I am trying to create a task using Task Scheduler, and it asks me to "set account information". I am given three boxes. One of them, marked Run as has "COMPUTERJesse" already filled in. The other two are marked Password and Confirm Password. This is odd, because I am running under an Admin account (yes, generally not smart, but I'm smarter than the average bear when it comes to computers, so I feel confident I'm not going to mess it up with downloading viruses and such
I clicked OK to get out of the "Set Account Information" box, and in the entry for my task, the Status is listed as "Could not Start", Last Result is "0x0", and Creator is "Jesse". how can I get Task Scheduler to run the task and most of all, obey my authori-tah?
When I search in Help and Support Center, no results are returned for the Microsoft Knowledge Base. I know this worked in the past (though how long ago, I have no idea). The option to search the Knowledge Base is checked. There are no other system problems to indicate corrupt system files. I've searched the web but haven't found anything yet that seems to apply. I'm reluctant to run a full SFC scan or repair the entire Help and Support feature since all other options appear to be working.

Now all my task is missing the front two tabs. I should normally have 4 tabs (Task, Schedule, Settings and Security). Now I only have 2 tabs (Settings and Security). What can I do to enable the front two tabs again? Even newly created tabs have only the two tabs. The newly created task would still run, but I cannot update them anymore.

Every time I try to start the task scheduler in control panel -> scheduled tasks it says 'Unable to start'. When I try to view the properties of a scheduled task I get error: 0x80041315 (This is a picture of the error. I reinstalled Windows Internet Explorer 7 but it still does not appear in the services list. I also used System file checker but it didn't fix it either. I do not have Task Scheduler listed in the services list. I really don't want to reinstall windows xp...is there some way I can get the Task Scheduler working again? When I try to delete them, a warning box appears saying that another person or program is using these files. Task manager says no other program is running and I do not see any suspicious processes running. The only recent changes I have made was to schedule a daily backup via NTBACKUP and a daily rename & compression of the backup files via a batch file with Task Scheduler. Does task scheduler leave .tmp files in place I don't want to delete the .tmp files if they are indeed needed by something important

I want to automate the backup of our Retail Management Software database file. The Partner who installed it wrote a batch file, which works fine, but he put it in the Scheduler and it never runs. I did the obvious, checked for correct user name and password, etc. The process kicks off, says it is working, but never terminates and does not actually run the batch file. I tried calling the batch file with cmd.exe, but that doesn't work either.

I had no idea what IIS was and whether I ought to have it, so I followed the link. This led to a "Sorry, no further information" message. I searched the Knowledge Base and found KB 555150, "How to add support for ASP.NET in Internet Information Services 5 and 5.1". This then pointed me to KB 308192, "How to configure Windows 2000 as a Web server".
After our Dell Inspiron E1505 recently crashed , Dell talked us thru diagnostics and finally sent us a replacement(refurbished) Toshiba hard drive to install in our computer. After installing it, and reloading all of the software for Windows XP, MS Office Small Business 2003, drivers and utilities, using the discs that came with the computer, we have a "Found New Hardware" window that pops up - Wizard trying to install a "Base System Device" everytime we turn the computer on. It asks for a disc but none of my existing ones seem to be the correct one. I've given it permission to connect to the Internet to "find" the software but nothing works.Also, since the crash/re-install, our C drive only has 12.4 GBs of total disc space, and of that, only 1.2 is still free space. My D drive has about 37 GBs of disc space. Could these two problems be connected? The computer was running so slow and we would periodically get a message "low virtual memory". This weekend, I moved as many of our documents as possible to the D drive to try and free up space. It's a little better, but why do I have such a small amount of disc space?

Well i only have one user, never had another user created until recently (temporary fix) is there anything i can do, the main user is called the owner, it says its the computer admin, but i guess there is still an admin user, i cant get to that. the only way i can get ms office to work was to create a new user, open all the office programs, export the office registry, and import it to my main user, thats the only thing that works, for a little bit.

I recently downloaded some media files and straight after my computer slowed down to a crawl and then would not respond. The mouse pointer remains active but i cannot click on anything succesfully. The task bar and task manager do not respond at all, i can open files saved on my desktop but cannot do anything when they're open and cannot close them again. I reset my PC a number of times but this did not solve the problem. I assume this is a virus or spyware problem but could it possibly be anything else?

The differences were hardware support and some had a few of thier unique commands and utilities included. Some where along the line Microsoft was able to reign in DOS and then there were two MS DOS and PC DOS.I tried to upgrade my new HP/COMPAQ from XP HOME to XP PRO. After about 6 hours of effort with Microsoft Suooprt and HP Support the answer is:Andre K (HP Tech): Toby, this Desktop was shipped with an OEM version of Windows XP home operating system. HP does not support operating system upgrades provided by Microsoft. You need to purchase the upgrade CDs from HP to resolve this issue.
