There is no sound driver, what can I do to correct this If I'm on the internet and scrolling down either with roller or dragging it down, it doesn't go smoothly. I am coming from Ubuntu, a friend put xp on here. I would also like to know if dual-booting would be easy to do.
View 14 Repliesmy computer was given to me, the program windows nt was programmed and i had sound out of my speakers, when i installed windows xp the sound went away and when i tried to solve the problem it told me i did not have a sound card,but before i installed windows xp i was able to play cd's and music was coming out of my speakers.

Plus, the XP installation is not working right, it won't allow me to install new software, for one thing, so I just assume go back to using only my windows ME hard drive but I can't get rid of the message at boot up of which operating sytemI want to use,even when I took out the window XP hard drive and restored an older version of my windows ME registry on the other hard drive.

Techniquely I had no sound before I reinstalled and thats because I updated my bios and then .(I have a dell dimension 9100 and sound blaster audigy ZS sound card.) Which, obviously, forced my to reinstall. after the reinstall I rolled back my bios from D9100A03 to A01. At this point, My computer said I had no sound card so I update my drivers to the latest version. My computer now recognizes the sound card, but there is no sound. The only time I ever here sound is at start up with the windows welcome jingle. But it plays for like 2 seconds and then just completely turns off. Its almost as if my sound card gets over taken by something else.

It's running fine now, but everytime I install a new program, when I restart the machine, all the newly installed programs' folders pop up (e.g. showing the uninstall and help links in the program's particular folder; it usually happens with new software just the once) - and it's getting ridiculous. I have to close each folder one by one.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI get the message 'no sound device installed', when I try to play music. when I try to install the 'on board sound device', i get the message.' sound device installed and working properly, would like to uninstall it?(it does not show up in 'device manager'), so I click on yes to uninstall, and then reboot the computer, get the 'new device found' etc. and I install the drivers etc. then everything works. untill I turn off the computer and then there is no sound again. This happens every time I turn off the computer.

So i decided to use the built in dell software to wipe it clean and revert back to the factory/straight out the box settings. This all went well but now i have no sound what so-ever in windows. I would like to use my installed programs in the older windows which i can see in the programs folder. What do i need to do to get them working on the new folder without reinstalling them. View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm about ready to beat my head into a wall.I've got an onboard sound card that has not worked since I formatted my computer (Win XP Pro SP2). The device has the latest drivers from the manufacturer installed, it's enabled in Windows and the BIOS, the Audio Codecs are there, the Windows Sound service is running, thd driver reports no problems at all and yet, No Audio Devices are found when I go into Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control Panel. I've tried installing another sound card in there too, which installs fine, but still isn't selectable as an audio device. What the heck could I be missing here?

This is only to be used on HP Consumer PCs preinstalled with Windows XP. Your PC does not meet this requirement, so update is being aborted. but my PC was preinstalled with Windows i've just had to reinstall it again!

View 14 Replies View Relatedjust recently experienced a no audio problem on my computer. Originally had a c-media card installed with everything working ok , then suddenly no sounds at all. Removed card and installed spare Sound Blaster Audigy and downloaded latest drivers. Everything installed ok. No conflicts in Device Manager, proper card identified in control panel/sounds. Windows sound on reboot , but after reboot nothing again. After countless removal of sound card in Device Manager and re-installing drivers , no change. Removed card and re-verted back to on board audio. Realtek high definition audio with latest and original cd AC-97 drivers. Now no audio device available in Control panel/sounds. Within the Realtek HD Audio Control panel I can test speakers and hear sound ok.
