Dec 25, 2006HP psc 2410 photosmart all-in-one printer. Whats happening is it's not printing the text of documents but if i insert a picture it will print that with no problems, even printing from the internet it will only print pictures. I scanned something that was only words and it printed that. I thought maybe it was the black ink cartrige so i put a new one in and it still isn't printing. If i put the words in a different colour it will print them just not in black.

Aug 12, 2010i've had problems with my computer background for months -.- and it's really getting on my nerves. i'd like to find a solution to my problem.. when i right click my desktop, click properties, click desktop.. and browse and find the photo i want to set, it looks fine in the preview but when i apply it, half of it is off the screen in the corner. i tried changing it to stretch, center, tile, i re sized the image to my exact desktop size, i also tried different resolutions and still no change! please if someone can help.. i've googled this Many Many times but none of the solutions worked for me, i've also tried multiple images... I'll post some screenshots now

Jul 6, 2005Sometimes I will highlight a range of photo files and open them into Picture and Fax viewer. I can then page through all the photos I selected. Occasionally though, I will load a range of photos into the viewer and photos from outside the range I selected get loaded into the viewer. When this has happened, I've gone back and reselected the range and tried it again and still get pictures loading from outside the range I wanted. Also, I notice on the viewer's print wizard that pictures/documents from outside my range of selected documents are sometimes presented for printing. Anyone know how that happens and how do you fix it?

Jun 22, 2005I have XP Home Edition. My problem is that when I try to log into an account (any account) I see the desktop icons, task bar, start button for a second and then suddenly they disappear and I am left with the background. I can not bring up task manager (cntrl+alt+delete) or anything else. I have tried a few things:
1. Ran spyware be gone
2. Ran adaware (got a 'cannot find shell.dll' error after doing this)
3. Tried to using selective startup and disabling startup items (when I reboot it turns it back on)
4. Tried creating a new user account --- problem still occurs.
5. Finally tried a reinstall of XP. Significant to note that during this installation I get an error related to explorer.exe.
The first time I tried to reinstall it aborted the installation. I ran a repair on the programs (from disk that came from Dell with my pc). I then tried the reinstall again....I got further this time but still when it was at the point of installing explorer it through another error and said that the program was not installed.I do not know what to do next!
Screen Saver - Picture Horizontal Lines On Screen
Apr 3, 2008I recently bought a new computer with a 512 MB graphic card. My old computer had a 128 MB card but at the beginning, I only had 8 MB. I was using a screen saver with fish in an aquarium. With only my 8 MB card, the animation was really impressive. I tried my screen saver yesterday with my new 512 MB card and the picture was terrible. There were plenty of horizontal lines on the screen. What could explain this? Could it be that the program wasn't intented for this type of card? In those days, big cards like mine didn't exist. There might be a new update to this screen saver.

Mar 4, 2007I am using WinXP and my PRNT SCRN key fails to capture the screen image, I know it should but it doesn't. Therefore when I try to paste into PAINT, WORDPAD or MS WORD with the PASTE command or with CTRL+V nothing happens. I have checked this theory by tapping PRNT SCRN or ALT+PRNT SCRN or SHIFT+PRNT SCRN and then gone to CLIPBRD EXE. to view the captured screen, but nothing is on the clipboard. I can copy and paste in other programs but cannot copy the desktop screen using the PRNT SCRN key. Any suggestions on how to turn on this feature?

Mar 2, 2005To illustrate a setting for someone at work, I hit the print screen button and tried to paste it in M$ Image. No luck with Edit button or right click. Every option is gray color. HP Image won?t give me any options except ask me if I want to scan. I can only do it in M$ Word. I have tried to set up M$ Image as default (tools>general options>Open images in Image, but it still will only work in Word. This isn?t that big a problem now I know it only works in Word, but what is improperly configured? Shouldn?t I be able to create a jpg of my desktop in Image to paste or attach to an email or in a forum such as this?

It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.

Print Icon Brings Up Print Properties Box?
Jul 20, 2005All worked as normal Printer icon would print automatically with default print settings; File -Print would bring up print properties dialogue box to select options.Unhooked printer from laptop. Since reconnecting printer, the print icon button reverts to bringing up the print properties box as happens with going File - print. There is only one printer attached - it is shown in "Printers and Faxes" with a tick. There is nowhere to check it as the default printer as it is the only printer.How can I make the print icon button just do straight default prints again?

Apr 25, 2010I have an old Sony VAIO (running Win Xp) that I am using a print server. The VAIO is connected to a HP PSC. The VAIO is on a wireless network along with two other laptops. One laptop is running Win Xp and the other is running Vista. Everything was working fine as far as printing went until I reinstalled the OS on the Win Xp machine (same OS). Previously the VAIO would go offline due to hibernation and so if I tried to print something from the Xp machine, it would get in the queue and get printed when I turned the VAIO on. Now the print jobs are not getting in a queue when the VAIO is offline.I don't know what I did right before and so I don't know how to remedy the problem.

Sep 8, 2005When Windows is starting up I get a mostly blank dialog box with an OK button at the bottom after the Windows splash screen disappears, on top of the Windows is starting up screen. The dialog box that contains a small piece of unrecognizable text in the top left corner that changes each time I start computer. Most of the icons on the desktop have changed to the generic I don't know what you are icon and no applications will run including Internet Explorer except the virus program . I get an error message that Windows needs to know what application created that file. (This includes cmd.exe)
The dialog box cannot be closed with the ( X ) in the corner and will only continue to start windows after sitting for about 10 minutes or clicking the OK button. I don't believe it's a virus as the virus program does load and did do a complete scan without finding a virus.
