I was trying to backup some files using windows media. Everything looks fine until I press "copy" Then I would get a message saying "no files on disc". I tried DL'ing a newer version but got the same problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter installing Service Pack 2, Explorer no longer sees my DVD burner nor my CD burner. I have tried going to an earlier system restore point but that has not worked. You can see the drives in Device Manager but there are yellow exclamation points beside each. I have tried un-installing and letting windows re-enstall and it does, but still have the same problem after it gets through. When I try un-installing service pack 2 I get messages saying if I un-install, a lot of my programs may not run correctly. I am running a Gateway 700 series 1.8 mhz pentium 4 processor, 512 mgs ram, with 80 gig harddrive, windows XP home. I have owned a computer since windows 3.1 and have tried all I know. Can someone please help me? I am just before formatting my hard drive and starting all over!Just for assurance I opened the computer case and checked to make sure the wires were properly seated to both drives and the mother board.

I have a client that for some reason AVG will not update except manually going to the grisoft site and downloading the update. I have tried every thing including installing from a CD, Installing from the Grisoft website, updating manually, and for some reason the AVG update manager will not work. Can someone recommend another Free Antivirus that is as easy to use and as automatic as AVG is, that I can install on her computer. This is an elderly woman that needs things as simple as possible. Now, when I try to burn files to a CD, I get a message telling me to insert a CD-R into the drive? I'm using the program built into Win XP and it seems to start normally, it's just not recognizing the CD-R. Strange, but the CD burner was recording fine until I turned off the services. It plays fine otherwise. I've tried turning services back on but no luck. Does anyone know which service may enable this function?

Initially the drive showed up correctly and I loaded the software that came with it, but started having problems so I uninstalled the software and must have deleted something I needed. It now just shows up as a DVD-RAM or CD ROM drive and will not see anything on the drive. So, after installing Windows Vista as a "dual boot" operating system, I switched the DVD drives back so the Pioneer DVR-106D = MASTER and the Pioneer 116 = SLAVE. Now I have a write problem to the Pioneer DVR-106D drive. When I attempt to either copy a DVD or just burn a data disk, I get an "INTERNAL TARGET FAILURE" error message. functioning properly. I have 3 ports on my laptop, and have tried all of them. Also, my mouse works, but only if it is plugged in when I start my computer. If it is unplugged, and then plugged back in, the computer can't find it. I have very little computer knowledge, so need step by step walkthroughs. I have tried the troubleshooter, and followed all the steps, and nothing has worked.
I am unable to delete certain temporary files from CD burn Problem seems to be with Illustrator ai and eps files.Tried re-booting, closing all apps and have even deleted original files from directory, but still recieve error message indicating files are in use when I try to delete them.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThings worked well until I connected a USB 2.0 Sony DVD burner [ owned by an associate ]. With PC & Sony burner turned off, I connected the Sony burner. Booted to Windows. Turned on Sony. Windows identified mass storage device & Sony burner. I re-started, and can't get beyond the Win XP Startup menu. Suggestions other than FFR [ fdisk, format, re-install ] and booting with the CD [ yes, I have an official Microsoft Win XP SP1 disk ] to run the repair will be appreciated. Also, I'm not interested in Linux, MAC or any other OS at this time. Soon, perhaps, but not tonight.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently got myself another hard drive, that I wanted to install in my computer. From before, the computer contained a hard drive and a CD-burner. I do not have instructions on how to set the jumpers on the new hard drive to make it master or slave, so I had to try my way. I figured how to make it master, so the present configuration is that this new hard drive is secondary master, and the CD-burner is secondary slave. BIOS recognizes this, but unfortunately Windows does not seem to find any of the devices on the secondary controller with this configuration.

I had tried to installed XP using 6 flopies loaned to me, but when I get to the last(6) flopy it restart on the already active XP. I do not know if it is a problem with my motherboard or what. I can not get to format the drive so I can reinstall windows.The version currently on the computer is XP SP2. I would not mind having to loose all my information on the drive rigth now, but I need to be able to access my CDroms.
