ROXIO version of GOBACK being the cause of the problem. when I had to do a reinstall of windows and noticed that Windows Explorer wasn't showing my second and third drives.I know and very easily fixable by going into Disk Management. drives were showing in Disk Management, there was no letter assigned to them.

Here's what I've done so far:Changed the brand of CD from Phillips to Maxell got "write errors" Went from Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator to Windows Media Player same problem.Tried to contact Roxio tech support.they make it almost impossible, no results Tried to contact Sony (software for the Roxio).they gave me a phone number that ended up being the Hilton Hotel! Then, when I called back, Sony was closed.Went to my "old" Compaq computer running Win98SE, and can burn Roxio CDs successfully, but the system is too slow for video.Hope this is enough info for you expert-type people - I'm trying to avoid system restore.

The images tend to support the explanation of the text, but they aren't there. View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to see the little icons for the .cur and .ani files when I looked at the Cursor folder in C:Windows. The files themselves are still there and I can use them in the Mouse Pointers setting in Control Panel, but now the icons are all the same IN THE EXPLORER DISPLAY: a bland pointer with a star at the end of it on a piece of paper background. At first, I thought maybe it was a setting in Folder Options in Control Panel, but I realized it's not a matter of file associations. I don't need to open them except in the Mouse Pointers setting, which as I said works.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was testing my FTP server tonight and when I connect to the home directory there's two folders that show up (RECYCLER and System Volume Information) in the home directory that shouldn't be there. When I go into my home directory in Windows Explorer these folders don't show up there, even if I choose to show the hidden files. If I can't get these folders to show up in Windows Explorer I can't exclude them from showing up in my FTP Server software. Is it possible that they show up in my FTP client because I'm connecting to the same machine the server is on? That's all I can come up with.

I've installed Roxio Easy media creator 8, evertyhing was perfect, until i insert a data disc, the computer became freezed! and the problem is with every disc, it looks like a conflict, because i leave the computer, for like 20 minutes, and when i came back, the computer was normal, and allow me to use it like nothing happened. Although they still show in My Computer, they do not show up in Windows Explorer anymore, unless I select them in My Computer First - and then choose the "Folders" selection. do Not give me the standard answers which are for External drives that don't show up Anywhere .. because the drives DO show up in Disk Management, and they DO show up in My Computer, and this is Not a new drive that needs to be formatted.

I have photo software for that... not for in a 'quick' view of a folder...It might be cute and okay if there is 1 or 5 photos, but I have an average of 5000-10000 photos and/or videos in each folder.

Since about two weeks ago, XP does not react at all to the insertion of a disk until I click on the relevant drive letter in the left pane of Explorer. It then shows the content of the disk but still does not show the disk title info. In addition Autorun no longer operates even though it is enabled.

In other folders they are visibile (even subfolders of the not working folder). When I choose any other view the filenames reappear just fine..In the 'Choose Details' window of the folder the 'Name' option is selected (it's not even possible to deselect it).

I have win XP x64 Pro. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 installed & Autodesk Design Review 2010 installed.In windows explorer I can't see PDF or DWF files as thumbnails, I just get an icon image. I can see JPG, AVI, WMV, etc. They all give me a thumbnail image that is correct. I tried reinstalling Adobe & Autodesk Design Review and still nothing. I did however catch something odd. If I open Adobe, then click open, and browse to a folder within Adobe, I can see thumbnails for all file types, PDF, DWF & JPG. The same for Design Review, I can browse from withint the program, and it all looks correct. It's REALLY slow to generate the thumbnails, but they do eventually appear. And once generated, it's cached and the next program snaps them right up.

A few days ago, I noticed that it had suddenly stopped working for image files - video and html files still get a preview, but not images. They do show up in Computer Management. I can even assign drive letter there. But they will not show up in Eplorer even after I assign the drive letters.CD ROM and Hard disks all show up. I understand that if I remove a USB drive without going through the process of using the "Safely Remove" icon I run the risk of getting a 'phantom' drive listed in Explorer. I have found this out the hard way! I have several partitions on the main drive and also other external hard drives - in getting these 'phantom' drives the drive letters somehow got reassigned without my intervention so now cause a problem accessing from my network. All my efforts to remove the entries have failed - I have tried through Device Manager but cannot figure out which entry would apply to the ones I have. I have one from a U3 drive which uses 2 drive letters and another single one. If I click on the "Safely Remove" icon I can get them to disappear until I reboot. I tried using those 'phantom' letters for other drives - again all goes well until I reboot and I am back to square one. I have searched the registry for the entries that set the drives but cannot figure that out either. Various trial deletions have no effect.

Since then my computer has been 'getting stuck' after it prints a document.It would print the first document but then nothing after that, i found that the print spooler was showing that the just printed job was marked in status as being deleted... however it would go away and nothing else would get printed. i played around with active processes and found that I could delete the 'deleting' process and get the printing going again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy system worked fine until I loaded a recommended windows update for my NVIDIA Winfast GeForce 3 TDH card. It loaded a driver that wasn't compatible with my widescreen LCD monitor. I reloaded what I thought was the NVIDIA driver 93.71 forceware for XP and things work better, but... I'm getting an annoying flash anytime I right click on a video file icon OR when I go open the NVIDIA control panel OR when I go into the video advanced settings on my desktop. Those are the only times I get the flash. It's not really a flash but more like my monitor is out of vertical phase. It's rapid and brief. Not a critical problem but I would like to find a fix. I've tried every refresh rate and setting with in the NVIDIA controls but I can't get rid of it. if I didn't know it didn't do this previously, I'd ignore or replace my card. I do not have the original driver for this card because I bought it used without it. Perhaps someone could suggest a better driver?

Discovered that the reason Print Management Console wasn't an option in the Admin Tools because you have to install it from Disk 2. Tried to install it and was told that the version of windows I was running wasnt the correct one for this update. Tried updating to R2 (how do you tell if the version your running is R2 or not?) but was told the version of Windows I was running is newer than the one on the disk. All I want is the PMC installed...

neither wmp 11 or roxio recognizes a blank disc. when i try to burn a disc (dvd or cd) both wmp 11 and roxio tells me to insert a blank disc. i have tried putting a disc in first, or wait for the program to tell me to insert disc but neither way works!:
