Aug 29, 2005for some unknown reson my dvr don't burn an eror is post each time the reading proces finish.i have a vaio leptop(PCG-K17)and thedvr is pionnerDVR-K12D.

CD Burner/DVD Burner Not Recognized In Explorer
Dec 4, 2004After installing Service Pack 2, Explorer no longer sees my DVD burner nor my CD burner. I have tried going to an earlier system restore point but that has not worked. You can see the drives in Device Manager but there are yellow exclamation points beside each. I have tried un-installing and letting windows re-enstall and it does, but still have the same problem after it gets through. When I try un-installing service pack 2 I get messages saying if I un-install, a lot of my programs may not run correctly. I am running a Gateway 700 series 1.8 mhz pentium 4 processor, 512 mgs ram, with 80 gig harddrive, windows XP home. I have owned a computer since windows 3.1 and have tried all I know. Can someone please help me? I am just before formatting my hard drive and starting all over!Just for assurance I opened the computer case and checked to make sure the wires were properly seated to both drives and the mother board.

Jul 23, 2005I know it's maybe the wrong NG, but could you help or direct me to the right one.This morning I tried to burn data to a DVD......only burnt the intro then stopped with a error.Tried again ... same thing...Virus checked, spyware checked, all OK Did a sfc scannow, did a system restore to 2 days ago.Tried again, same results.Un-installed Nero and removed all traces from registry.Reloaded Nero.Tried again, same results.
I can burn to DVD-RW and CD-RW and CD-R but not DVD+ or DVD-I am adding the error message, I know its long but in other posts it has been said that not enough info is given.Nothing unusual happened at shutdown last night or bootup this morning.Problems seem to start at 8:48:15 AM #21 I don't know how to interpret this data

Oct 1, 2006I used to burn CD's all the time...but now for some reason, it keeps on saying error right when the cd's about to finish burning it says ERROR and the cd drive opens.

Feb 16, 2006I recently turned off a lot of XP services that I thought I didn't need so that I could free up some CPU cycles for my flight simulators. Now, when I try to burn files to a CD, I get a message telling me to insert a CD-R into the drive? I'm using the program built into Win XP and it seems to start normally, it's just not recognizing the CD-R. Strange, but the CD burner was recording fine until I turned off the services. It plays fine otherwise. I've tried turning services back on but no luck. Does anyone know which service may enable this function?

Nov 12, 2005I just purchased an LG GSA-2166D external DVD burner. It is a USB 2.0 and when I plug it into my Windows XP computer it does not recognize it as the correct drive. Initially the drive showed up correctly and I loaded the software that came with it, but started having problems so I uninstalled the software and must have deleted something I needed. It now just shows up as a DVD-RAM or CD ROM drive and will not see anything on the drive. I have no problem burning with Nero 6 or other burning programs that I use. The IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is running. So, after installing Windows Vista as a "dual boot" operating system, I switched the DVD drives back so the Pioneer DVR-106D = MASTER and the Pioneer 116 = SLAVE. Now I have a write problem to the Pioneer DVR-106D drive. When I attempt to either copy a DVD or just burn a data disk, I get an "INTERNAL TARGET FAILURE" error message. Happens every time now.As my system is already set up as a "Dual Boot" operating system with Windows XP & Vista, I cannot format my "C" drive and reinstall Windows XP to fix this problem.QUESTION: Does anyone know how to correct this problem without formatting and reinstalling Windows xp?
