somehow?
View 11 Replies View RelatedMy USB External Hard Drive suddenly decided to stop working monday before last, it is weird, like it will turn on and all, but it doesnt get recognized and while its on none of my programs will load like Ventrilo and games(ventrillo will half load but not all the way) and the computer wont shutdown while its on. but the moment i turn it off they all start running smoothly agian and the computer will shutdown immediatly (if i am at the shutdown screen). Any idea why/how this happened and how to fix it?

I plug in my USB Epson 915 printer into my computer it pops up saying generic USB device found and then reboots the computer it even does this when you have the USB device plug in from the start. All other USB devices run fine!

View 2 Replies View RelatedTwo custom PCs with XP Pro at same SP level. PC1 sees printer through switch. PC2 can not see printer. PC2 connects and sees printer when I cable the USB DIRECTLY to the printer instead of going thru a switch. Therefore, I know PC2 can print. Have tried 2 different switches. An A/B data switch and Belkin's 4x1 USB Peripheral Switch F1U401. PC1 works with both switches but PC2 does not.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe've had to change our address space and therefore the printer address has changed. I've changed the address on all but one computer. On this particular computer when I try to edit the TCP/IP port I get the message:
"An error occurred during port configuration. Access is denied."
If I try to create a new port I can select that I want it to be a Standard TCP/IP Port and then it tells me:
"Specified port cannot be added. Access is denied."
I have connected 3 new PC's on a P2P network, and connected a HP 4610 Color Laser Printer via a JetDirect 175 print server. On one PC, I can only print from the Administrator account. The other 2 computers work fine. On the one that is having issues, when printing a test page I receive a "Failed to Print" error mesage, and looking in the printer jobs menu, it shows that there was an error printing. The
Administrator account can print fine from this machine.
The user accounts are "restricted user" accounts on all 3 computers.
All 3 computers are exactly the same type, and all have the latest
updates.
After a system crash all printers are gone and when trying to add a printer I get the message:
"Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running" After starting the service manually and trying to add a printer I get the message:"Operation could not be completed" and the service is stopped again.I looked at some of the previous answers and related topics (like article nine, and Q324757
I have a Sabrent SBT-EKU25 external enclosure with a 2.5 inch hard disk in it. This is a USB 2.0 drive and whenever I connect it to USB 2.0 port, it is not recognized (or "recognized" as an unknown device" ) on all my machines. It however is recognized as a drive and works fine on one laptop which has only USB 1.1 ports.I have tried separately powered USB hubs as well without success. So I don't think it's a power issue.I have even tried deleting all USB devices in Device Manager and let the machine rediscover them.

I'm a tech at a college and am working on this computer that the printer spooler service won't stay started.You start up the machine and go to printers and faxes. There are none listed (of course cause the spooler isn't running) You click on add printer and it tells you that the service isn't running. So you go to run services.msc, printer spooler says it's stopped so you start it. It will then run until you try to print something or go to printers and faxes in the control panel. Basically as soon as you open the window the printer spooler service stops.Does anyone know a fix for this. Last time it happened one of my co-workers found a tool to fix it but we haven't been able to find it since and all the researching I have done leads me nowhere
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP Home installed and my dvd/cd burner is a Device Description SONY DVD RW DRU-530A. I have burned many files,photos,and music on this unit using cd-r discs. I am now using DVD-r discs and the burner will not recognize the disc. I tried DVD+r discs and have the same problem. Attached is the statement I get when I try to burn a disc. Should I go back to a CD-R disc or what could the problem be? I have tried to burn using Windows and using Nero with the same result.

I have left it to load for a few minutes but still nothing happens.After searching, I have found 2 possible solutions:The first was to uninstall the driver and restart. Upon restart windows will reinstall the device.I tried that twice, still experiencing the same problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got the computer, when I plugged in a digital camera, I got a "found new hardware" pop-up, thereafter when plugging in the USB cable, the XP camera wizard popped up and the pictures were downloaded without a fuss. At some point it stopped working, and I've ended up using Picassa to get the images d'ld, but it won't let me add photos to an existing folder. I want the Windows wizard to work again, that was better.My new camera is not recognized at all, and if anything pops up, it's Explorer. I tried to install drivers from the disc that came with the camera, but keep getting a message that says I don't need to. View 6 Replies View RelatedWhat would cause a relatively new HP Media Center computer to recognize other things inserted into any of the USB ports in the front (for example, a jump drive), but NOT recognize one device (a Lowrance iWAY 500c GPS car navigation device) that is readily recognized when it's plugged into a different computer?The HP computer is a friend's. The "different computer" is mine, a custom machine from Puget Systems with a P4 on an Asus MoBo. On the friend's computer, we get a "bubble" message from the taskbar to the effect that the device is not recognized -- so it knows something is plugged in, but apparently doesn't have the driver for it.
Her system is running Win XP and I assume (but don't know for sure) that she's kept up with Windows updates.
When I check MyComputer, the Lowrance isn't on the list. In Device Manager, it's listed as "Unknown device".I'm wondering about things like the HP lists a pot full of drives because it has all the camera card slots, etc. in the front panel (I think the drives go all the way up to J:, almost all of which are "removable drives".
I recently changed processors - nothing too technical -except now 5 times out of 6 , my PC will not recognize my DVD drive.There was no problem before.

Recently i have been getting Device is not recognized ive read through many forums on the "Fix" i unplugged my computer i un-installed my drives and the problem still continues only if i have the original belking stand. when i remove the stand and connect the adapter straight to my computer everything is fine. I did some tests with other usb extension cables i get the same problem but after removing and plugin in the cable a few times it works. Ive had moments when i have the belking stand connected i will get a connection signal but a few seconds later it will send a message USB device not recognized.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently re-installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro because of a patched user32 virus that caused me problems it seems to be gone now since the re-install. But now since I re-installed Windows XP, my dvd and cd drives don't show up in Windows. In BIOS they are recognized as ch.0 master and ch.0 slave drives. But in Windows they're not there in My Computer or Device Manager. I pop in a disc and it spins around but nothing happens.

I reformatted and put 98 back on and they are there and work fine. How do I get xp ro recognize my drives. I have a Dell Dimension XPS T800r with an NEC DV-5700A dvd and a SONY CD-RW CRS140E. I get a message when I log on to windows that windows could not load the installer for diskdrive and to contact my hardware manufacrer. Dell of course doesn't seem to have a clue about what is happening so any suggestions on how to get the drives back
