I dont know why, but lately i have had to reinstall my sound driver each time i restart my computer. After restarting my computer, and i go to "sounds" in control panel, it says "no audio device detected".
I get the message 'no sound device installed', when I try to play music. when I try to install the 'on board sound device', i get the message.' sound device installed and working properly, would like to uninstall it?(it does not show up in 'device manager'), so I click on yes to uninstall, and then reboot the computer, get the 'new device found' etc. and I install the drivers etc. then everything works. untill I turn off the computer and then there is no sound again. This happens every time I turn off the computer.
I recently upgraded my OS to WinXP Pro from WinME, and there is no sound. I right-click My computer, go to properties, hardware, device manager, then there are 2 yellow circles with exclamation points in them under Multimedia Audio Controller (Intel 82801AA ac'91 Audio Controller), and Unknown Device (Microsoft MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device). I tried to reinstall them, but it says There was a problem installing this hardware: Intel 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller. An error occured during the installation of the device. The data is invalid.
I succesfully update my BIOS "flash it" but lately , my sound its making some funny stuff ( like... poping sounds) and the "cliki sounds" of Windows when you open a folder, change page, etc. sometimes it sounds like a interference of a radio (bruugggtttt ) short my sound example ok , well , then it fix by itself , but then later comes again . my windows media player sounds ok, for now , havent notice slow in music yet , but musicmatch somtimes sounds funny , just the start opening music (intro) but songs OK.by the way I update my nero , so I uninstall and install the new version , I didn,t configure Nero to open wav files or sound files .should I need to update my sound driver for the chipset of SoundMax ?

When I was cleaning up my program list I accidentally removed my audio driver. I have been unable to find the same driver, or even a working one. HERE is my computer. I tried downloading the drivers from that site, and also from Intel.com ,but none of them have worked
I miss a step or screw up formatting just let me know. Earlier today I downloaded a sound driver for my card hoping to update it. It caused lots of problems. But first the normal details: Quote: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600) 2.65 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 FX. I have also tried removing the card, starting up the pc, rebooting, and then returning the card with no luck. I've tried uninstalling the drivers entirely but they always seem to reappear when I reboot
I had Windows 7 installed on my laptop Dell Vostro 860, 2GB RAM, that after 2 months crashed. It gave me a black screen with"bootmgr is compressed press ctrl+alt+del to restart" that could not be fixed fast because I had lent my Win7 to someone who is far from me at the moment.I had the brilliant ideea to install Windows XP (since I had the CD).Everything went well up until the point when, during the installation it told me that it couldn't copy a file from the CD and the option to skip or try again. I skipped it since "try again" didn't do anything. I thought it couldn't do much harm. I got to the blue screen with the green bullets, progress bar and 39 minutes left when I got this error that said that windows can't continue and restarts the comp.
I just got rid of Windows Vista and replaced it with Windows XP pro service pack 2. Everything works perfectly, except I don't have any of the drivers. I tried installing it, but it doesn't seem like it works. My built in wireless doesn't work, I don't have the quick launch buttons, and I don't have sound. I have a Compaq Presario C700, so can anyone tell me how to fix my wireless internet, sound, etc and tell me how to get the drivers. I tried the hp website, but for some reason when i install those drivers, they install and it says its running but my wireless internet still doesnt work. On my device manager, on network adapters, i only have Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.
I am having trouble setting up XP on my Windows 2000 SP4 Computer.I know I installed the components into the computer, but it does'nt show up.I have no experience In boot disks or anything else, so please speak slowly.
My laptop has an volume up and down buttons (Turns the volume up or down). Up until now, whenever I pressed one of these buttons, a sound bar appeared on the screen showing what is the volume status. Now it's not displayed anymore.

It says the drivers for audio are installed .. but when I go to properties for the sound system it says there is no audio device... and all the setting such as device settings and speaker settings are gray.
I have a 5 year old Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop equiped with XP Professional. Attached to it is a small Cambridge Soundworks speaker system that has worked perfectly until now... Suddenly no more audio from this system, except for the computer inside speakers that is working just fine. I have checked all the connections (speakers and woofer). I have been doing a lot of "cleaning" lately - due to the fact that my computer has been very slow... I used CCleaner, WinUtilities and Premium Booster. My anti virus is AVG.
I have Windows 2000 Professional on my a20p IBM thinkpad.Just tried installing a driver for the ethernet card in the laptop.Installed the driver, restarted the computer, and everything is hunky-dory until.I go to the device manager and it still says a Question Mark next to Ethernet Controller.
After reinstalling windows xp sp2. I have everything back except for my sound, after getting the drivers and utilites cd from dell, and getting the files for my sound card. I try to install it. halfway through it says. Installation failed, unkown error.

I had Vista, I hated it so I installed a copy of WIndows XP SP3 I had. I have had no audio and belarc wouldn't even recognise the existance of a sound card. After attempting the fixes suggested on other threads here and elsewhere I managed to get microsoft uaa function driver for high definition audio - Adi 1983 to show up in my device manager, but it has a yellow ! exclamation mark.still no sound.

Because I am poor, a friend of mine gave me a brand new machine with a blank HD. I have this morning installed a genuine fresh copy of XP Home which appears to have gone on OK (I have 20 years PC experience, but little of it messing around with new installs). I got my internet working, anti virus etc, but when I checked the device manager to see why I was not getting sound. I've done a screen cap of device manager (but I don't know how to place it on here) - If anyone wants it e mailing I can of course do that. By the look of it, the sound card is integral to the motherboard but the device manager is not identifying it by name. If I am identify / find drivers on the net,
how can i install sound driver for black xp my pc is dell and i tried the dell drivers and the operating system is not supported by the dell sound driver software
I recently had to reformat my PC and now I need to reinstall my video card and sound card drivers. The only problem is, I don't have the driver CD anymore. when I try to find out what my video/sound cards are I draw a blank because they don't seem to be displayed anywhere (display properties/settings/advanced/adapter). All adapter type and adapter information are all I know my video card is ATI but that's all I know and as for the sound card - I haven't a clue what make that is. I've been on the ATI website but there are so many drivers I don't know which one to download/install.
recently downgraded from vista to xp pro, now i have no sound. ive uninstalled and reinstalled read every forum i could find, downloaded driver scanners.
I've been having probems with my sound recently. I think that the problems are driver related, but Ive tried reinstalling them, and getting new ones (the new ones had major problems). Its SoundMAX digital audio
