View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer is very slow.. When changing pages it takes for ever to load a page and some times it says it is done but nothing is in the screen and I have to reload it. I have to load small instructional video clips and it will run for a second or two and says buffering.I am not sure what it is I tried to look at my Vertiual memory but I do not understand what it should be set for.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a windows xps 200 desktop that was purchased in 2005. it had not been connected to the internet for a little over a year and, recently, when i got an internet connection i discovered that i could not get any sound streaming videos using hulu.com, Internet.com, or any other video site.i can still get sound using itunes and even in games that use the internet to connect with other players.i have checked my drivers and all of them are functioning properly, have uninstalled my sigmatel audio codec driver and reinstalled it, and have installed all the updates my computer requested in addition to driver updates the windows site recommended for my system. in short, i have done everything i can think of and have spent hours troubles hooting and looking for answers.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOk. So I am streaming video and just doing my usual when suddenly my screen does a quick flicker and the video stops running,I try reloading the page and then I get a BSOD. I was guessing it was a video card issue but everything else runs just fine,my drivers are updated to the newest version all I can do is scratch my head and ponder. Like I said this only happens when I am streaming video. Never had this problem before. Had this box for over a year and this is the first issue I had with it. an older computer with an older processor, and if anything, it's probably the cpu that is preventing me from having normal playback with streaming content. i had a laptop with a core duo processor that worked fine with this type of video, but i fried it so i am stuck with this for now. haven't used this pc in a few years so now i am noticing it's limitations as far as this stuff goes. if anyone has had any luck with an older machine getting relatively normal playback with these streams. i have tried reducing hardware acceleration, drivers are fully updated for graphics card, hard drive is formatted so no viri are causing this, reinstalling flash, changing settings on monitor, and playback is the same.
having a problem with my computer. when i visit Internet.com to watch videos, sometimes i get a message that says this: "hello, you either have javascript turned off or an old version of adobe's flash player. get the latest flash player." the video does not play. however, other videos load up just fine. the same thing happens on myspace videos. also, if i go to websites that have flash based games, they work just fine. what could be going on here? i am running windows xp.
View 13 Replies View Relatedit seems that you are my last hope. it is really crazy and i am almost thinking about just throwing this whole pc out and maybe buying a macbook instead as soon as i got money .i need my laptop (acer travelmate 292, 1.5ghz, 512 MB, insyde software csu bios ver 1.30) for producing music.i do have an external usb soundcard (edirol ua-25) but windows is just driving me nuts.even by only playing one simple MP3 file in winamp (or just having the windows-starting sound during the boot process) and without running any other software, the sound cracks, skips and jerks around. and that with already assigning the buffer size to "very large". if i chose "very small or medium" it would take me probably 10 seconds to play a 3 second mp3 file.i don't think, it is the sound card mainly, since i tried the onboard realtek soundcard stand alone as well and it is almost as bad. it must be something with windows. i already tried de-installing everything else on the computer, running registry cleaners and virus scanners, etc. - and there was one more tip, saying to "give priority to background processes" or something, but it still doesn't work.

View 17 Replies View RelatedAs per advice received here, I would like to create a Recovery CD including SP2 and all more recent updates received from Microsoft. However, it appears that you may not be able to do so unless you have an XP Operating System CD. Most computers come without such a creature unfortunately and neither of my systems have them.
Is it possible to create such a Recovery disk using the OS Recovery CD which came with my Compaq/HP laptop?Or else, is it possible to copy just the SP2 plus all other Microsoft downloads without having to manually execute each and every file?
how do i do it without upgrading my broadband subscription bandwidth/speed currently at 256k download? i watch streaming movies from netflix which currently re-buffers about every 15 minutes and takes about 8 minutes to buffer the next segment before resuming movie play.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows XP Home Edition every time i start the pc it says: Error loading :WindowsSystem32cafcleac.dll which I promptly just ignore. My hard drive is only 5 gigabytes big so it gets full quite fast. I used to be okay with it but now I can't watch any streaming stuff without a low memory bubble message and it stopping all streaming stuff. I fluctuate between 170 to 0 mb of memory space. I tried to run the thing to clean up more space but it just stays stuck on two green bars indefinitely and errors out. I tried to uninstall some software on add/remove programs but there are no "uninstall" buttons on most of my stuff. The best I can do is erase cookies which is annoying at best since it only opens up about 5 mb.
View 14 Replies View RelatedRecently I was playing a game, when my screen froze. I then shut my computer down to restart it, used it a few times (in 4-bit safe mode), then after I shutdown again, I cant log back in... it just freezes and the screen flashes, I cannot boot into my computer setup (default f2) or into safe mode (default f8), however I can run the XP cd and get into the recovery console, is there any way that I can change the boot sequence from the recovery console? The screen is dotted with a bunch of dots up and down the screen in columns, and is in 4-bit video mode.
I have a Dell xps gen 5 with xp home.
the error I get is:
"Error: Cant enter setup. Video Mode 103 not supported by this video card."
I have managed to put video footage onto my PC from a video cassette (by plugging my VCR into the TV aerial socket). The video footage is saved on my PC as .mpg files & when I open them, they play fine on Windows Media Player. When I import them on to Windows Movie Maker, they are recognised as video footage and I am able to put them into the collections as video. However, for some reason, when I drag them onto the timeline, they go onto the audio line & I can't get them to go on the video line, so when I play it, the sound plays but there is no picture. I have tried saving them as .AVI files but that makes no difference
I have window XP SP2 installed on my laptop. I also use InterVideo WinDVD Creator for video editing. Recently when I try to import video file into my application, my laptop, processing percentage goes up to 98%, and the application just freezes up. I also tried the Microsoft movie maker software and I get the same result. I was wondering if I need to reinstall the application or there is something that my laptop is missing. The application was functioning fine until 2 days ago, and since then I haven't installed any other application.

Some of my video files are not working for want of Indeo Video Codec. I have been working on a video convert tool as my last application. I do not know what happened and this got corrupted. It gives pop up message for MS Encarta Video files saying "The program you are trying to run requires a current Indeo codec To obtain a current driver that is compatible with this version of Windows, please contact the manufacturer at http://indeo.ligos.com.". When I check with them, they ask me to contact OS supplier
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe problem is the computer keeps losing its video display. Just went black. I reinstall the drivers and restart and the computer runs fine. Use fine, then after its been on for awhile it goes black again. Weird. I have the newest drivers and all the windows updates loaded. It just keeps going out. I have tried several screens as well to rule out the monitor freaking out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy kid just disabled the video adapter on his XP Pro machine (Compaq, PII, on-board video) and now the initial Win XP screen comes up then goes dark once it gets mostly through the boot-up. It won't do any different in safe mode and even installing an AGP video card didn't get me around this. Short of reloading XP, is there a fix for this? Also tried reloading default BIOS settings just in case, no change.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAn interesting problem. I have a box here that constantly reboots itself. Firstly I thought it may be a cmos problem, so I drained the cmos by removing the battery. Nope. Then I forced the bios to find hardware (I think it's eecd?). No problem finding hardware, but constant reboot. I thought it may be a hard drive problem so I changed the h/d. Nope, still constantly reboots. I took out the cdrom. Nope. I then low level formatted the h/d (the box worked just fine for this, using a cd with the format program, booting from the cd) tried to install a new o/s rebooting again during the install, after several tries got the o/s in the puter boots to the point of xp starting, then reboot or teases the heck out of me by actually opening xp to the welcome screen - then reboot. The box uses XP, the pwr supply is good and I am at a loss.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was working away on my desktop tonight, and suddenly the monitor started freaking out. Here is a video to show you what's going on at startup, When it happened I was working in Cubase. I'd just reset the audio driver, and it started doing like in the video. After a little bit, the signal cuts out completely. It's not the monitor, I've checked with a spare and it's the same. I don't have another video card around at the moment, but I'm wondering if it's likely to be an issue with the hardware, or software/virus type stuff. The computer is XP, 2gb ram, nVidia Geforce card (sorry, can't recall which one) etc. Incidentally the card itself looks fine, ie it doesn't look like it's shorted or anything.
