My pc sometimes resets. It shows a bluescreen and then resets. The problem is that the reset is followed almost immediately after the bluescreen. I can't read the bluescreen. Is there a way to retrieve the last bluescreen. Is it saved somewhere?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop on boot-up consistently gives a blue screen with ERROR (0X000000ED (0X81ACA988, 0XC0000006,0X00000000,0X00000000). I have read most of your fixes BUT in my case no matter what I do it ALWAYS boots to this screen. Trying to boot to Safe Mode results in a list of drivers prefixed by ?multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)c:windowsdriver.sys etc The machine will not boot from Floppy or CD and I?ve tried every combination of boot sequence under the F12 menu. In the BIOS it will not allow me to change any relevant settings, only the ?system date?, ?system time? and ?quiet boot?.and I cannot select the dropdown menu items either. Booting under Normal Startup, I see the Windows Logo and all that, but then the blue screen appears. I?ve tried removing the hard disk to get it to boot to floppy, removing the battery (which is totally dead), memory module, etc. Only thing left I think is to sling it in the Caribbean Ocean and go drink a bottle of rum.

beginning dump of physical memory dumping physical memory to disk: and counts up to 100 then the computer restarts. i was able to get into safe mode to try a system restore but when the computer restarted it never finished the install (it actually gave me the confirmation that the restore was successful while i was doing a repair install later on) i have tried going through the windows install disc repair utility and doing a chkdsk /p and a chkdsk /r upon doing /r it froze at 53 percent and did not move (i left it for a good 4 hours the first time before restarting it.. and then over night the second time.. and both times it never passed 53 percent............
My laptop has started to freeze at times,then the screen would blackout then appear with a black screen with a blue box inthe middle giving BOOT DEVICE OPTIONS Hard Disk Drive, CD-ROM/DVD, Floppy Disk Drive, LAN Boot it froze blacked out and now keeps going to this option page ,where as before if you turn off then on it rectified itself.

You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.
Any ideas?
I have a celeron/p4 machine with 256 RAM and 160 G Hard Disk. Well i installed a service pack 2 for xp. After installing my screen freezed so i restarted the pc and I got a blue screen. What can i do please?

I know i can restore to new but i will have lost so much information that it would take about 3 months to retain it all back. It says it can not find operating system. The error stated that I should run Chkdsk and then proceeds to restart and bring me to the Windows boot selection screen (safe mode, last known good configuration, normally). No matter which choice I pick, it always leads to the BSOD then restarts. Since this is getting me nowhere fast, I want to just format and reinstall windows. I do not have my recovery CDs, and when I enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence I cannot change it so the CD drive is above the hard drive in priority. The reason it gives me in the bios is that "All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode. If any items require changes, please consult your system supervisor. Any ideas on how I can boot off the cd and reinstall windows from scratch?

what i've tried:
boot to Last Known Good Configuration - resulting in the same blue screen
boot to Safe Mode / Safe Mode with networking / Safe Mode with comman prompt - resulting in blank (black) screen with "Safe Mode" in the corners and moveable mouse test the hardware (hard drive / memory etc.) via build in PC Doctor - all seems to be working
i am able to use bootable XP CD from other machine to get into Recovery Console
i am able to boot to simple live XP using BartPE-XPE usb key and access the hard drive

When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.
I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.
I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

View 3 Replies View RelatedI couldnt start up windows. It would hang at the windows loading screen and go no further. So I was told to try a repair-install. And thats where even more trouble has started. So I started to repair-install. During the Windows Install setup, it gets almost to the point of being completed, but gave me a blue screen error STOP message at around the "18 minutes left" mark. During "Registering components". It would do this every time at the same spot. So I searched a bit about how to solve the problem. One suggestion I found on the interwebs was to try it with only one stick of ram installed, I have four overall at 2gb. So I tried that, next time I boot up to the comp, it loads up the bios, and then goes to the black windows loading screen with the loading bar, then starts with a blue screen saying "Setup is being restarted" So I figure its restarting my windows installation since it never was completed, after that message, the screen goes black with a cursor, and stays that way forever. I immediately put all the ram back in, and no luck, same thing. I tested each individual ram stick, same thing, just goes black. So now, I can't even seem to re-install windows. Did my hard drive just crap out? Some hardware issue? Im already thinking about buying a new fresh hard drive, installing windows on there, and just moving all my files from the old hard drive over to the new one. Though that would be a pain, I really want to save my current drive! And all the data on it.

But after reading it i think this is a different problem, so, here goes: I recently bought a new graphic card: Radeon all-in-wonder x1800xl. Installed it on a clean system (did a reformat before i installed). The problem occurs after usually 30-60 minutes of gaming (so far with oblivion, black & white 2). The game freezes for about 30 sec and then goes into blue-screen mode.
The message is as follows:
Kernel-Data-inpage-error stop error screen
then there are a lot of numbers etc.
I have sometimes noticed a slight change in fan noise prior to freeze (speeding up)
After reebot everything's back to normal.........
When I turned my computer on this morning it starts up but when it gets to the boot screen it gives me a blue screen but my computer instantaniously restarts so i have no idea what it said. What should I do I'm using ERD Commander 2005 and that let me boot into my computer but its limited I've never used ERD Commander before I've tryed a few things but nothing has worked yet

I have to hit the reset button, it goes to the dos screen with the safe mode, etc. choices. I choose "start using last known good configuration" and I'm good to go. If I turn the computer off during the day and turn it back on, It works fine. It only hangs on the first start of the day.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently we've been getting "Blue Screen Errors" on our Windows XP. The most common one is called "Blue Screen error caused by a device or driver." Since they mention a likely hardware or software problem, I suspect our computer screen or speakers might be to blame. A couple months ago, we hooked up a screen and speakers from different brands. I think the screen's brand name is Westinghouse and the model number is LCM-17v8, and I think the speakers brand name is The Digital Experience inc., Model number gem 2.0 USB.
We've also gotten other error messages along with this one, such as "Address a problem with your computer", also strongly suggesting a problem with hardware, and "Troubleshoot a problem with your audio software". Is it possible that the screen or speakers may be incompatible with the computer, resulting in these errors, or would it be something else?
This moring when I turned on my laptop a '0x00000051 (0x00000001, 0xL1, 0L008, 0x00716000, 0x000001D6)' Registy Error appeared on a blue screen. It then continuously restarts, never making it to the logon screen.
I have tried to reboot in Safe Mode and 'Last Known Working' mode but the same blue screen appears. As I dont have a XP Home install disk (only boot disk supplied with laptop), I could not repair my registry so I have installed a parallel version of Windows XP Pro that came with another PC. I can access the hard disc so I will be able to back up most of my files BUT I cannot access the Documents and Settings of my user from the original OS because I selected 'Make this Folder Private' when I made the account. Does anyone know of a way to disable the 'Make This Folder Private' option on an account that is on a parallel version of XP?
I have to get rid of all traces of "illegal" files, tracks to files, mention that I ever even looked at said files on the internet or on my hard drive. This is my work computer and they are checking it this Thursday.XP professional SP2. As example, when I open Adobe Photoshop, it shows a link to every movie and pix I have viewed. I have deleted these files, so they no longer exist, but it shows the files as having been viewed.You click on the file in Photoshop, and it says the file is no longer available, but the NAME of the file, (ie Lesbian Girlfriends.mpeg) is still there. I have deleted History, the IE cache files, the cookies, the actual file itself, but I can't find the hidden file that still shows my viewing history. Later on I tried to call up my key logger and heard a beeping noise from within my pc. I paid it no attention and went on the rest of the day working. I was using Quicken later on and noticed that when I tried to view certain graphs they seemed to be "fluttering" (The page seemed to go up and down rapidly on its own) I closed it and ran Avast antivirus scan. I tried to activate it and got an error message that said it ran into some kind of runtime error (I think) I finly got it started, ran a scan and came up empty of viruses. Then Avast kept shutting itself off. I emptied my waste basket, went to internet options, deleted all files and history (Including online content) then cleared all in Firefox.

I have recently upgraded to the latest version of MSN Messenger and started
experiencing some ill effects from the upgrade. My user account on my
computer will no longer store my passport information (for me or any other
account on my machine). I have checked all of the settings in MSNM to make
sure that nothing is set there, and there isn't. I have also gone through
the wizard to setup the accounts for a .net pasport, and still doesn't seem
to be working.
Running XP Pro.This has never happened before.When I try to save a file using a program, it saves the file as FILENAME instead of FILENAME.extension.
Using Photoshop, when I try to save Rainbow.png, it saves the file as Rainbow if I don't include the .png in the Save As dialog. I have to manually rename the files without extension to Rainbow.png for example for it to be recognized as a .png file. This happens with each other program that saves files, such as audacity, FL Studio, hence even notepad.
The issue started when I went into msconfig and checked 'safe mode' in boot.ini. I restarted my computer and every time it would get to the Windows XP loading screen it would get The Blue Screen. I fixed this issue by putting in the Windows CD and clicked repair.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm runnin XP in a Dell laptop. Recently the screen was flipped upside down using the ctrl-alt-arrow keys. Using these keyes did not reverse the screen flip. Now when the laptop is rebooted it goes through the normal boot process (except for the screen being flipped) but it goes to a blue screen immediately after the desktop icons finish loading. The stop message reads: *** STOP: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x804d9da8, 0xedfd098c, 0x0000000). The safemode boot works fine. I'll try updating the video driver.
