Error Message Comes Up During Taking Backup
Jul 19, 2010I'm looking to upgrade to service pack III,but before I do I want to back up my files, settings and email info. Tried backing up to an extra drive I have using Windows Back up utility. It starts backing up okay, then shuts down as an error message pops up saying there is a 4 Gb limit. Normally, I backed up to DVD's using MS One Step or whatever they called it. Unfortunately, I uninstalled this Utility and I am trying to back up using the systems Windows XP utility. For some reason, XP won't let me back up to DVD's.

It starts just fine but where I pick what OS I boot to it has BOTH Pro and Home versions to pick from as well as the recovery console. How do I get rid of the home version without doing a complete backup and reformat of the partition.

Nov 13, 2007i reinstalled my os wich is xp media centre edition, just becuse i wanted to clean up my hd sinse i have done this everything is fine and dandy except wen i boot up it takes like ages it never used to do this before, this is not a startup time problem it is a boot up time problem as in wen u boot up your computer and u have xp its a black screen with the white loading bars at the bottom this is when it takes its time, its wierd cuse wen i load up vista its fine, also i dont really have anything running at startup only explorer

Apr 27, 2005my computer has begun taking FOREVER when I shutdown/restart it. I shut it down about 30 minutes ago to open it up and clean the dust out and I timed it. It turned out to be about 3' minutes and 8" seconds (+/-).I do have several programs that are included in my startup (antivirus, firewall, spyware protector, form filler,it could be reduced if necessary, but I consider all of them pretty essential for my usage. I have a Pentium 4, 1.8 Ghz chip with 1 Gig of RAM.

I'm trying to help someone, and they have a folder with the files already available instead of a single backup.bkf file. He wants to restore everything to the original location before the computer restore. How can he do that with the folder he has instead of a backup.bkf file? The restore wizard is asking for a .bkf file to place everything in the original locations, and he doesn't have that.

Sep 5, 2006Im on a network with a domain controller using dhcp, my computer runs on windows xp. When I booting up and Im connected to the network with my lan connection it boots up in no time, but when Im not on the domain using the machine at home it takes about 5 min to boot up. Why would this be and can I do something to fix it? I should add that my laptop that I had before had the same software and settings but did not take 5 min to boot up when not on the network.

When Windows had problems in the past, I could simply press F10 on startup and there was a diagnostic section which allowed me to reformat in an either destructive or non-destructive way. What happens if my computer doesn't start up nowadays? As in, the Windows Loading logo screen appears and then the monitor goes black and stays black.. Is there any software or method to allow me to have some sort of management over this? Sorry if I have not been able to correctly ask my question.. Kinda hard.
