I would like to know if graphic cards with fan are more resistant in hotenvironment than those without. I am sending some PCs to an African countrywhere they will be used in an place without aircon, so it would be great toknow this before choosing an appropriate configuration.
I just bought a new graphics card and i would like to disable my old on-board one and i was told you can do it in BIOS. I have never done anything in BIOS and i don't want to shut off something i need thinking it was the card. I need to know what the card i would be called so i can shut it off.
My computer restarts on its own without giving an error msg/warning... I even disabled auomatic restart under system & recovery but the problem still persists I have: Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz Microsoft XP Service Pack 2 which recently got updated to SP3 250GB HD 1GB RAM 512MB Nvidia Graphic Card Well but it once gave a BLUE SCREEN with error
My system worked fine until I loaded a recommended windows update for my NVIDIA Winfast GeForce 3 TDH card. It loaded a driver that wasn't compatible with my widescreen LCD monitor. I reloaded what I thought was the NVIDIA driver 93.71 forceware for XP and things work better, but... I'm getting an annoying flash anytime I right click on a video file icon OR when I go open the NVIDIA control panel OR when I go into the video advanced settings on my desktop. Those are the only times I get the flash. It's not really a flash but more like my monitor is out of vertical phase. It's rapid and brief. Not a critical problem but I would like to find a fix. I've tried every refresh rate and setting with in the NVIDIA controls but I can't get rid of it. if I didn't know it didn't do this previously, I'd ignore or replace my card. I do not have the original driver for this card because I bought it used without it. Perhaps someone could suggest a better driver?
When I try to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skaker 4 on my laptop and I get the following error:The file SiS630v.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer. The file sis7018.sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.I think the main problem is that my drivers (audio and graphic) are not verified or whatever with Windows. How can I do this? How can I can each of their logo'd driver from SiS?
I am trying to install a graphic design program and cant get by the 'setup', it starts to load and then nothing happens, then when closing down I get 'should not see me', wowexec and finally, 'the win 16 subsystem may be unstable. It's worth mentioning that I've just formatted and reinstalled and all the applications are working perfectly.
every since i reformatted my computer, its been very choppy. What I mean is whenever i scroll down it's not very smooth at all. Its like it's moving in sets. A friend of mine actually reformatted my computer and told me that I have to install VGA?. I have the cd that came with my computer but there are many files that are on the cd, the cd is called "MainBoard Xp Support" PC Chillin 2000. I don't know which files to install since VGA driver has about 5 or 6 .exe files. I was wondering if someone could help me through this process and take me step by step on how to get rid of this choppy graphic problem.
Firstly I have a pc which I installed Win XP Prof onto. All worked great. Then took out modem card and replaced with ethernet card. Again no problem. However, when I went to boot the compute up a week or so later it went through the boot process and then just before I would expect to see the Windows logo with blue sky background appear I "sometimes" get a blue screen flash up with a message which you cant read unless you can slow down time and then the PC restarts and goes through the whole procedure again. I did manage to start in Boot logging mode and watch to see where the problem was. It seemed to be something to do with the Display adaptor. I found the appropriate solution on the web and although I now get further on into the boot, it still restarts. When i try to run the logging thing (!) it does not want to play any more and just boots in the normal fashion. I have tried defaulting the BIOS, checking the file system for damaged sectors etc all to no avail.
I have a PC with a built-in media card reader, and when I use the compact flash portion of that reader a certain program is always launched. I would imagine that initially I indicated which program to open. Is there any change to change that program?

laptop has got the ZLOB virus and I am trying to get rid of it but I cannot connect to the internet because the drivers for the ethernet card are missing. There is no id on the laptop apart from the COA for XP and Z600 on a sticker underneath it. How can I find out what make it is so I can find the drivers. I don't mind paying for the drivers or a virus remover as long as they work.
While I was deployed my wife inserted an Mini SD card in to the card reader built into the computer. When she removed the card windows locked up, as soon as she reinserted the card windows worked fine. She removed the mini SD card from the adapter to use in her phone, and windows still worked fine, but as soon as she removed the Mini SD adapter from the card reader windows locked up and the windows would hang during start-up with out the adapter. Reinserting the adapter cured the freeze and hang, but windows ran very slow.I removed and reinstalled the card reader drivers and was able to remove the adapter, but windows still hangs on start-up with out the adapter placed in the slot.
The monitor started showing graphic distortion. I ordered a new monitor but had the same distortion on it. I updated the ATI drivers but it did not solve the problem. In trying to trouble shoot the problem following directions on the ATI website, I changed all the graphic settings to the lowest and slowest available. This got rid of the distortion but the settings need to go! Now I cannot open the display settings.
I am trying to access the internet with my windows nt system but it appears I can't. I may have the wrong NIC card but I was told by 3com it was the correct card.

I bought a NC100U-WM Network card from Walmart and got everything working I think, except that while the box says that it is compatible with XP, the floppy doesn't have anything on it that would correspond to XP ... anyway, it looks like its working ok, all the lights light up - but the connection won't go anywhere except the centurytel diagnostics page.
I hooked earthlink back up and googled this card and seems like there is a lot of trouble with the drivers not being compatible with XP pro.... does anyone know a workaround - or should I take this back to Walmart ... and if so, what do I buy to work with DSL for century-tel - my computer didn't have an ethernet card on it
Am in the process of applying for Predator DSL service in place of my dialup service. One of the questions that is asked is "Does your computer have a 10/100 Ethernet card?" I can't answer that question because I really don't know. I checked for this info on the computer but can't find any info referring to an Ethernet card.
Man this is so sweet, I couldn't play any games before and it made me sad, so I searched and found a perfect graphics card for me! Went to best buy and bought it! But I have a question, this is sweet and all but I was wandering in the OLD version when my graphics card sucked, my CPU & CPU Speed were GREAT.Now.. it's good but not GREAT, anyway to fix this up?
I want to run call of duty 4 on my computer but it says Not sure what to get actually, my computer specs are in the one thing. and since i have such a small computer space is a problem what can i do?
I have a 4GB SD card for my digital camera and when I insert it into the card reader on my laptop it doesn't even show up as being read. I know my card read works because it picks up my sisters card from her camera.I am getting sick of having to whip out the cable and do it that way.If anyone has any advice please share it.
I have a typical 19" LCD monitor and a nvidia GeForce4 MX4000 video card. I would like to upgrade to a 22" Wide Screen LCD. I noticed that the max pixels on my present card is 1280x1024. I think the new LCD is 1680x1950. I am using Windows 2000 pro and the motherboard is a 2.4 Ghz. Do I need to get a new video card to support the new monitor? I use the computer for general stuff, day to day, like word processing, excel, and net surfing, nothing exotic or fast.
I love to play guild wars.I usually play it on this computer and it runs great. Now lately the game has been going much slower than usual. It is lagging on my computer and not anyone else's.Can anyone tell me what i can do to increase my speed?I have DSL so it shouldn't be too bad.And it just recently started happening so i don't think that it's my graphics card or my RAM which is 1 GB.Dell Optiplex computer.
