Please advise on my notebook log, it is very slow onboot up as well as webbrowsing.
Booted to Safe Mode ran Ewido, scanner fixed 12 items. Booted to normal mode ran Ewido and it found no problems. Next day the problems are back. Booted to Safe Mode ran Ewido, scanner fixed 2 items. Ran HJT and saved a log. Booted to Nornal mode ran Ewido, scanner found no problems. Ran HJT and saved a log.
The computer has sluggish and aggravating moments. Frequently, Internet Explorer Windows get hung-up, and will not close or open. Tabs get stuck and won't change. Boot-up time seems slow. Connection tests indicate speed is optimal, but IE remains slow and clunky. A HJT scan has been performed. I may correct any issues. Also, if there is any fat to be trimmed, oo.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAnyhow, on my second laptop, my roommate borrowed it and of course has no idea what she could've possibly ever done. She's probably a lil' too dense to realize if she download or got some kind of virus using it. And, of course, she didn't bother telling me right away so when I went to start up the laptop one day, it was going extremely slow.It took about 10 minutes for the laptop to boot to the windows login screen. Any mouse movement whether on the mousepad or when I hook up my USB mouse takes about 1 minute to register any movement. I haven't even been able to get to the main desktop screen. (I'm trying as I type.. but, judging by the length of how long it took the other stuff, I could be in for a long wait.) Even when I typed in the password it took about 5 minutes for it to seemingly type out.. but the "dots" cut off so I have no idea if it actually will go through or not or if I will get the "incorrect password" error message.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt is very slow to boot, taking perhaps two minutes to the desktop. It also runs very slow and choppy, it is not unusual for it to take 15 seconds just to populate the Control Panel window. This slow behavior continues throughout all applications. There seems to be more HD activity than I would expect

ever since I downloaded an episode of a TV show I missed last week (yes, bad idea..) my laptop has been acting up. It takes forever to open web pages if it will do so at all, and programs will give error messages and close. The messenger program will pop up showing others I am online although I have chosen all the options not to do that. I am sure it is a virus or some malware/spyware, but I run Norton (up to date) and Spyware Doctor (also up to date) and they can't find anything except a few adware cookies to delete. How do I find out what's causing this and get rid of it? It must have come in with the peer to peer program I would think?

Problem: A few weeks ago, the laptop became noticably slower to boot. I get an hourglass that lasts for maybe a minute. I can't do anything until it goes away.
Possible cause: Spyware? Hijack This log at the bottom of this post. Spybot tells me I have two "confirmed as malware" BHO's
Not to sure if I poseted in the right place or not. I'm currently working on a friends laptop and was hoping I could get some help here. She has a Gateway laptop running Windows XP. It is running very slowly. If you restart of shutdown there are always certain files that always pop up as not responding. These are the same files that show up in Task manager as not responding. Her Microsoft Antispyware icon when double clicked never starts the application. Here is a list of the files that always show up as not responding.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just re-installed my OS on my laptop. Its a dell inspiron 9300. Its running windows xp, has 34 gig hard drive and half a gig of ram. Its almost 4 years old. Its really slow and sluggish even though I just re-installed. I have a backup hard drive too so I don't have to use all my space. Is it time for a new one? I don't want to put a lot of money into it if I should just upgrade to better machine. I use it as my main computer. I have a network in the house but that computer is VERY old and I just use it to connect the modem and router for our laptops. I have a second monitor attached to my laptop

I've got a nice laptop but was having major problems with it (running slow, etccc)........ so about two weeks ago I formated the machine.... it was working perfect only now the screen starts to freeze, the mouse freezes.
I sometimes have problems switching it on......... of course also the blue error screen appears now as well....... i just don't know what's happening...... when i enter secure website such as credit card merchants such as protyx the system freezes
I started getting ad popups and it started running very slowly. I didnt think anything of it at first but then it started freezing and having a hard time closing windows and it was BARLEY running. And the bar at the bottom would disappear. I had to restart the dern thing 5 times just bc even ctrl/alt/del didnt even work closing these windows. Then it happened. One day when I was trying to restart it, It was in the middle of booting, and when the 'Windows is starting' screen comes up, the blue one right before you would select a user and put in a password comes up, the laptop just CLICKS OFF then restarts the rebooting loop over and over again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop recently became extremely slow. The CPU usage is barely ever under 94-100% when any programs are running. I was wondering if you could help me find out what is wrong with it
View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently my laptop has been running very slowly and I've noticed that the cpu usage is usually at 100%, even when most of the more memory intensive programs such as firefox and azureus are closed. Is this a problem with most lenovo laptops? I have a thinkpad T43p.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently allowed someone use of my laptop to access their Yahoo email over a dial-up connection. When I next used the laptop myself, the desktop had re-arranged to the default top left screen configuration and the laptop was noticeably slower in operation. It now appears to operate at 100% CPU usage, whatever programme I attempt to run. I have run Spybot (nothing detected). According to the "user" they did nothing but read their email and did not download anything (that they were aware of).
View 13 Replies View Relatedthe laptop is very slow. how slow? it takes 14.5 min to boot up.it takes 4 min to get the outline of a window when i click on IE and 3 more min to get the home page up. ( Google.com) it is like this for any other app i try to open. ( the Start button takes about 35 sec to open) it is the same when connected to my lan or when it is a stand alone. So, i did a format and a re install, not once, but twice. i continue to run AVG scans, and spyware scans they always come out clean. And the laptop is still the same.
the laptop is: a P M 1.7 Gig with 256 meg of ram running windows 2000 pro. (format is NTFS) i have a P III 500 gig with the same ram that runs rings around this laptop.
did a mem test 86 and it passed all tests. ran Sea tools (all tests) passed.
why my laptop has been running SO slow for so long? On everything it does.

I Have A Relatively New Gateway Laptop That Works Extremely Slow On Or Off The Internet.most Of The Time My Hard Drive Light Is On Solid. I Checked Processes Through Task Manager And It Says Cpu Useage Is Between 80 And 95% In The System Idle Process. Is That My Problem And How Do I Solve It? View 13 Replies View RelatedI've been having a ton of trouble with a slow laptop that doesn't have any security on it and has old Office programs (ignorant purchasing choices that were totally my fault). Works on a wireless network. It has a lot of trouble shutting down. I get a CCapp error all the time.
My husband has a Toshiba Satellite L25-S1215 which is running Windows XP Service Pack 3. It was working fine, and then suddenly got extremely slow, and the audio on start-up is broken up/stuttering. When playing videos the audio and video is also stuttering. Thought Norton Internet Security might be the problem, and uninstalled it, but problems continue. When computer is turned on, it is VERY slow to bring up Windows, and then extremely slow to connect to IE. Can't even bring up Mozilla Firefox anymore, which he had used for several years with no trouble. While NIS was installed, it showed CPU usage as fluctuating between 10% and 100% with only NIS running. I have done a "hijack this" scan,

I just recently did a reformat and clean install of windows (to get rid of all the dell bloatware that came with my laptop, clean the registry, etc). Problem is, now programs are opening really really slowly. For example, photoshop is taking a super long time to open, it used to be much faster.Internet/Firefox seems to work fine, but in general I can tell something isn't right. I'm pretty confident it's not a virus/malware problem, as I just reformatted, did a new install of windows, and have had zonealarm running from the start (and yes, zonealarm was running all the time previous to the reformat).
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite (it's about 2yrs old). Yesterday I did a interlnet explorer update and when my system did a restart to install the screen went black. I powered off then on and it would goto the xp loading page then go black again. Tried to restart several times sometime I could get to the login page and once I logged in my desktop would appear but I could not do anything. Tried f8 went to last known good configuration but still same issue. Tried safe mode but you can not do a restore in safe mode. Several times when i was able to get logged in a blue screen would flash but very fast and it would say something about an error and needing to restart.
View 24 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is running very slow and has been showing signs of hijacks. I have run Ad Aware and also Avast Virus Checker. I have Avast and AVG, Spyguard, Zone Alarm running and on my other machine running the same programs have no problems.
View 13 Replies View RelatedLately my computer has been extremely slow, not just internet slow but onboard slow. For example, if I click on an application from the desktop it will sit there for 10-20 seconds before anything happens. Occasionally I'll click multiple times on something and nothing will happen then 30 seconds later it will open multiple instances of things. This delay has been happening with just about anything I click on, acting like the computer's busy doing something else when nothing else should be going on. I've looked in the task manager and the applications column will be blank
