I had Windows XP reinstalled on my computer hard drive. When I got my computer back. The sound was not working. When I went to My Computer/ Hardware Devices, there were 3 yellow question marks on:SM Bus Controller..PCI Device Video Controller. Do I need to delete these and try to reload them. If so, is there a process or Disc i need to do this?
I have lost my sound. The sounds icon in control panel say " no audio devices" AND the sound tab shows all listed devices as working porperly. I have deleted an sound object that allows it in device manager and allowed XP to load wht it will. I still have no sound. I checked for sound services in services and they are started as well.If I load Knoppix and test, my sounds work so I am assumming it is not a hardware problem.
I have trouble with the sound after reformating the computer and installing a new O.S. but can find a solution similar to mine with XP x 64 bit So I'm in the same boat ,,, Reformate my computer Install Xp x64 and no sound .But I tried already downloading the sound driver for my Motherboard in ASUS run the exe. but no sound still , the Yellow question mark still in the Other Devices / Multimedia Audio Controller, Pls can someone point me in the right direction of what step I'm missing and in wich order of installing, with all this sound drivers options I don't know wich one I need first to install and wich one I dont really need, for sure my sound card , but the other 3 ?
I was using it and I found out that the microphone on it was taking over default,so like an idiot i went in to Device manager and disabled the web camera mic driver.Because of this my windows xp will give me the blue screen of death and reboot when ever i plug it in.Including even if I plug it in before windows starts. All i want to know is, is there a way to see devices installed on the computer while it is not plugged in to the usb port to uninstall the driver.
I have Windows XP Media Center installed on my computer. How do I shut off all the sound devices on my computer so that when I get an error screen or start up my computer or whatever, I don't get any sound at all?
I am running a WinXP SP2 machine, with a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS.One day, during a Windows session, my sound just stopped working. I tried to play a song in Winamp, and got the message: "Device not found. Please select another device in configuration. Error code: 88780078." The window title was "DirectSound output v2.2.12 error".Trying to play a song in Windows Media Player yielded a simlar result: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."
I received no sound from my computer. Have checked my speakers and they are working well. Howevert,I tend to receive this message:"There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices,go to Control panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware".
I had to reinstall windows XP because my OS would not load and I got all the drivers reinstalled, diagnostic ran smooth and everything came up working ok etc but my device manager won't recognize anything! The compy says my audio mixers are not there, my USB devices are not working, hardware wizard is not responding, microsoft updates are not working, Dell's driver downloads are calling out for something that isn't there and I really need this fixed ASAP so I can get to my external HD.
my computer was given to me, the program windows nt was programmed and i had sound out of my speakers, when i installed windows xp the sound went away and when i tried to solve the problem it told me i did not have a sound card, but before i installed windows xp i was able to play cd's and music was coming out of my speakers.
I have got a Dell dimension 3100C with win xp home.My problem is I don't have any sound.I had no sound so I installed sp3 and when it rebooted it said some thing to do with high definition audio codes so I try to install them and it says error 10 device cannot start
So I guess I should probably explain myself a little more throughly. Techniquely I had no sound before I reinstalled and thats because I updated my bios and then .(I have a dell dimension 9100 and sound blaster audigy ZS sound card.) Which, obviously, forced my to reinstall. after the reinstall I rolled back my bios from D9100A03 to A01. At this point, My computer said I had no sound card so I update my drivers to the latest version. My computer now recognizes the sound card, but there is no sound. The only time I ever here sound is at start up with the windows welcome jingle. But it plays for like 2 seconds and then just completely turns off. Its almost as if my sound card gets over taken by something else.
I get the message 'no sound device installed', when I try to play music. when I try to install the 'on board sound device', i get the message.' sound device installed and working properly, would like to uninstall it?(it does not show up in 'device manager'), so I click on yes to uninstall, and then reboot the computer, get the 'new device found' etc. and I install the drivers etc. then everything works. untill I turn off the computer and then there is no sound again. This happens every time I turn off the computer.
I just purchased a CD called I Love Math and there is an error code that says "The sound software is not installed properly or has been disabled. This title will now terminate, Continue/quit.I have tried to use the compatability options on my computer with no success. The website LearnatGlobal has no links to get help. I read about getting a 'patch' from the site but have no idea how to find that.
There is no sound driver, what can I do to correct this If I'm on the internet and scrolling down either with roller or dragging it down, it doesn't go smoothly. I am coming from Ubuntu, a friend put xp on here. I would also like to know if dual-booting would be easy to do.
I reformatted my pc with Windows XP Professional, slipstreamed with SP3. I've reinstalled all of my drivers (save for my webcam), and now I have no sound. It seems everything is in check, my drivers are working and all but nothing.
I dont know why, but lately i have had to reinstall my sound driver each time i restart my computer. After restarting my computer, and i go to "sounds" in control panel, it says "no audio device detected".
now i cant get any sound when i click on 'sounds and audio devices' in control panel no audio device is foundcmi audio config doesnt even open up when i click on volume control i get the following message:
'no active mixer devices available, to install mixer devices, go to control panel, click printers and other hardware and then click add hardware'
1) I would like to cancel the password request when windows XP starts up, how can I do that?2) when I switch on the PC, I am asked if I want to use windows XP or windows 2000 even though I don't have any partition on my HD with windows 2000, actually I have no partition at all) I have installed a new sound card, and even though everything works fine, on windows start up, I always get the window " new hardware found" " looking for the driver on the Cd " how can I get rid of that?
After a while my sound will cut out and when I try to play things in Winamp or anything it will stay stuck @ 0:00The sounds will sputter for a second and then freeze. Also when the sound dies, sometimes programs will start to freeze up to the point I can't even kill them in tskmgr. System sounds don't play either.I've tried updating to the latest drivers. I tried an older version of the drivers too.
I get a series of low pitch beeps about every hour for a second or two no matter what's running. It's not a system beep, much lower in freguency. Everything else is working fine, good audio for all playbacks.I don't have a system speaker attached to the motherboard. The sound comes thru my Sound Blaster powered speakers, even with the volume off.
Working on a Dell Latitude D530 with Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pak 3; Experienced Serious Error and system had to shutdown. On restart; No Bottable Devices, Strike F1. On restart; Laptop very noisey. Probably coming from hard drive.Don't use this computer that often but contains critical information.Has not been physically abused, dropped or liquid spilled on or in it.It just crashed.
My WMP (v11) has strated toc crash whenever I plug a memory stick or my MP3 player.I have loaded a Hotfix that's supposed to address this problem but it's still there.
In the past few weeks my firewire port at the front of my PC is not recognising devices; external drives & camcorder.I've an Audigy 2 ZS with firewire port also, and it's not recognising devices also. Although I've never tried the Audigy before. Is there a possibility it's a software issue? (since both firewire's are inoperative) My USB 2 slots are all working fine.I might buy a PCI firewire card tomorrow and try that, But I appreciate if anyone has any ideas...
All USB ports wont recognise any devices although tried my MP3 player and power is getting to it. Checked Bios everything that matters seems to be enbled. Did clean re-install from restore disk XP1, upgraded to XP SP2 still same problem. (This needed doing anyway and USB problem existed before re-install) Device manager showing no problems.
I recently upgraded my OS to WinXP Pro from WinME, and there is no sound. I right-click My computer, go to properties, hardware, device manager, then there are 2 yellow circles with exclamation points in them under Multimedia Audio Controller (Intel 82801AA ac'91 Audio Controller), and Unknown Device (Microsoft MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device). I tried to reinstall them, but it says There was a problem installing this hardware: Intel 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller. An error occured during the installation of the device. The data is invalid.
I recently purchased a refurbished computer from Fry's Electronics. It seemed like a very good deal, so I went ahead and took it along with others who were taking them.
I finally got my internet up and I began to play Counter-strike. The sound sometimes messes up. I can hear other peoples shots just fine, but when I shot, it is almost silent.
This started last night, the only thing that I did that was out of the ordinary was ran Avast's thourough scan fully, but even after that my sound worked, so it didnt delete the driver to my knowlege, but when I do a dxdiag and look at my audio, it doesn't exist, there is no sound card installed, and allI use is my DFI Lan Party UT RDX200 CF-DR mother boards on board sound. I tried installing the driver again fom DFI and to no success, now when I went to install the drive again, I got an error saying that this device isnt approved by Windows. Could windows be preventing my audio card from working?
