MS Diagnostics Irreparable Problems Invalid Key Problem
Sep 29, 2010
I did a repair reinstall of XP which, not only failed but screwed up the computer badly. After spending many hours trying to fix it a couple of MS diagnostics told me their were some irreparable problems. At that point I decided to to a clean reinstall with a quick format in the hope of recovering some files. However, I got to the Product Key page and it told me "invalid key". So I did a complete format and again reinstalled XP to get the same result "invalid Key".I called MS and they generated a new key but I am getting the same result.

I want to run the Dell Diagnostics from my ResourceCD that came with my computer. I suspect a problem with my video card and I am trying to check it out. I've been trying the following steps but it doesn't work. This is exactly what it says in my Dell Handbook:
1. Insert the resource CD.
2. Shut down and restart the computer. When the Dell logo appears, press F12 immediately.
3. When the boot device list appears, highlight IDE CD-ROM Device and press Enter. This is as far as I can get. When I select the CD-ROM to boot from, nothing happens and Windows loads normally.
4. Select the IDE CD-ROM Device option from the CD boot menu...........
I am trying to figure out what has been causing a blue screen of D to come up, while playing games.I can usually see the error, and diagnose from that, but the blue screen is not staying up for long enough for me to read it.is there somewhere it would log to, that I can look over, and see what kind of error it is returning? I believe it is probably my harddrive, because almost everything else in the system is brand new, (besides my DVD/CD player/burner) which seems to be faulty too (unless it is just the hard drive).
Working on a Windows XP Home Edition Dell mini ATX with no serial mouse/keyboard - just USB. I ran Malware AntiMalwarebytes at owners home - no issues (apart from adware!) Keyboard/mouse work fine in set up - so have checked BIOS etc. Soon as load Windows - no response - hence Software issue rather than Hardware. Safe mode no use as mouse and keyboard don't work once windows loaded. Any gurus sorted this before? Have run a diagnostics through utility partition and Everything working okay - especially all USB elements.

You can see what version of DirectX you have and test all types of DirectX based things like direct-draw and Direct3D by doing this: Click on the Start button Select Run Type dxdiag Hit OK.

My Dell laptop is constantly blue screening. I have ran the dell supplied CD diagnostics and found nothing wrong with the Hardware. I have reformatted and reinstalled everything, I just cannot get it too stop the blue screens.
I am receiving the following error at startup: "Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter" There are no CD's in the CD drive. However, I ran the System Diagnostics and when it got to the Disk section - it is not recognizing the disk - it said Warning...and to check the cables. I have done that, and everything seems to be connected correctly.
We had a similar problem on two computers with Angelfire months ago, however, that cleared itself up...not sure what resolved it.
When trying to access the page, I receive the status bar error of "Invalid Syntax" with a Page cannot be displayed.
I have run AdAware, Spybot, HiJackThis, and Microsoft Anti-Spyware several times, with nothing showing up.

I am installing XP Pro on to a machine. I am using a SP3 CD (as that is what I have). When I am asked to put the key in it says "Product ID you entered is invalid". Is this because it is a SP3 cd and not the original OEM disk? Also, it isn't giving me any option to call in.
I'm trying to do a repair on my Windows XP and when I try to get into C:/Windows - it's asking me for an administrators password - I have no idea what that is. I tried my log in password but it says it's invalid.
Im trying to reinstall XP onto a laptop (Professional, Service Pack 2) and when I get to the Serial Key screen, the key is invalid. I know the key I have is valid (Generated through MSDN site), so I have tried to use a newer version of the disc. When rebooting the machine, it tells me to insert the previous disc....so my question is this. Is there any way I can start the installation from the very beginning, using the newer disc, so that I can use the key?
As part of my on-going saga, I'm at the point of re-installing XP. I haven't tracked down the CDs that came with the machine, yet, but I borrowed a XP Home Edition CD (upgrade) from my mom. I booted from the CD-ROM and started the Windows installation process. I'm at the point where it wants me to enter the product key and I enter the key on the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition label that's taped on the side of the case (it's a HP Pavilion box) and Windows tells me the product key is invalid. Is this due to some kind of upgrade CD vs OEM CD kind of thing?
I am getting this error message when I start windows XP Home, It says Replace the disk and press any key On doing so it starts normally.othing is in the CD drives and floppy is disabled in Bios.Booting is from the second hard disk - partition 2.
My XP desktop was in the middle of running CHKDSK when there was a power outage. Since then the computer will not start-up. It begins the usual POST, recognizing the drives then it comes to a screen saying Invalid System Disk, Replace the disk and then press any key. There are no disks in any of the CD/DVD drives. I have tried the recovery disk and even a full version XP disk, but nothing seems to be "seen". I get the same screen every time.
My nephew has windows 2000 and today he started to get two error messages: When we tried to go on IE it showed invalid syntax error. We could not get on any web page to look for help. Also at startup win inet.dll not found.
I just had Win 98 on my computer, but reformatted because I wished to start anew with Windows XP. The format went well, but I'm having trouble installing XP now. When I start up the computer with the setup disk in the disc drive, it tells me it's an invalid system disk.My problem is I just can't seem to get the setup to run... I dunno am I doing something wrong or is there something I'm not doing that I should be doing? I figured with the cd in the drive it would automatically start the setup
I purchased a sealed 'genuine' copy of Windows XP Professional with product key from Ebay about 2 years ago. I registered the copy with the product key back then and it worked fine until a recent update. Now, Microsoft are saying that I have a counterfeit copy with invalid product key for my region(Australia). How do I remove the annoying 'victim of software counterfeit' reminder that Microsoft has put on my desktop? Except for the obvious solution
I'm surfing a page pops up saying that I have an Invalid Security Certificate 443. I can still surf, but it just keeps on popping up. The message I get is: error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain Only Valid for this.
I was on my gf's computer on the control panel trying to clear unnecessary programs and I thought i was being careful enough... Well i fear i deleted an essential program on the computer and may have ruined it. I removed the Java runtime environment and each of the updates thinking it wasnt necissary. Is this a critical program? The weird thing is as i was removing parts of it it just kept saying computer must restart to complete the removal of the program, and i selected no each time.. all of the sudden the computer turned off and when rebooting it said invalid boot.ini booting from c:windows
I think I got virus, even though norton work 2004 cant dectected but everytime startup its say that (invalid boot disk...please insert...) and I have to put in my winxp in cd drive to boot up. I been format the disk and reinstall win but it don't help. I think some how my NTLDR got corrupted? but not just that one drive, I change to another smaller (4.0G) drive that got nothing but Winxp Pro and it's say the same. Winxp Pro 3.0g mhz 340g Hd.
This is a fix for if you ever had a "data invalid" problem that nags you while you were installing and swapping out cards with Windows XP. This error appears to be due to a protection problem in the Windows registry and can occur with a variety of drivers (sound cards and SCSI drivers have been reported). To fix this problem, go to Start, Run... and type "regedit" without the quotes to run the Registry Editor. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetENUMPCI and you will see a number of keys of the form "VEN_xxxx", where xxxx are strings like "1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00011103&REV_04". Under each of these folders will be another folder with a long numerical name. Open each folder and look for the "DeviceDesc" which matches the hardware you are trying to install. Right Click on the "VEN_xxxx" for that device and select 'Permissions' and then tick "Allow" for "Full Control". Close Regedit and then continue with the installation of your device. I cannot guarantee it works for everyone,
