Process Running Too Many?
Oct 4, 2009I have 45 processes running when i do control-alt-delete.Can i get rid of some? If so how? And which should i not touch?

System Process Running Constantly
Dec 4, 2004In my list of processes under task manager, the process "System" runs every about every five seconds for a split-second, taking up about 20% of my CPU. This doesn't matter too much when running lower-end applications that require little activity, but when I run games that need much more of the CPU to run, I get skips every 5 seconds because "System" will run no matter what every 5 seconds.

I noticed in Task Manager that there were processes that ended in ' .t ' Running a search on my computer showed that there are over 100,000 .t files now on my computer. I've run Spy Sweeper, which blocks some of these from starting up, but won't get rid of them. Same with Spyware bot. What are these files? and how do I get rid of them?

Aug 1, 2009I have a main WIN XP Home Edition based computer with an Intel 3118 chip, 2GB RAM,190GB Hard drive with 126GB free, additional drive via USB with 470 GB and 399GB free and networked with a laptop and Dell computer all able to read each other. On the main computer I have 60+ icons on the desktop and have Zone Alarm Security Suite and Forcefield running updated.I have cleaned all computers with Crap Cleaner and Esaycleaner have defragged and deleted all unwanted files but still it takes some 9-10 minutes to boot from hot or cold and the close down of programs also takes between 1-2 minutes.

Jan 23, 2009Why is it taking my computer 3 minutes to boot to the desktop? As you can see from my signature below, I don't have exactly a slow poke machine. All drives are defragged weekly, the BIOS is set to boot off of the hard disk, and I only have the one OS installed.This thing use to boot to the desktop in 20 seconds.

Feb 24, 2005Does 66 running processes seem like a lot? I cannot seem to find a thread regarding this. (I'm sure there is, stopped looking after 45 minutes) It doesn't seem to slow my computer at all. I AM running quite a bit on here as far as spyware, virus scans, webshots, etc. It's also a media center 2004 computer with all the trim so there are quite a few windows processes on there. Even with AOL running, my computer is only using 430MB of RAM and I have 1GB.

Nov 21, 2007I have a Athlon X2 4200 with XP installed. I have looked at process manager and I see the one processor is running flat out and the task manager graph says my system is running at approx 50%. Then when i look at the Process list it appears that System Idle Process is using around 99 to 95% of CPU time. There are no other processes listed using significant processing resources. So what is causing my one processor to run at full speed without being visible in Task manager?

Jul 27, 2010iv'e been searching around for 30 minutes of what the problem could be but i have not found anything. iv'e been looking through msconfig startups and there is nothing wierd there, iv'e also been looking up my programs through ad or remove program if there is some random programs that is installed on my computer and i didn't find anything. When i open my task manager it is System Idle Process that is jumping around between 48-61 cpu usage, i don't know what SIP is for or what it do, so it would be nice if someone could tell me little about SIP and give me some tips over how to solve this problem with the cpu usage. I also found out that rundll32.exe is using about the same cpu usage as SIP 50-55 what is rundll32.exe?

Feb 5, 2005I wanted to install xp over my 2000, and so i loaded everything up installed everything and then got to the partition selection. It would not let me delete C: because it said there were files that were needed for the setup, arent they supposed to be on the disk? So it couldnt delete, but i continued and installed it on that partition (C: ) thinking that after words it will ask me to format. IT didnt.. and i now have 2000 and XP installed and i dont wanna multiboot. Mar 27, 2006I am having this wierd and serious problem, my "system" prcoess causes my CPU usage to jump from any where to 50-90% utilization, causing my computer to stop or hand. It also causes all my sound to dissappear saying that my direct sound source is not working. I just did a format and this problem is still occuring. I do not know what to do. Do you guys have any idea where to go for help, because i am also THAT desparate to go to microsoft. I am wondering if maybe it is trying to install drivers under the ststem process.
