i am using WXP SP2 and i activated its Fax application. Can someone tell me why when i open it, Norton Antivirus is keeping to say that it blocked Netspy Trojan Horse from C:Windowssystem32fxsclnt.exe ? When i configured my Fax application i wrote ' Fax ' for IDST and ' Fax ' for IDSR. Was i right or wrong?
View 9 RepliesI have windows xp, i have avg antivirus and have run the tests in pc pitstop and done a regular search thru windows for the Trojan-Dropper.VBS.Inor.cz but can't locate it on my pc. My IE browser freezes everytime i go to a particular site and yet when i ask if anyone else has trouble with that site only a very few people say yes. The solution they give me is to download Mozilla and use it for that site. That doesn't protect me from the trojan completely infecting me does it? Can anyone tell me how to delete this trojan?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI ran a program called "The Cleaner" which is a trojan hunter program.It found only 3 traces of "mywebsearch" that I removed. After reboot I can successfully log into any of the user accounts, but it's like the shell is not fully functioning. All I have is my wallpaper. Nothing else. No icons, no task bar. Right clicking does not work. I can however Ctrl-Alt-Del and bring up Task Manager. I noticed that explorer is not running. I can go to "New Task" and type in explorer and it opens up a folder in explorer view. I can navigate through all my files and run any and all applications. I can connect to the internet and use my browsers just fine. I thought, "well, I'll boot into safe mode and see what's going on." When I try to boot into safe mode, I get an error message.

So I quarantined it and though I was safe. When I restarted my computer I keep getting AVG poping up telling me the same viurus has been detected and then a website tries to automatically open in IE.

I tried to delete the software from control panel-remove software it doesn't work, then I do regedit and delete the entry in the uninstall area, however the control panel area still shows this software but it does not give remove button there anymore. However the problem still exists and hangs my movie maker! And I have no where to delete anything anymore, why this stupid software never goes away!
i was looking for an alternative to the google desktop's sidebar when i came across this "ricks sidebar" from this rickentendo dude on wincert.com.I downloaded it and it worked fine untill i tried setting up the weather gadget then i got a popup from threatfire telling me it just quarantined the sidebar.exe which supposedly was infected with a "trojan.win32.packed",so i checked out the details and it showed "registry value delete disallowed" under the quarantined win32 trojan.

It is stored in an out of the way directory (not system directory of any sort) and I found it when I was doing some housekeeping. The name of the file is PKUNZIP.EXE and it would have been copied onto this computer a couple years ago with some other files. Now I know what pkunzip is, but xp pro this file certainly is not required. Alas when I try to delete it I get this: Error Deleting File or Folder Cannot delete PKUNZIP: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again. So I'm pretty determined to get rid of this guy, not because it's a problem, but because it's made me mad hehe. So I tried to boot up with a 98 boot disk and delete from DOS. No go, 98 boot wont recognize NTFS.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI ran Secunia's scan and it found I needed to update Java. Apparently Java installs a new version and the old version remains. I used Revo Uninstaller to remove Java. However, in the last stage where a few more files were being removed, Revo crashed. Now when I look in Windows Add/Remove Programs or Revo - Java is not seen. When I run Secunia - it still says Java's outdated version is on the computer and shows it in the program files. I tried to delete the entire Java folder from the program files, but Windows tells me I cannot delete a .dll file. How do I get the Java completely off this PC so I can update to the "safe version? Oh... I tried System Restore, which never works (even after going thru all the steps to make system restore start working), and, of course, this time it did not work either. I have three computers and System Restore never works on any of them. But that's another rant!
