NVIDIA Graphic Card Wasn't Compatible Updates
Oct 18, 2007
My system worked fine until I loaded a recommended windows update for my NVIDIA Winfast GeForce 3 TDH card. It loaded a driver that wasn't compatible with my widescreen LCD monitor. I reloaded what I thought was the NVIDIA driver 93.71 forceware for XP and things work better, but... I'm getting an annoying flash anytime I right click on a video file icon OR when I go open the NVIDIA control panel OR when I go into the video advanced settings on my desktop. Those are the only times I get the flash. It's not really a flash but more like my monitor is out of vertical phase. It's rapid and brief. Not a critical problem but I would like to find a fix. I've tried every refresh rate and setting with in the NVIDIA controls but I can't get rid of it. if I didn't know it didn't do this previously, I'd ignore or replace my card. I do not have the original driver for this card because I bought it used without it. Perhaps someone could suggest a better driver?

Not sure if this is the right group for this question - so apologies if anyone feels aggrieved.I have been told that it might be a good idea to update my nvidia geforce2 mx/mx400 bios (not driver) as it is 3 years old. I'm a bitconfused because the bios doesn't seem to be available on the nvidiasite but I have to get it from my motherboard site, Jetway. Am I goingnuts here? Can anyone reassure me of the best way of updating the biosin this video card?

I recently was reinstalling windows xp pro . after the fresh install i tried to connect to the internet nothing happened. went to the device manager and apparently the the PC wasn't reading the ethernet controller. so i went home to the dell support to download the necessary drivers needed. i even called dell to make sure i was doing the right thing. needless to say it still does not work... i opened up the CPU to try and find the actual name of the ethernet card and could not. there was a small metal box where you put the ethernet cable into. i did not see a card, yet i know there is one. sorry if I'm confusing. its a dell 8300 with no service code or service tag on it. i check inside and out

I am running XP and have been for some time with no problems, recently my printer began playing up (saying that it wasn't able to communicate) that problem seemed to go away after a while. Since then my computer has been 'getting stuck' after it prints a document. It would print the first document but then nothing after that, i found that the print spooler was showing that the just printed job was marked in status as being deleted... however it would go away and nothing else would get printed. i played around with active processes and found that I could delete the 'deleting' process and get the printing going again.

My OS is XP Pro. For quite a while now, whenever my system tries to install the latest version of Win Media Player, most of the installation happens and then I get an error message saying the installation wasn't completed and that I must log on as administrator. Since I am the adminstrator, I guess I've somewhere along the line lost my administrator rights.

I am trying to install the Print Management Console for Server 2003 R2 So far I have added the role of Print Server to the server. Discovered that the reason Print Management Console wasn't an option in the Admin Tools because you have to install it from Disk 2. Tried to install it and was told that the version of windows I was running wasnt the correct one for this update. Tried updating to R2 (how do you tell if the version your running is R2 or not?) but was told the version of Windows I was running is newer than the one on the disk. All I want is the PMC installed...
1) How do I tell whether I am already running R2 or not?
2) How do I get the PMC on this damn server?

every since i reformatted my computer, its been very choppy. What I mean is whenever i scroll down it's not very smooth at all. Its like it's moving in sets. A friend of mine actually reformatted my computer and told me that I have to install VGA?. I have the cd that came with my computer but there are many files that are on the cd, the cd is called "MainBoard Xp Support" PC Chillin 2000. I don't know which files to install since VGA driver has about 5 or 6 .exe files. I was wondering if someone could help me through this process and take me step by step on how to get rid of this choppy graphic problem.

I am having display problems with two applications under winows XP. The control software that comes with my Asus MB called AIsuite and also the Nvidia GPU monitoring program. Both use those fixed graphical interfaces (ie not windows standard) a bit like winamp etc. Both show very messed up interfaces on my system with icons in wrong places, text running off edge of GUI etc. I was suspicious it was to do with my windows font settings so removed cleartype and insured size was set to normal. However, the glitches still show up.

Firstly I have a pc which I installed Win XP Prof onto. All worked great. Then took out modem card and replaced with ethernet card. Again no problem. However, when I went to boot the compute up a week or so later it went through the boot process and then just before I would expect to see the Windows logo with blue sky background appear I "sometimes" get a blue screen flash up with a message which you cant read unless you can slow down time and then the PC restarts and goes through the whole procedure again.
I did manage to start in Boot logging mode and watch to see where the problem was. It seemed to be something to do with the Display adaptor. I found the appropriate solution on the web and although I now get further on into the boot, it still restarts. When i try to run the logging thing (!) it does not want to play any more and just boots in the normal fashion. I have tried defaulting the BIOS, checking the file system for damaged sectors etc all to no avail.

Ok, I have solved "MY" nv4 loop error. It is not a software fix however. After I and most people have tried every fix out there, I decided to go to the root of the problem. The memory. I ran boot up with each DIMM alone. I use 3 1gb OCZ 6400's . 2 of these DIMM's ran any program that crashed before with no problem, only 1 did not. I ran the 2 DIMM's together and no more error. I have heard that there is an issue with the 680i motherboards giving incorrect voltage to memory or that it reads incorrect voltage . In either case on memory module is bad. While I consider this a final troubleshoot victory , it isnt cheap. But none the less im happy with the outcome.

I've got two big screen monitors connected to my 9800GT via HDMI cables. They are configured for a vertical span configuration in the NVIDIA drivers (updated to the latest version of the driver)When I turn off the second monitor which I do sometimes to save power, either windows or the nvidia drivers auto-detects that the second monitor was powered off and changes my video configuration to a single monitor configuration, resizing my desktop back to fit on only one monitor. When I turn my second monitor back on, I need to manually re-configure the video settings every time.

This tweak will only work with Nvidia gpu's with an nvidia detonator driver. It can be downloaded from http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.aspĀ . We are going to need the windows registry. always make sure you make a backup of your registry before you are going to edit it. Open your registry by pressing the start button choose run and type regedit.click on the NVTweak folder you now see and create a new Dword value name it CoolBits (make sure you use a big C and B) one's created open it and make the value 2 (hex or decimal) This was the tweak. You can now go to your display properties select advanced in theĀ settings tab and then go to your detonator there you would find a new function called clock frequencies.

I'm running Win/XP on a Toshiba Laptop, 40MB. Everything is up to date regarding
MS updates. Yesterday I noticed my screen begin to "unstabilize". The images of letters
and graphics started breaking up and eventually I received a msg stating that the NVIDIA graphics NV4_DISP display driver has stopped working normally.
I went to the NVIDIA site but I was not sure what driver to D/L and if that is even what I should do..
Can someone please advise me. I have to use another computer (my wife's) since mine
only works for about 2-4 minutes before it shuts down (actually it seems to go into
safe mode, but the letters eventually fragment and I have to shut down.).
