After I got the trojan.tooso.f virus I lost system restore in my computer. It is completely gone. I have searched for it and it doesn't show up at all. Is there a way to re-install it with out re-installing windows XP?

I am running windows XP and counterspy has picked up a FTP Attack Trojan. I quarantined then deleted it but it keeps coming back. I also tried a porgram called Swatit but that did not find anything wrong. My computer has started acting improperly.rejecting games etc.

My virus programs took care of the viruses but also deleted some of the start up software that is used to boot up my computer correctly. as a last ditch effort I used the system restore function on my computer to reboot it back to a previous configeration. The computer booted back to its original out of the box configuration and I lost all my computer files (but on the flip side my computer was working perfectly now that this was done)
I take the computer to the repair shop so that they can do a deep memory scan to recover my files. They find some of the files and put them in a file folder located on my desktop. i am told by the techie working on my computer that there is a series of .dll errors at the start of windows and that they are the result of a viral infection (Obviously the system restore i did did not do its job of ridding me of the viruses. I did not notice the .dll errors when i initially did the system restore, but that doesn't mean that they weren't there)
I have windows xp, i have avg antivirus and have run the tests in pc pitstop and done a regular search thru windows for the Trojan-Dropper.VBS.Inor.cz but can't locate it on my pc. My IE browser freezes everytime i go to a particular site and yet when i ask if anyone else has trouble with that site only a very few people say yes. The solution they give me is to download Mozilla and use it for that site. That doesn't protect me from the trojan completely infecting me does it? Can anyone tell me how to delete this trojan?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to cleanup a machine running Windows 2000 (not sure what release).I've run AntiVir, Spybot, Adaware, and CWShredder, but am still experiencig problems. For example, I can't change the default home URL from 'about:blank'. AntiVir found many archieves (probably more than 30) with 'infected file' that couldn't be deleted. Most of them appeared to be .dat files, but one was a .cab file (polmx2), which I suspect is part of the problem. I'm also guessing there may be hidden files becuase I couldn't 'find' them in Windows.

This trojan virus slipped pass McAfee antivirus which still doesn't detect it. Also, each time I start my computer, Windows Defender (which is also installed) detects it, and even thogh I click on "Remove All", it still keeps popping up and is not removed. How do I get rid of this beast?

So I quarantined it and though I was safe. When I restarted my computer I keep getting AVG poping up telling me the same viurus has been detected and then a website tries to automatically open in IE.

I decided to get a printer that I had had before, Brother DCP-110C as I knew this had worked well. I tried to install yesterday (28th July) but could'nt and my PC keeps switching itself off near the end of the installation. However, when I got to my profile a message window came up that said unable to restore to (chosen date/time) etc. I chose 3 other restore points over the last month, thinking it might be some recent problem, still a no go. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have this software called SWF Sound Automation Tool, whenever I uses windows movie maker when I click on audio file, something pops up saying windows want to configure swf sound automation tool, and then it pops up some kind of error saying cannot write value to key etc, and I need to do cancel on the pop up and sometimes it hangs. Then my norton protection will pop up saying it blocks a trojan horse.
I tried to delete the software from control panel-remove software it doesn't work, then I do regedit and delete the entry in the uninstall area, however the control panel area still shows this software but it does not give remove button there anymore. i was looking for an alternative to the google desktop's sidebar when i came across this "ricks sidebar" from this rickentendo dude on wincert.com.I downloaded it and it worked fine untill i tried setting up the weather gadget then i got a popup from threatfire telling me it just quarantined the sidebar.exe which supposedly was infected with a "trojan.win32.packed",so i checked out the details and it showed "registry value delete disallowed" under the quarantined win32 trojan.

Here is my situation. I have an infected computer. I have only 1 partition on my computer and that is the C: Before my computer was infected I copied the contents of that drive to an external HD and then unplugged it. This was done before my PC was infected.
Now what I need to do is copy the contents from my external drive and make them my new primary C: so my computer will no longer be infected. I need some software that will boot without my infected OS and allow me to do this but am not sure what to use.
on recent boot up i was surprised to see a different but familiar desktop =. one that i used before. also the system was acting strangely and very sluggish. i suspected a problem with recent downloads and tried the system restore. there was only one available restore date even though the OS has been running for six months.
i tried this restore point but got message "unable to restore to this date- no changes have been made " i can not find a way to increase the number of automatic restore points.. i then did an error check and defrag and system seems to be OK now but am puzzled with system restore function..
