I inadvertently downloaded spyware about a month ago and since then my computer's system has been slowly deteriorating. I downloaded lavasoft and adaware but they did absolutely nothing to remove problems.Recently my entire computer's screen is blue and says "A fatal error has occurred...error caused by Trojan-Spy.html.smitfraud.c" I'm afraid to use the internet on that computer.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a packard bell laptop which is about 2.5 years old and has windows XP home pre loaded i have got infected by 3 worm viruses w32 spybot worm ,w32spybot worm KHC and trojan dropper. in an attempt to remove i decided to use the pc restore disk to restore all setting to factory settings however i have now done this twice and still appear to have the viruses is this normal or am i doing something wrong.

Two months ago for some reason I could no longer change my desktop background and when i tried to restore the computer to a previous time before we had the problem it would not work-none of the days I tried to restore (I tried multiple days). I think that I got rid of it, but I am not sure could anyone that can read a log please tell me if there is anything else left in the computer. The computer now doesn't stay on-line it disconnects itself. I called the company that provides me with my internet service, and they said that I need a filter for the phone line. The person told me that, that will take care of the problem of the internet disconnecting. I think that it could be the virus I had in the computer. I wasn't able to get on-line for at least a week, I had gone and checked the disk for errors and finally the anti-virus program was able to find the virus's.

Able to play game maps which he has had downloaded on the computer previously. I can play or install games which I downloaded previously. However, all new downloads/maps seem to be corrupted either in download or install. I have tried multiple sites (for game trials) though I have a subscription to one of the big sites. The files are consistently corrupt. AVG has not picked up any virii at this point.
If my computer is infected with a virus/worm and I system restore it to an infectionless date previous to catching the infection, can I safely say I no longer have an infected computer. In other words can I use my system restore feature to clean out a virus.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI have tried to restore my system to the first date available. xp always fails to load and I have to go back to "start windows from the last good configuration" – I started in safe mode, disconnected from the internet- scanned with NAV cleaned a bunch of junk off, scanned with Spybot S&D – cleaned some more junk off tried to restore to day one – same problem - go back to "start windows from the last good configuration"- several hours wasted and I am going crazy. My virus programs took care of the viruses but also deleted some of the start up software that is used to boot up my computer correctly. as a last ditch effort I used the system restore function on my computer to reboot it back to a previous configeration. The computer booted back to its original out of the box configuration and I lost all my computer files (but on the flip side my computer was working perfectly now that this was done)
I take the computer to the repair shop so that they can do a deep memory scan to recover my files. They find some of the files and put them in a file folder located on my desktop. i am told by the techie working on my computer that there is a series of .dll errors at the start of windows and that they are the result of a viral infection (Obviously the system restore i did did not do its job of ridding me of the viruses. I did not notice the .dll errors when i initially did the system restore, but that doesn't mean that they weren't there)
it takes forever to do anything. It's like it can only do one thing at a time its so slow. When I turn it on and log into my profile, it takes about 5 mins for it to load the desktop and about another 5 mins to load the antivirus software (Norton Security Suite 2010). The same goes for everything I do on this computer, it takes a while for the internet browser (IE 8 and FireFox), opening any program on this computer takes a while to load up. I have run Norton and it doesn't come up with anything. I have done a system restore a couple of times but it doesn't seem to help any
View 14 Replies View RelatedI was helped by Flrman1 last weekend in getting rid of a trojan, and it worked great. Scans come up clean now. But since contracting it even up to today, my machine seems to be running sluggish. Even running a non-online game runs the CPU usage to 100%. Have I too many things running in the background, and how can I get rid of unnecessary stuff? I fear some things are running that I did not intentionally put on there.
