View 1 RepliesI used to use the windows + D combination to show my desktop but it has stopped working. When I right-click on the taskbar, the option has disappeared as well. Everything that I have looked up on the web, deals with putting the 'Show the desktop' back on Quick Launch toolbar.I can do that - but the Show the Desktop shortcut & Windows + D no longer work.

There's gotta be a way, but I don't think you can using built-in Windows stuff. maybe there's a prog out there that would let you? Right now if you apply a wallpaper, applies to both screens.

View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently I reinstalled the OS on my computer. It was shipped with Windows XP HE SP2, but I formatted and put Win98 onto the system. Needless to say, it froze up at the Windows splash screen. So, I uninstalled it and put XP back on. My question here is, is there any possible way to put Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows XP all on one hard drive, and it work? I know how to partition the hard drive accordingly for the deed, it's getting the computer to actually run 95, 98, and 3.1. I'm cheating fate here, since I know 3.1 probably won't run on my 32-bit structure system, but it's worth a try. My system is a Dell Dimension 4700 with 3.0 gHz CPU, 256 mb of RAM, and an nVidia 64 mb video card.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Acer XP screen cracked.I looked it up and was able to connect it to a different monitor by using the command: Fn then pressing F5 three times. It worked for the last few months, but Yesterday I accidentally hit the power cord of the monitor and it switched back to the laptop. I tried the command again but this time it didn't work.
Is there another command or something I could do to connect my laptop to the other monitor?
I just have a query with regard to my laptop. Before I go to bed at night I always instruct my laptop's monitor to switch off via the Power Schemes screen, however I tend to find that it often simply flashes off then switches back on again immediately, or it doesn't go off at all. More often than not I have to repeat the process twice (Power Schemes -> Turn off monitor -> After 2 mins -> Apply/OK) before it obeys. Any ideas as to why this might be?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe last thing I want ANYONE to see is My Pictures. Why is this damn thing offering THAT place as first choice for dektop wallpapers? I pointed it (browsed to) Windows/Web/Wallpapers but it STILL insists on my pictures included there! And there is no obvious, clear cut way to change it, I have to google all over the place to find the damn answer! Pure wasted time. to remove that place and prevent it from ever showing up as a first choice for wallpapers?

When I do this however, Windows makes the sound like a device has been disconnected and it messes up my monitor settings. This is very annoying and it didn't happen with my other monitors nor does it happen on my other Windows XP system with different monitors. It's like Windows is trying to be "smart" by thinking the monitor is gone. I do not want Windows to care if the monitor is powered off.

How many of you here use multi languages on the PC? I am having a BIG PROBLEM with the Language Tool Bar. I've been using English an Japanese on my PC and this never happened.I used the Microsoft Office 2003 Language Setting to "add" Japanese and it's been running fine. But today, all the sudden, the Language Tool Bar disappeared. Language Tool Bar = The bar appears automatically on the screen when you are using multi languages on the PC.If the Language Tool Bar is in inactive, it's restored on the Left-Bottom of the screen. Eng for English, Jp for Japanese. So I tried removing the settings and re-added, re-started, nothing happened. Also I tried Control Panel, Regions and Language Setting, added Japanese (it was already added), nothing happens. In fact, if I see the current settings, there are English and Japanese there! I tried Spybot and Ad-aware to see if any problem. Then re-started, result, same. Updated IE to 7.0, result, same.I didn't change any settings today, no new downloads or installations before this problem occurred.
