Spanish Language Added, But No Characters Available/ Special Keyboard Mappings?

I installed Spanish in a program, and it says I should be able to type CTRL+SHIFT+a to get the a with an accent, and various other shourtcuts. None of these work. In fact, the only way I can get a Spanish character to appear is by using the ascii codes (ALT+0241 for the Spanish ñ, etc) I can find some characters if I hit the ALT+SHIFT combo -- just not all the characters, and then I can't use certain keys (like the = sign becomes an upside-down question mark ¿ why the special keyboard mappings would not work?

I have a problem with accented characters. When I write myself, If I use Times New Roman all accented characters will be changed to some strange symbol. Even if I change the character with the dictionary program, it will automatically change back to the strange symbols. This problem I have overcome, by using ARIAL. The real problem is, that the e-mail I receive in aforeign language, it has the same strange characters. I have also installed on Oxford English-Spanish dictionary. Even the writing on this dictionary gets changed from the original characters. This is an example (Desesperaciçn) the o gets changed into a ç. Or an è gets also changed into ç. If I log into a non English WWW site, even on those pages it will change the accented characters to some strange simbols.

we need to change the OS language from Spanish to English I have already gone to Control Pannel and changed the regional settinbgs, I also went to language in internet options and inserted English nothing worked, also inserted the XP disk and got a message in spanish that I think was telling me to contact microsoft, there were no options like REPAIR or install

I'm trying to change the XP "Regional/Language" from English to Spanish. After rebooting, it stays as English. The default now say's Spanish. I've even installed the language pack for Spanish from CD.

I have a keyboard with some of those "Extra" buttons on top like those shortcuts "Mail,home, favorites, forward, rewind, play, pause...etc" well you'know the buttons that no one in the world ever uses, now I don't know what happened, but my keyboard got a short-circuit apparently (maybe someone spelled something on it or something) and what happened was, the Up arrow had got shorted with the "My Computer" button, and the left arrow with the "Calculator" shortcut, so each time I press up it opens the My Computer window, and each time I press left it opens Windows Calculator, now you can imagine how annoying that could be when playing games, you press one arrow and poof, you'll be Alt-ctrl-deleting for the next hour, so is there a way to disable those buttons? as in make windows ignore the command once it receives it?...........

All my folders in My Documents just display as a plain yellow folder (default folder), whereas the My Music, My Pictures folders had the personalised icons on them.

I was using my computer, and it froze completely. Only thing I could do is Alt + Tab, but it wouldnt bring up anything. So I restarted it, using the button on the computer itself. After that the "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." message came up. I have the options (Start in safe mode / Safe mode with networking / Safe mode with command prompt / Last known good configuration setting (most recent setting that worked) / Start Windows normally.) and everything, there is a countdown for starting windows normally, but for some reason my arrow keys dont work. I tried both num pads and the normal arrow keys and nothing works, including enter.

When I visit websites I found some characters are not shown correctly, especially at email username and password and answers at google Q&A.Some unknown ASCII characters appear.Everything else are ok.I think technical help forum should allow to post graphic, 'coz I tried to attach screenshot, but couldn't.

Sometimes, on one computer with XP Pro SP2, when characters on keyboard are input like the backslash, colon, brackets, etc, totally different characters are input.By restarting the computer, this issue is corrected, but it keeps happening every couple of days. This is a fresh install of XP and a new computer. The computer does not have any other language settings other than English Canada.Could it be something the user is inadvertently pressing or setting?

I open files to read them from the web--whether from MSN or from someone's website--they read fine except for the odd looking Japanese looking character.This mainly seems to happen on the letter "s" and usually at the end of words.At first I thought it was an error on the personal website I was looking at, but it was also in Yahoo and a Google page. It's very annoying.

I install windows xp, I was missing some drivers so i was able to get what i needed and my computer is running just fine but the wireless network connection is reading in Spanish. I've already gone to the regional settings and made sure it reads English, there is no other part of my computer that i have come across that reads in spanish except this section.

I have a valid installation of Windows XP Home in English with CD. I received "Uniblue Registry Booster 2010" in Spanish on a CD. if I install "Uniblue Registry Booster in Spanish on a Window XP platform that is in English, will the registry repair software be able to read the registry keys to repair/clean. Or must you have a Windows platform in Spanish for a registry repair/cleaner in Spanish.

I found that my XP (English version) is not able to put non-English characters in correct order, so that my Thai dictionary doesn't work properly.Here are some details.In Thai language, some vowels are on the left side of consonant, but when ordering those words with vowels on the left side, we don't consider the vowel is the first character, but XP does. I need to introduce 3 Thai characters in order to illustrate this problem more clearly.is the first consonant in Thai language, ข is the second, ไ is a vowel which is on the left side of consonant, such as ไก and ไข. Now we put these 2 consonants and 2 words in proper order,In the shop where I bought that dictionary, it works pretty well, but I didn't notice what system is was.

I have kind of an odd/tough question. I have a font with several characters that are encoded only in Unicode...I think. When I open up Character Map, I can see the characters there and it of course gives me the Unicode numbers for it. These characters have no corresponding keyboard key or Alt code. They appear to be solely Unicode. Normally, in such a case, in the Character Map I can hit Select and Copy and then paste the character in whatever text program I want. For some reason though, I can't with these characters. I don't know if the font is damaged or what.

Sorry if this is a repeat. My Toshiba Satellite M45 running Win XP Home, SP2 is caught in a boot-up loop. It shows the Toshiba splash screen, the "Windows is starting up" screen, then flashes a blue screen with white characters (too fast for me to make out any detail), then the "Windows didn't startup properly" (I forget the precise wording) screen, with the choices of Safe Mode, etc. I've tried every option on the list, but it still fails, returning to the Boot Options screen. Mea Culpa: I haven't done a backup in quite some time, so I'm anxious about the data on the hard drive.

I have a friends PC, a gateway P4 2.6, winxp home. The mouse and keyboard up and died. He had a kvm switch, the electronic kind when it stopped functioning. I have tried usb, ps2 everything. The keyboard works on bootup, so I can get into bios etc... but when it gets to the windows screen, nothing. No mouse or keyboard. Safe mode is the same thing. Dont want to format and reinstall windows. On that note, I did try a repair, when it asks for admin password it wont accept it. Says invalid admin password.. The password IS windows admin password though. With no mouse even in safemode, and windows not accepting my admin password during repair,

I just finished assembling my new build. It boots and I can get to the BIOS. I even have it booting from the DVD drive so I can load Win XP.However, when I get to the Windows Setup and it asks me if I want to setup windows(press enter), Repair(some other key), quit(F3) my keyboard won't work. I hit "Enter" because I want to install XP and nothing happens. It is not responding to my keyboard strokes.
This is strange because the keyboard works in the BIOS.
